a suitable acid is decomposed to form sulfur antimony and the corresponding sodium salt. It is expedient to use sulfuric acid, since then sodium sulfate is obtained, which is used in the first melting process. Even if a sulfur
EMI2.1
has been applied, the novelty in the present process is the important fact that the sodium sulphide is obtained as a by-product and is used to process the same ores with a lower antimony or arsenic content.
Thanks to the peculiar design of the first melting process, a circular process is created in which some of the starting materials (iron sulfur, sodium sulphate) are regenerated in a very simple way for reuse in the same melting process, while sodium sulfur is obtained as a by-product and can be used advantageously in further operations got.
If the ore to be processed contains a noble metal (gold, silver), this is precipitated after the first melting process in direct connection with the same, namely, according to the present process, by treating the entire melt consisting of sulfo salt, oxide and slag with metallic antimony or Arsenic, which is mainly added to the melt in small pieces. The addition of sulfur iron plays a major role in the initial Kehmelting process, because the precious metal is not only in the antimony compounds, but also in the rock, and in the latter in predominant quantities (especially in quartz-containing gangues).
From this rock, which forms a very good slag due to the content of kehosulfur iron and possibly soda, the precious metal is pulled down by the antimony or arsenic, precipitated, since the individual components of the melt are deposited according to their specific weight. It is the addition of the antimony hzw. Arsenic continued or repeated until practically all of the precious metal, e.g. B. gold content is concentrated in the same and then the remaining melt of the above
