Abstract

Disclosed is a heat-extensible fiber including a first resin component, and a second resin component that has a lower melting point or softening point than the melting point of the first resin component, wherein the second resin component is continuously present along the length direction on at least a portion of the surface of the fiber, and the heat-extensible fiber is extensible in length by heating. The rate of change ({(B-A)/A}x100) of a heat-extension rate B at 10°C above the melting point of the second resin component with respect to a heat-extension rate A at 6°C below the melting point of the second resin component is 130% or greater. Preferably, the first resin component is made of a polylactic acid, and the second resin component is made of a polyolefin. Also, preferably, the rate between the percentage of crimp (%) measured according to JIS L1015 and the number of crimps (count) measured according to JIS L1015 (percentage of crimp (%)/number of crimps (count)) is from 0.45 to 0.75 inclusive.
