Abstract

Esta invencion estA relacionada con la industria farmacÉutica y su proceso de obtencion a partir de los frutos de la palma real (Roystonea regia) para prevenir y/o tratar la hiperlasia prostAtica benigna (HPB) y la prostatitis. La composicion incluye una mezcla de Acidos grasos libres y/o sus Ésteres, eventualmente con un rango extendido entre 8 y 28 Atomos de carbono, especialmente aquellos entre 8 y 18 Atomos de carbono y mAs especialmente aquellos saturados de cadena lineal de 8, 10, 12, 14,16 y 18 Atomos de carbono, y los Acidos los monoinsaturados de 16:1 y 18:1 Atomos de carbono. Los Acidos grasos libres se enriquecen a partir de la hidrolisis de los Ésteres. Esta composicion se obtiene de los frutos de la palma real mediante un proceso de obtencion en el cual inicialmente se secan y muelen los frutos, y que incluye una hidrolisis bAsica del material vegetal para obtener un saponificado que ulteriormente se somete a una extraccion selectiva en solventes orgAnicos o bien una extraccion selectiva de la mezcla de Acidos grasos. Ambos procedimientos permiten obtener composiciones con propiedades farmacologicas similares que el extracto sin saponificar. Las mezclas así obtenidas son similares al ingrediente activo de diferentes formulaciones farmacÉuticas utilizadas en el tratamiento de la HPB y la prostatitis, así como otras enfermedades, tales como la alopesia y el hirsutismo. La presente invencion se relaciona con la industria farmacÉutica, pues la composicion farmacÉutica obtenida puede ser utilizada como tal o en formulaciones farmacÉuticas como medicamento contra la HPB, la protatitis, la alopecia y el hirsutismo.
