Not a happy client here !

Not a happy client here !
Been going to vetlife clinic for several years, dogs had 4 surgeries there, went thru the care of 6 puppies and we never complained, always found them caring and knowledgeable.
Last year in December my dog got treated for an eye injury that required multiple appointments.Bills been paid at the counter of the day of each appointment. After third appointment I had an uncomfortable situation with receptionist! I got told that last literally 2 minutes checkup (without green dye) was free of charge but 2days later I got told that I have an outstanding fee for the last check up, after me telling her "sorry but I got told was free of charge" she gave me a " look" and made me feel like "a thief". I paid for it and never complained. After 3 or so follow up vistits, female vet said that eye is looking better , few days later we manage to be seen by vet Tony, which we found previously helpful, we got told that eye isn't looking good and needs to be cleaned under anesthesia.
No complains here, fully trusted their skills and knowledge, all bills paid on the dates of each treatment, dog recovered well.
Almost 6 months later, with no previous communication, txt, emai or a letter saying we owe any money,l I got a txt that we have an outstanding $ and need to be paid before further actions will be taken.
I rang and ask what is the bill as we paid all at the date of appointments and receptionist didn't have much to say, just send me an email that we owe $33 . After checking my bank account I found that payment of $135 has been made on the date of appointment stated on unpaid invoice. Rang them and said it looks like it has been paid and if I could talk to the manager, that I wasn't happy with their communication and billing.Different receptionist again didn't have much to say...it would be easy to say " hey will find out for you, sorry about this , maybe it just got lost in invoicing"
No follow up call from manager or owner .
Instead I got a patronizing email written by ChatGPT "we understanding that you will need to find an alternate Veterinary Care Provider that will (hopefully) meet your expectations"

Sad to see turning caring clinic from Oxford rd, to money hungry business on Blackett st.
Pathetic communication from the clinic over silly $33 bill !
And yes, we will happily move to different vet clinic, plenty of them in the area!

Local vet

Changed to New Brighton Vet Life after many years at other Vet practice closed re Cov and Vet shortages. Now reopened.
Receptionist very helpful and friendly and have never had problems getting appointments when my dog is sick. Nice to be local. Many different Vets at practice, so bit like the GP, never quite sure who you will see, BUT all very thorough and caring

Very thoughtful and thorough

Very thoughtful and thorough. I changed vets in town because I felt like I was shaken upside down to empty my pockets at each visit (previous vet's).
Great service, reasonable fee for services. Thankyou.

Profit rules over pet wellbeing

It's becoming more evident every time we attend the clinic that revenue is the priority over animal wellbeing. Everyone should be entitled to make a living and run a profitable business, but the way we are being charged is blatant daylight robbery and the pressure to undertake unnecessay procedures is unprofessional. The 'upsell' happens everytime we attend and it's really frustrating. They've clearly lost sight of what's really important. After several years of attending our local clinic, I will be going elsewhere going forward.

Thank you S Gillies for your feedback. We work hard to ensure that we offer the highest standards of service with client satisfaction front of mind, recommending only services that would benefit an animal's health. It is always disappointing to learn when a client does not feel that this has been the case. We have reviewed your case and whilst we are more than happy to discuss this with you – for your privacy we don’t wish to do it on an open forum – please send a private message to feedback@vetlife.co.nz
