Abstract
Fremstillingen er rettet på en prosess for fremstilling av separerbart jern og titanoksider fra en malm inneholdende titanoksid og ferrioksid, omfattende: (a) dannelse av agglomerater omfattende karbonbaserte materialer og malmen idet karbonmengden i agglomeratene er tilstrekkelig til ved en forhøyet temperatur å redusere ferrioksid til ferro-oksid og danne et ferro-oksidrikt smeltet slagg, (b) agglomeratene innføres på et karbonlag i en beveget herdeovn; (c) agglomeratene oppvarmes i den bevegede herdeovn til en temperatur tilstrekkelig til å redusere og smelte agglomeratene for å frembringe et ferro-oksidrikt smeltet slagg; (d) ferro-oksidet i det smeltede slagg metalliseres ved reaksjon av ferro-oksidet og karbonet i karbonlaget ved en ovnstemperatur tilstrekkelig for å opprettholde slagget i en smeltet tilstand; og (e) størkning av slagget etter metallisering av ferro-oksidet til å danne en matriks av titanoksidrikt slagg med et flertall metalliske jerngranuler fordelt der igjennom; og (f) separering av de metalliske jerngranuler fra slagget, idet slagget omfatter mer enn 85% titandioksid basert på hele vekten av matriksen etter separasjon av det metalliske jern.
