Abstract
En elektrolysecelle for å fremstille et smeltet metall som har en tetthet lavere enn en tetthet til en smeltet elektrolytt anvendt for å produsere metallet i cellen. Cellen inkluderer en seksjon for elektrolysen av et salt av metallet inneholdt i en smeltet elektrolytt for å danne dråper av metall i smeltet form inneholdt i elektrolytten; elektroder innen elektrolyseseksjonen for å utføre elektrolysen; en metallgjenvinningsseksjon for å separere metallet fra elektrolytten for å danne et smeltet metallag, som har en øvre overflate, som flyter på en øvre overflate av den smeltede elektrolytten; en tappeanordning for periodisk fjerning av smeltet metall fra cellen; og et reservoar for å fjerne og midlertidig holde smeltet metall separert fra elektrolytten i metallgjenvinningsseksjonen. Reservoaret har en anordning for å fjerne væske fra reservoaret uten å permanent fjerne væsken fra cellen. Reservoaret har en topp, sider og bunn og har en eller flere åpninger i toppen eller sidene i beholderen som kommuniserer med metallgjenvinningsseksjonen.
