Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un proceso mejorado para preparar catalizadores de plata utiles para produccion en fase de vapor de oxido de etileno desde etileno y oxigeno. Un soporte inerte es impregnado con una solucion de una cantidad cataliticamente efectiva de un compuesto que contiene plata, una cantidad promotora de un compuesto que contiene metal alcalino, y una cantidad promotora de un compuesto que contiene metal de transicion. El soporte impregnado es calcinado mediante calentamiento a una temperatura desde 200 degree Chasta aproximadamente 600 degree Cpara convertir la plata del compuesto que contiene plata, en plata metalica y descomponer y remover sustancialmente todos los materiales organicos. El calentamiento se lleva a cabo bajo una atmosfera que comprende una combinacion de un gas inerte y desde 10 ppm hasta aproximadamente 5% por volumen de un gas del componente oxidante que contiene oxigeno.
