Abstract

La invención se refiere al uso de bajos niveles de ésteres saturados de cadena corta alifáticos para controlar la formación de huecos de aire en cualquier reacción de polimerización exotérmica en la cual la reacción exotérmica excede el punto de ebullición del monómero. Una de tal polimerización es la polimerización a granel de uno o más monómeros que tienen monómeros de éster de ácido carboxílico, en un nivel de al menos 10% de monómero total. Se usan los ésteres saturados de cadena corta alifáticos en la mezcla de polimerización en niveles de 0.5 a 10 por ciento en peso, basado en el monómero que contiene carboxilo. La invención es especialmente útil en la polimerización de polímero y copolímeros de metilmetacrilato, ya sea netos o como un sistema compuesto de polímero.
