Great tuition and mentors very professional company

Great education if you want to successfully trade futures, this is really a game changer.

This is the second review I have written for UA. The first review was good because I was in the middle of the course and they told me they would give me free software called Bias Finder if I wrote a good review. So, I wrote a good review, and honestly, at the time, I thought the Algo Fast Course I was taking was good.

But that was more than six months ago, and I have a very different opinion now. Specifically, I've had a very poor experience with the algos they provide as part of the course. The MDD (Million Dollar Database) comes standard with the course. But once you complete the course they push very hard to sell you additional modules. These include the UPD (Unger Personal Database) and the VIP database of student strategies.

The strategies they sell as part of the course violate every rule they teach in the course about not curve fitting. In the course you are taught that simpler strategies are always better. Yet the strategies in the UPD, the MDD, and the VIP database (more than 200 strategies in total) are all fairly complex, with as many as 10, 15, 20 inputs or more that can be optimized. These are clearly not simple strategies, and with all those inputs to optimize, all of these strategies are terribly curve fit. How do I know? Because all of the equity curves, built on in-sample data, are beautiful, but they all break down on out-of-sample data. They do not trade well after they are released because they are so over-optimized, which UA constantly teaches is the biggest sin in trading! So the strategies are all junk; they do not trade well on live, out-of-sample data.

Secondly, they do not include trading costs (slippage and commissions) in their backtests. This is a huge red flag, as everyone knows that slippage and commissions can add significantly to costs, and cause the equity curve to break down.

Finally, most of their strategies are built on shorter time frames - 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes sometimes one hour. This is a common trick to get more signals and more trades, but it also adds a lot to your trading costs, which is probably why they only show equity curves without the trading costs.

In summary, the UA strategies do not follow the UA course rules for strategy development. They are complicated, extremely curve fit, do not include trading costs, and trade poorly on out-of-sample data. So, I feel deceived. I believe UA makes money selling their courses, but I would be surprised if any of the students or UA staff make money trading the strategies they sell to their students.

My Response to Unger Academy's reaction to my review:

You absolutely did request a review in exchange for the Bias Finder software. I was happy to give that review at the time because I was happy with the course at that time. But to claim that you did not request the review is just false. And to call it a "gift" after students pay upwards of US $6,000 for the course is an insult. For that price the Bias Finder software should be included in the basic course.

Regarding the strategies, neither I nor anyone else should deploy the strategies blindly. That's why I evaluated every UA strategy and discovered that they had all been curve fit and over optimized. It is quite easy to look at the equity curves of the strategies that you sell and see that they perform poorly on out-of-sample data.

This is what bothers me most. The course constantly warns of the dangers of curve fitting, yet the strategies that you sell to your students are terribly curve fit. It leads me to believe that you are more interested in creating pretty equity curves than building tradable strategies for your students.

Moreover, you say these strategies are not "plug-and-play". That's fine, but don't you think the strategies you publish should at least trade well on out-of-sample data? Also, why haven't you included trading costs? And finally, the Unger Personal Database does not come with source code. So how are we supposed to turn those strategies into something that is tradeable? You cannot evaluate and adapt a strategy that has no source code. And I find it hard to believe that Andrea Unger trades these strategies personally.

Why not just admit that your strategies are not tradeable and stop digging yourself deeper. And you never explained why you don't include trading costs in your strategies. As an algo trading education company it seems to me that you should follow your own development methodology. If you had done so you would not be publishing and selling strategies that are terribly over optimized. And if you were honest about your equity curves they should include commission and slippage costs.

Finally, your attempt to suggest that maybe I didn't follow the development rules or should have talked to my coach is a non-argument. UA is the one that did not follow its own development approach.

I took the leap of faith less than six months ago, and i am already seeing the fruits of enrolling to Unger Academy...and i finally feel confident in what i do in my trading, each day.

I tried trading on the stock market for several years. I read lots of books on trading and took several courses. I tried different trading methods and knew that I wanted to focus on automated trading. However, even after several years, the results were not very satisfactory. One day, I stumbled upon an advertisement for Unger Academy on YouTube. After watching it, I realized that this was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the book and eventually purchased the course. The content of the course completely exceeded my expectations. It has everything you need. I started trading according to the Unger method very soon, and the results improved rapidly. I can recommend Unger Academy to anyone who is willing to devote a lot of time to studying, is persistent, technically proficient, thinks systematically, and can work independently.

Purchased thinking this was another scam.. there has to be someone out there with honest training.. so needed to take the chance.. so far trainingbis excellent.. with a coach to help makes a massive difference with a training buddy to.. very excited about the future now.. thanks..

The education program and the strategy templates that serve the academy's approach are both priceless!

To know how they are bad you can I write two times they are bad more than a month and one replied because they are .. I keep writing as this may help some one to not looose his money and not small amount but large amount more than 5000 euro for nothing and just bad experience with very bad decision I took to pay alll the money before being sure they worth it as once you pay you you can find any one care and you loose all these money

Great Experience! I needed to learn from someone that has done this before to make the best use of my time. So far, I have learned a lot in a short amount of time, and this training covers both the theoretical and the practical application of the concepts. Most training programs will leave you guessing on what to do next. This approach is different. However, you will need to study and really learn the material in detail. You also have access to a training coach that can answer questions and get you up to speed quickly.

i was not coatched as expected and randomly once weekly and when i contacted to change my coatch i did not get any respon=se ..i was so frustrated as i paied a lot of money with zero benifits as wothout good coatching it is very hard to go throughthe course ..i am very frustarted .. i had replied to Unger support as they suggested in the reply and hope to get any response

Hearing about the countless online scams on the subject, it took me a while to enroll in the Unger Academy.

I must say that I was struck by their professionalism and availability and even though, for work reasons, I am not exactly an excellent student, they have never abandoned me! They have been and are always present.

If the expectation is to be profitable long term, forget it. It is mainly a basic training on how to use easy language or power language (but at very high price!). The Unger method...it is not a method that guide you in finding a good strategy : if you follow the steps and find something theoretically working , when you go live...it is not and the reply from them and community is....overfitting!

Awesome experience

This is an excellent company, focused on you and your success as a trader. I had a family crisis that slowed my progress on the "From 0 to Trader ...." course and UA extended the time for me to complete it. They did this on their own, I did not request it.
The courses are equally excellent with videos, text, numerous examples of profitable systems (including code) and personal coaching. Between the Algo Fast program and 0 to Trader everything is there. From 0 to Trader in 8 weeks is, primarily, about the infrastructure. How to put the trading hardware software and data together in an automated trading platform running on a VPS(which they provide for the duration of the course) and to maintain everything. Algo fast is all about how to trade. Strategies, system building, money management and testing. Coaching, too. Books, videos, training sessions, community and text. It is all there for you to take the opportunity and succeed. Highest possible recomendation! Thank You UA and special Thanks to my coach, Marco.

Davide is a great coach, you can learn a lot. You need to dedicate time and effort. But it’s worth it!

Just my experience, it was heavily marketed with a few phone calls (prior to that emails all the time) interviewing me and exploiting my interest in trading. I was told I would get Unger's codes, in fact they were student codes. I was oversold on how it would solve my trading issues, vastly undersold on how it's a programming course. I'm not the type looking for a short cut by any means, but I didn't expect that I would have to learn how to code to get this done. The support is decent, but being from the US expect it to be at odd times and they have heavy accents. It's basically hit and run support. I'd be willing to up my review if they reopened my training. I gave up since I could no longer login to the platform. Pretty weak in my opinion after spending $5000 on this. I think for $5000 they should have someone get you up to speed on the platform show you how to use the student codes first, versus throw 10 books at you and a t-shirt. For some that are very into programming versus trading it may be a better fit.
