Negative review of Dounemount Nursing Home, Macduff and the parent companies, Belsize Healthcare and The Care Concern Group to put on carehome.co.uk.
Wanted to highlight two issues.
Firstly my Relative's severe weight loss and my concerns about how well they were being fed (or not) in the home.
Secondly, wanted to warn others that pre-admission the Manager might verbally tell them things about finances and rooms etc. that later prove inaccurate / wrong / untrue. Post admission, she will deny what she said previously and quote the many terms and conditions in their 20 plus page contract.
The Manager obviously did not want my review published and pointed out to carehome.co.uk that I had not signed the visitors book in the home for more than a year. She is actually correct about that as it is over a year since my relative died there.
(NB carehome.co.uk questioned me about whether I signed the visitor's book on the day I rushed into the place to try to see my relative once last time before they died minutes later!)
Despite the fact that it is over a year since the family have been to the home, it is only a month since we last had contact with the "caring" company as they continue to hassle a grieving widow for payment of a disputed Invoice (actually they are still due a refund to the estate of the dead relative).
I think this policy of carehome.co.uk (only allowing reviews by people who have been in the home in the last 12 months) favours the Homes. For example, in my case I had to recover a bit from bereavement before I got to a place where I could start writing online reviews. Unfortunately it seems I am too late for carehome.co.uk
Possibly the homes on carehome.co.uk pay the website publisher for advertising or for hosting the homes details? This alone would make the website a bit biased?
Perhaps Google Reviews would give more information and a truer reflection of what a home is really like?

I think I got honest answers and found a care home in 2 days. The one that I thought was best I wouldn't have visited without help.

Within an hour of enquiring, we had a phone call to discuss our Mum, then a short while after we received a shortlist of homes suitable for my Mum.
The homes then contacted us.
Amazing service. Thank you ☺️

I have been impressed with their support Especially ringing on a Sunday. The fact they are taking some of the pressure of me means a lot. They are very approachable too. Thank you.
