I have been quite impressed with the Nuki smart locks. They are very easy to install and the apps are working great. And more important, they can be installed and controlled locally, without a mandatory cloud. I have also contacted their support for some technical questions and got a good answer very quickly. Quite happy with their service so far.

The NUKI Smart Lock is a great solution to automize the door lock, and the company gives you fast and competent support in any case when you need help.

I've had the keypad/lock/bridge combination operational since 2018 without any issue.
Yesterday I upgraded the keypad firmware as per Nuki advise.
The upgrade resulted in a bricked keypad (it does not respond to any key press, leaving the batteries out overnight did not fix the issue).
Now they tellme it is out of warranty and I have to buy a new keypad.
There is nothing wrong wih the hardware, the software update killed it.
Another 90 euro investment because Nuki screwed up. Thanks Nuki customer service !!!!

I bought the Nuki Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen) along with the Keypad (1st Gen) for my Airbnb rental — a total investment of around €400. I chose Nuki for the security it offers and because it's a European company. 🇪🇺

👍 The lock quality is very good, and overall I liked the product. That said, I ran into several issues during installation and use that are worth sharing.

🔧 Installation
The lock offers three mounting options: small screws that clamp onto the existing cylinder, adhesive stickers, or DIY screws directly into the door.

I went with the mini-screw option, and ended up tightening it so much that the cylinder could no longer be turned with the key. 😬 After loosening it, the lock started wiggling as if it were coming loose. In the end, I had to screw the mount directly into the door to relieve the pressure on the cylinder and stop the wobbling.

📶 Setup and Wifi Connectivity
The initial setup was easy, but getting the remote Wifi connection to work was tricky. There are two Wifi modes: Compatibility and Optimized. From what I understand, Compatibility mode works with more routers but drains the battery faster. I ended up using Compatibility mode because Optimized simply wouldn't connect.

🔋 Battery Life
This is where the biggest disappointment came in. On a full charge, the battery lasted only 17 days — compared to the four months Nuki advertises for a Wifi setup. 😩

After some research, I found that using the Matter protocol instead of Wifi can significantly improve battery life. However, that requires an additional Matter-compatible hub, adding roughly another €100 to the total cost. 💸

🎧 Customer Support
I still have an open support ticket to investigate the battery issue. So far, the advice I've received is to test battery life under two configurations: the Balanced battery profile, and disabling the Wifi module entirely. I'll update this review once I have more results.

✅ Pros: excellent build quality, strong security features, European company
❌ Cons: mounting hardware can damage the cylinder if over-tightened and can loosen over time, Wifi setup and connection modes are confusing, battery life falls far short of the advertised figure when using Wifi, achieving better battery life requires buying an additional Matter hub (~€100 extra)

I would give zero if possible.

We run an 8-room hotel and rely on Nuki's Smart Hosting subscription for guest access to all rooms. We paid in full for a 1-year Smart Hosting plan (Order #DX2EVD6I) and were explicitly told by a Nuki support agent on 6 July 2026 that the subscription was valid and confirmed until 2027 — no issues flagged at that point.
Despite this, our Smart Hosting subscription for all 8 locks disappeared from our account and stopped working, disrupting live guest check-ins for over 3 days. We raised this immediately (ticket #826523) and have been in contact with multiple agents since. Every response has been a variation of "this has been escalated to the relevant team" with no actual fix, no timeline, and no explanation of why a fully paid subscription failed in the first place.
We repeatedly asked to speak to a manager to discuss what is, in effect, a breach of a paid service contract, and were told this wasn't possible. Meanwhile, we've lost bookings and revenue because guests could not access their rooms.
If you're considering Nuki for a business that depends on reliable access, be aware that when something goes wrong, there is no clear escalation path and no accountability — only scripted apologies.

Great product and great support in case something go wrong.

I had an issue activating the extended warranty. It got resolved fast and easy via a couple of emails and they did it for me. Excellent customer service! 💯
