Description
Process for cleaning molten steel It is known that molten steel for example in the electric arc furnace under a white lime slag or a carbide slag to be purified. It is also known that the desulphurisation performance is more highly basic Slag can be increased by fluorspar and high-quality steels by deoxidizing the melt, e.g. B. be made with silicon, titanium, etc. For the purpose of Deoxidation has also already been suggested by using metal melting a lumpy, carbonaceous substance filled vessel to flow, wherein a reaction of the molten metal with the carbonaceous filling and a self automatically renewing reducing atmosphere leads to deoxidation.
The object of the invention now consists in a controlled interaction to produce high-quality steel melts by deoxidation and desulphurisation. To this The object of the invention is a method which is characterized by that the melt with the exclusion of oxidizing influences initially in a known manner deoxidized by means of silicon, titanium or similar substances and immediately afterwards through a heated pile of a sintered mixture of quick lime and Up to 15% fluorspar the size of peas or walnuts is poured through. Here can the melt is deoxidized under a neutral or reducing protective gas and be poured off.
With the method according to the invention one succeeds exceptionally thorough deoxidation and, at the same time, surprisingly powerful desulphurisation the melt. The oxides precipitated during deoxidization, e.g. B. those in deoxidation Silicic acid precipitating with silicon are quickly and by the shortest possible route the lime mixed with fluorspar is bound and then safely removed from the melt. The prerequisite for this is the elimination of oxidizing influences and constant Contact of the melt with the lime fluorspar mixture through which it flows.
The pile required for the pour-through process consists of a sintered mixture of lime and fluorspar from pea to walnut size. For pouring through is best a small shaft furnace with a bottom tapping, which can be heated either indirectly or directly. The direct heating takes place from the lower part of the furnace with incompletely combustible high-quality gases, z. B. with coke oven gas.
