Abstract

The process is for the prodn. of lead from sec. lead in a refining furnace which is fed with materials (I) contg. Pb; a carbonaceous material (IIe; and fluxes. Air is fed into the furnace to react with (II) to obtain CO for melting and reducing (I) to obtain molten Pb which is drawn from the furnace. Before the air is fed into the furnace, 1-8, pref. 1-5 wt % of steam, and 0.5-5, pref. 1-3 wt % oxygen, are added to the air. The process is used for recovering Pb from scrap batteries and process wt. etc. and increases the amt. of Pb recovered.
