Abstract
Se provee una composicion de polipéptidos que comprende uno o más polipéptidos, donde dichos polipéptidos son inmunogénicos en un vertebrado de manera que provocan que el vertebrado produzca células del sistema inmunitario capaces de reconocer por lo menos un epitopo de una fraccion de proteína de saliva de artropodo, donde la fraccion de proteína de saliva de artropodo tiene una masa de 40kDA o menos, y donde los polipéptidos están seleccionados independientemente de: a) las secuencias de polipéptidos de SEC ID 1-44 o sub-secuencias de estas secuencias, donde las sub-secuencias tienen 7 amino ácidos o más; o b) de secuencias polipeptídicas que tienen 85% de homología o más con una o más de las secuencias anteriores y que están contenidas en una o más de las bases de datos siguientes: GenBank, Proteína Data Bank (PDB), SwissProt, Proteína Information Resource (PIR),r Proteína Research Foundation (PRF), o traducciones de CDS de éstos. Polipéptidos utiles en la manufactura de un medicamento o vacuna eficaz en el tratamiento o prevencion de una enfermedad transmitida por artropodos.
