Abstract

Jets of water produce a mixture of solids and water flowing out of the reactor. The remaining suspension of fine particles in water is taken to a zone where the suspension is brought together by turbulence with a binder to agglomerate the fine particles. The agglomerates in the water are filtered from the stream resulting from contact with the binder and then absorbed into the feeds for the thermal cracking process. Specifically the binder is a light hydrocarbon.
