Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para la producción de ácido sulfúrico concentrado y óleum de gases de alimentación con hasta 70% de SO2 + SO3 (SOx) y un contenido de H2O que corresponde a relaciones molares de H2O/SO3 de hasta 1.6, particularmente en el intervalo de 0.5 a 1.6 corriente arriba de un condensador intermedio de ácido sulfúrico que comprende un circuito de recirculación de aire con adición de agua. El proceso de la invención minimiza el consumo de energía de la planta de ácido sulfúrico al reducir el consumo de agua de enfriamiento y obtener la recuperación máxima posible del calor liberado en el proceso para la producción de vapor a alta presión para la producción de energía. Hasta 99.95% del SOx en el gas de alimentación se puede recuperar como típicamente 98.5-99.5% en peso de ácido sulfúrico concentrado y/u óleum con hasta 25% en peso de SO3.
