En fremgangsmåte for kjemisk behandling av lignocellulosematerialer og særlig minst ett stykke ved kjennetegnes ved at materialene underkastes impregnering med et kjemisk middel omfattende hydrokarbonkjeder idet dette middel er valgt blant blandede anhydrider bortsett fra det blandede anhydrid av eddiksyre og benzosyre, hvorved midlet som benyttes er i stand til å gi kovalent poding av et antall hydrokarbonkjeder til materialene av ved.
