Description

   Dans chacune des pochettes 14,   c'est-à-dire    dans chacun des compartiments de l'emballage collectif 12, est enfermé un bas ou article analogue 16, enroulé ou replié de manière à se conformer au format des pochet-   tes et qui, conformément à un autre aspect de l'inven-    tion, est enveloppé dans un étui individuel 24 comportant une partie opaque 26 et au moins une fentre transparente 28;

Packaging for stockings or similar articles
The present invention relates to the packaging of stockings and the like.

We know that stockings are generally sold in pairs, each pair being enclosed in the same independent pouch. This has a number of drawbacks, in particular because it is thus impossible to buy a single stocking or an odd number of stockings; on the other hand, the pockets being classified by size, color, etc., in different compartments, it frequently happens, following handling, that these pockets are damaged or mixed up.

In order to eliminate these drawbacks, and taking into account the fact that a given stocking can be worn indifferently on the left or on the right, it has been proposed to enclose each stocking in an independent envelope or pocket, and to attach a certain number of 'identical envelopes or sleeves of a continuous strip capable of being torn between two successive envelopes. It immediately appears that this packaging makes it possible to sell the stockings one by one, and on the other hand that, each band naturally only having stockings of the same size and the same shade, any untimely mixture of stockings of different sizes or colors. is made impossible.

The object of the present invention is to provide the packaging for stockings <> 11 or similar articles of the type indicated, improvements likely to facilitate its manufacture and to improve the presentation and protection of the articles.

The packaging conforms to the invention, of the type comprising a continuous strip of separable pockets each of which contains a rolled up or folded article, is remarkable in that each of said articles is wrapped in an individual case comprising an opaque part bearing inscriptions and / or patterns and at least one transparent window showing the article and is enclosed in a separate compartment of a collective packaging in flexible transparent material.

The packaging according to the invention has the essential advantages, not only of ensuring an effective section and a pleasant and convenient presentation of the articles, but above all of lending itself particularly well to automatic mass production, allowing a very low unit cost. modest. Indeed, the prior conditioning of the articles in individual cases considerably facilitates their handling, since the risks of unwinding or unfolding, and especially of deterioration of the articles are practically eliminated; furthermore, the articles thus wrapped are of sufficient rigidity and of sufficiently regular dimensions to be handled automatically.

Furthermore, since the inscriptions and decorative patterns necessary for the identification and presentation of the key part are carried on its individual case, the collective packaging can be produced simply and economically from films of flexible transparent material devoid of 'impression; this packaging can therefore be easily made by a purely automatic route, and in particular continuously.

Other advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly on reading the description which follows, of a non-limiting exemplary embodiment, illustrated by the appended drawing.

In this drawing, there is shown schematically a portion 10 of a continuous strip 12 of separable pockets 14 each of which contains a stocking or the like 16; the strip portion shown has five pockets, the last 14 'of which is shown open and partially detached.

The continuous strip 12 of pockets 14, which will be referred to hereinafter as collective packaging)) 12, is formed by the superposition of two films of flexible transparent material, for example based on cellulose, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc. ., secured by their corresponding longitudinal edges and along spaced transverse lines, for example by means of welds 20 and 22 respectively, to form separate closed compartments constituting the previously mentioned pockets 14. In order to allow easy separation of the pockets 14, without risk of inadvertent opening of the latter, the welds 22 are preferably quite wide and perforated along their center line.

   In each of the pockets 14, that is to say in each of the compartments of the collective packaging 12, is enclosed a stocking or similar article 16, rolled up or folded so as to conform to the format of the pockets and which, in accordance with another aspect of the invention, is wrapped in an individual case 24 comprising an opaque part 26 and at least one transparent window 28;

in the exemplary embodiment described and illustrated, each case 24 is in the form of a flattened sleeve formed by the assembly of a rectangular sheet of paper 26, the longitudinal edges of which are folded over and glued to the edges of a sheet of cellulosic material or the like 28; the sheet of paper 26 bears inscriptions allowing the identification of the article, such as the name of the model, the size and the price of the article, patterns or symbols revealing its origin, etc., and, optionally, color schemes or graphics intended to enhance its presentation, as is customary in the packaging of articles for sale.

The part of the transparent sheet 28, not covered by the sheet of paper 26, constitutes an elongated window along the entire length of the case 24, through which the texture and the shade of the article 16 are clearly visible, since the collective packaging 12 is itself perfectly transparent.

The packaging thus produced not only ensures excellent protection and a pleasant and convenient presentation of the articles, but also has the advantage of being of very low cost price, since it is formed of simple and inexpensive elements, including the manufacture and the implementation can be automated to a very large extent.

Firstly, it will be noted that the making of the individual cases 24, on the one hand, involves the usual techniques of cutting, printing and folding of the paper, and on the other hand, requires only a simple gluing which can be easily combined with the winding or folding operation of the article 16. The articles provided with their individual protective case 24 can, without inconvenience, be stored in bulk; in addition, the articles wrapped by their case have sufficient rigidity and sufficiently regular dimensions to be handled purely automatically, in particular for their placement in collective packaging 12.

It will be noted in the second place that the making of the collective packaging 12, whether it is carried out before or simultaneously with the positioning of the articles 16, consists in cutting, welding and possibly perforating, a flexible transparent material film, devoid of any impression; thus, the making of the collective packaging 12 is carried out from a raw material of manufacture and is freed from the constraints that would involve either the printing of said material during the making of the packaging, or else the relative positioning correct welds, perforations, etc., to be made on a material previously printed.

As has already been indicated, the making of the collective packaging 12 can be carried out either beforehand or simultaneously with the placement of the articles.

In the first case, a possible manufacturing process would consist in making the packaging 12 separately in its final form, except that the production of one of the welds 20 would be postponed until it is placed in each compartment, for example. the opening thus reserved, of an article 16 provided with its individual protective case 24.

The making of collective packaging 12 and the positioning of the wrapped articles 16 in their individual case can be carried out simultaneously by placing said articles between two strips of flexible transparent material, or alternatively between two folds of the same strip of said material, then welding said bands or said folds around each article. Of course, this method lends itself particularly well to continuous implementation, in which case the articles 16 packed in their cases 24 are brought one by one by an automatic dispenser between two strips of flexible transparent material which are then welded together. on either side of each article and on their corresponding edges - by means of jaws and / or welding wheels.
