Abstract

Oppfinnelsen vedrører et elektrolysekar (1) for å oppnå aluminium som omfatter: en katodekasse (2), minst en katodeblokk (6) anbragt i det minste delvis i katodekassen (2), minst en anode (11) suspendert over katodekassen og neddyppet i den øvre delen av elektrolysekaret, og en isolator (3) som i det minste delvis dekker den indre overflaten av katodekassen (2) og som er lokalisert mellom katodeblokken (6) og katodekassen (2), idet katodekassen og elementene som den inneholder definerer en digel (10) som skal motta et elektrolysebad i kontakt med katodeblokken (6), og som er kjennetegnet ved at isolatoren (3) i det minste delvis er dannet med hjelp av karbonbaserte blokker (14) som har en termisk ledningsevne som er mindre enn 1 W/m/K.
