I've been a customer for the last few years and have always been super happy with the service. Always a really quick and helpful response to queries and a platform that helps the process go smoothly. Andrew Turner has just finished helping me with this year's self assessment and was great, answering my questions promptly and making sure it was submitted as smoothly as possible - huge thanks and highly recommend.

I was changing to them because i heard great things. Just to be clear, I need an Accountant because I do not understand taxes, I was naive enough to belive - as I am still now - that this is what an accountant is for. My bad if this is not the idea of Accountancy Partnership and if i am misunderstanding this i am more than happy to take down this review again. As it tuns out, it is not, you just pay them every month but at the end of the year you end up paying a fee for missed filing (yes, i did not not book payroll, but i was very clear from the start of my contract that I do in fact need deadline remionders which I was told to receive, and they also tell you that they cant do the end of the year taxes because you changed the program and the old information has gone which whiles asking when doing the change was not communicated that i should have done something - whatever that should have been. So noone is doing my taxes, i have to pay a fee and am left with a pile of problems. Which will most likely will cost my more fees and I need to hire a proper accountant who I ahve to pay again to redo what i payd for... What a waste of money

I joined TAP after an absolutely dire previous experience with another accountant. Ultimately, I feel like an accountant should give peace of mind and make this side of running your business something you don't need to worry too much about.

I've received that in abundance since the move, with my lead (Lisa Hinton-Hill) being an absolute superstar in helping me understand and unpick the issues created by my last accountant.

The Accountancy Partnership took me on for my company and personal tax and then comprehensively failed me. Their accountant, Mark McCormack, flatly told me I "won't need to file" a Self-Assessment as a company director. I didn't just accept it - I questioned it directly. I was waved away. That advice was completely wrong, and it cost me.

The deadline was missed. A £100 HMRC penalty landed, then grew to over £700 and is STILL climbing - entirely because of their error, not mine. Worse, they'd never even finished the HMRC authorisation needed to act for me, so they were powerless to fix the mess they'd created.

Then came the excuses. I was repeatedly told the matter had been "removed with HMRC." HMRC confirmed that was untrue - it had never been done, and the firm didn't even have the authority to do it. Whether that's incompetence or dishonesty, I'll let others judge; either way it is unacceptable from professionals people trust with their finances.

Every reply was a throwaway one-liner. No ownership, no apology, no urgency, no plan - just "chase it yourself" and an HMRC phone number, as if their failure was now my problem to solve. I handed over every document on time and chased for months. The contempt for the client was staggering.

Zero competence. Zero honesty about their own mistakes. Zero care. Formal complaint now filed. Do not let this firm anywhere near anything with a deadline.

As this is my first year running a limited company, I was looking for an accountant who would provide not only compliance services but also proactive advice and support to help me navigate the financial and tax implications of running the business. In practice, I haven't felt that this has been the case.

Some examples include:

- Emails often going unanswered for several days, including my most recent request for a year-end planning meeting, which has now been outstanding for over a week despite me sending a follow-up. In the end a call was never offered and a templated email was received providing no tailored support.
- Communication generally being driven by me, rather than receiving proactive advice or reminders about upcoming obligations and planning opportunities.
Important actions often being communicated at very short notice.
- My VAT return being submitted late, resulting in penalties, without this being highlighted or discussed with me beforehand.
- The client portal has never functioned correctly for me despite attempts to use it and several requests for it to be set up appropriately.
- A large volume of automated emails, with relatively little personalised communication.
- Responses frequently feeling templated and administrative rather than providing practical advice or helping me understand the decisions I need to make as a business owner.

Over the last year I've invested a significant amount of time educating myself on areas such as corporation tax, dividends, pensions, VAT, cash flow and planning because I haven't felt I've been receiving the level of guidance I was expecting from my accountant.
