Abstract

Esta invencion se refiere al uso de soluciones acuosas o bien dispersiones de copolimeros que se obtienen mediante la copolimerizacion de radicales de: (a) entre 20 y 90% en peso de al menos un acido de dicarboxilico C4-C6 monoetilenicamente insaturados o su anhidrido como componente A; (b) entre 5 y 50% en peso de al menos una olefina C2-C6 componente B; (c) entre 5 y 50% en peso de al menos un comonomero hidrofobico seleccionado dentro del grupo que comprende las olefinas de cadena larga, esteres de alcoholes de cadena larga con acido acrilico o bien acido metacrilico, amidas de amidas de cadena larga con acido acrilico o bien acido metacrilico y los eteres de alquilvinilo de cadena larga como componente C; y (d) entre 0 y 40% en peso de comonomeros adicionales que pueden ser copolimerizados con los monomeros antes mencionados como componentes D; el total de las cantidades de componentes A, B, C y opcionalmente D es de 100% en peso. Este proceso de copolimerizacion es seguido por una esterificacion al menos parcial o hidrolisis y neutralizacion y/o reaccion con bases de los grupos carboxilo que aparecen durante la hidrolisis. Estas soluciones o bien dispersiones se emplean para el tratamiento del cuero y/o de las pieles.
