Die Erfindung bezieht sich im Allgemeinen auf das Gebiet der Mundpflege und insbesondere auf Zahnbürsten. 4. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that bristle tufts ( 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) of the longitudinal rows ( 42 , 44 ) enclose an angle of less than about 81 degrees with the surface ( 30 ) of the head ( 14 ).

5. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the further tuft of bristles ( 28 ) at the front free end of the head ( 14 ) forms an angle of approximately 81 degrees with the surface ( 30 ) of the head ( 14 ).

6. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that bristle tufts ( 32 , 34 ) of the outer longitudinal rows ( 42 ) are inclined in the first direction (D) and bristle tufts ( 36 , 38 ) of an inner longitudinal row ( 44 ) are inclined in the second direction.

7. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least some tufts of bristles ( 28 , 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) have different colors.

8. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least some bristle tufts ( 28 , 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) have different cross-sectional areas.

9. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least some tufts of bristles ( 28 , 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) have different cross-sectional shapes.

10. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least some bristle tufts ( 28 , 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) consist of different materials.

11. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the cross-sectional area of the further bristle tuft ( 28 ) is at least four times larger than the cross-sectional area of any other bristle tuft ( 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) attached to the head ( 14 ).

Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that no other tuft of bristles ( 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) is attached to the head ( 14 ) at a location which is further away from the handle ( 12 ) than the location at which the further tuft of bristles ( 28 ) is attached to the head ( 14 ).

13. A toothbrush according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the first greater length and the second, lesser length differ by about 2.286 mm (0.090 inches).

14. A toothbrush according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first, greater length is approximately 11.18 mm (0.440 inches) or the second, lesser length is 8.89 mm (0.350 inches).

Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the cross-section of the bristle tufts ( 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) arranged on the rear portion of the head ( 14 ) has a cross-sectional area of 3.02 mm ² (0.0045 square inches) or 1.74 mm ² (0.0027 square inches) or 2.58 mm ² (0.0040 square inches) or 5.42 mm ² (0.084 square inches) and the cross-section of the further bristle tuft ( 28 ) is approximately 24.06 mm ² (0.0373 square inches).

16. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that each bristle tuft ( 28 , 32 , 34 , 36 , 38 ) consists of a large number of bristles, the bristles having rounded ends.

17. Toothbrush according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bristles attached to the head ( 14 ) are made of PBT, 6.12 nylon, or a nylon indicator (trade mark) material, in each case with or without an abrasive, such as kaolin clay.
