Despite several complaints this company…

Despite several complaints this company has made zero effort to improve its online services. The app is useless and doesn’t work logs you out several times. The website is even worse I have been waiting for a 6 digit code for the past hour but waiting to log in to my account as I am in desperate need to withdraw money but their website and app is useless as ever!!!! All these positive reviews on trustpilot is about good online services are these fake reviews as these people were invited to write reviews!!!! Why did you never send me an invite for a review?

NS&I are the embodiment of…

NS&I are the embodiment of incompetence. I took out premium bonds for my son when he was a child to value of £100. Now he is in his 20s naturally he wants control. NS&I have failed to change his address (from filling in their own form) and after 6 weeks still haven't carried out the most basic of tasks. Customer service, whilst polite, just offer bumbling excuses. Absolute shower to deal with.

When will NS&I choose to pay my bereavement claim

I applied for probate after the death of my darling husband presenting all documentation to NS&I over TWENTY (20) weeks ago.

I have complained about the delayed release of my money many times to NS&I only to be told on different occasions that there are other people waiting for money but that would not matter to me and that they are working through all claims in date order. When NS&I eventually do pay I already know that I will not be receiving any compensation.

My family have been loyal NS&I customers but some NS&I colleagues have treated me with such disrespect. My head was so mashed last year and I was in shock having to watch my husband die in ICU that I didn’t manage to get our savings out in time and all they would offer is on presentation of an invoice - payment for his funeral. I didn’t trust them to follow through and now feel very much vindicated. The funeral home could not be expected to wait indefinitely for payment.

When I contact them - NS&I have been very opinionated in replies. I would say vicious and very much less than appropriate. The issue of all holdings not being paid out to bereaved families has been going on from 2008 to 2025. Anyone who is bereaved but not involved in this supposed search error has been totally abused by NS&I. We have just been added on to the end of the queue regardless of our circumstances. I have asked for a date but they do not take me seriously and I am told I will just have to keep waiting.

NS&I are paper based and all correspondence comes by post. I feel that I am still at the point of bereavement because this was household money (savings). They encourage you to save with them. Tell you your money is safe. SAFE comes with the ability to access your money should you need to. I have been told twice now that it would be up to 8 weeks but the money never appears.

My husband died over a year ago. NS&I’s lack of concern that the money they are withholding from bereaved families is hard earned SAVINGS placed in NS&I’s care instead of a high street bank. They have seriously contributed to making it a very stressful year for me.

No option to speak to a person and bot was useless

Simply wanted to know how to see the transactions of a Bond that had just matured. No option but to speak to the Bot who didn't provide the answer. No facility to speak to a person. Was so frustrated, decided to close account but was then logged out so I will not be able to see if that worked for two days. Disgusting.

My sister near death tried to transfer…

My sister near death tried to transfer her funds. It would not let her. It said she would have to ring up but she was too poorly.
She has since died soon after and they have been very awkward at getting the correct advice from them.
Considering she left a will which was signed and witnessed they insisted we needed to obtain probate even though she did not own a house and all other agencies took the will and her sons id to transfer funds.
NSI said due to the amount being over 5k we need probate. Probate asked why are we applying for this as due to her estate she does not need it. NSI government savings are making money out of us to get her inheritance for her son! £550 it has cost so far unbelievable and very unfair when not another single agency has requested it!! Very frustrating and poor service at a really difficult time.

Worst company I have ever dealt with

Worst company I have ever dealt with. When my daughter turned 16 they took away all access to her account. She is nearly 18 now and we still don’t have access. Customer services are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Everything is done my post, their systems are very outdated. Once we get access to her money again we will be taking it out immediately and investing in an actual bank.

NS&I is incapable of basic service

NS&I isn't even capable of operating a website or offering reasonable times to speak to anyone. As far as I can tell, it's pretty much dead on its feet. Impossible to contact anybody, or see my accounts. Just a mass of obfuscation and confusion. Why is it everybody else can give savers and investors a simple gateway to their investments and NS&I can't.

I would rather get a lower return than deal with NS&I

The website makes the customer experience awful. Only about half of the instructions actually work which then requires you to call. Once past the infuriating AI bot, the wait is always 30 mins plus. The people who eventually speak to try hard but its clear the tech they are working with is not fit. They "lost" my linked account details on 2 accounts. If this was a £250bn sized bank, the regulator would be holding management to account.
