Unacceptable refund delays and excuses – 12 days and counting

I am extremely frustrated with the post-sales and administration team at North Cork Electrical. A deposit refund was officially agreed upon on the 11th of June. After waiting a few days with no money arriving, I contacted them and was told they needed my bank details again. I provided them immediately.
After another few days of waiting, I contacted them a second time. This time, I was given the excuse that their "accounts team is on holidays" and my money still hasn't been returned.
It has now been 12 days since the refund was promised. Under Irish consumer law, refunds must be processed within 14 days, a deadline they are about to miss. Using an internal staff holiday as an excuse to hold onto a customer's money is highly unprofessional.
I will update this review only when the money is cleared in my bank account. Until then, be very careful paying a deposit to this company.

UPDATE (24th June): The company has responded to me privately via email at 18.30 on the 23rd June 2026 confirming that the refund will be made today , despite claiming publicly on another forum that they cannot find me. I will give another update on this tomorrow

FINAL UPDATE (25th June): Following my public reviews and direct escalation, the company has now successfully processed and returned my full deposit refund. While the initial administrative delay and communication were highly frustrating, the matter has now been fully resolved by management.

Excellent service. Installation guys were amazing. Very happy with the service.
Really happy with my panels. Clean and tidy.

Bad communication with NCE
Got 12 panels an inverter fitted a year ago system works well but every thing in-between was not.

Was told over the phone they would handle all the paper work for grant and when I was looking for an up date on it was told it was up to me to do and it was written in the bottom of some email they sent by then the grant had dropped down from 2100 to 1800 so lost 300 euro .

Had to get on to them about sending in the nc6 form as well for the esb it was May 2025 before esb informed me they got it solar panels were fitted around middle of December 2024 so lost 5 months of electricity going back to the grid not as much as an apology and all this is ment to be done before panels are fitted which I didn't know but a company around as long as NCE should know all this

Great company to deal with from start to finish.

NCE installed solar panels for us this year. From the outset Richard, Michael, and all the team were excellent. They did not try to oversell me a solution. Instead they helped me build one around my requirements. Excellent pre-sales and post-sales engagement. I had questions both before and after the installation - they were always quick to get back to me with an answer. Everything arrived and was installed on schedule. Very competitive on price. I highly recommend NCE to anyone considering a solar solution.

NCE provided me with a system for my garage roof. Delivery of material and installation crew all arrived as planned. Roofers installed the panels followed by the electricians, both crews were neat and tidy, excellent tradesmen. The system is up and running since May and we are seeing huge savings.

From start to finish I found North Cork Electrical a pleasure to deal with. We got 10 panels, inverter and battery installed. Once deposit was paid, the equipment was dropped, panels installed and the following week the electrician’s were on site. Very straightforward process, they handled all of the paperwork and The panels are working brilliantly. I would highly recommend them.

North Cork Electrical were good to deal with on our install of a 12 panel solar and battery installation, so much so that we got them back to extend the system with another 4 panels and a second battery a year later (which in retrospect we should have done from the beginning). Only downside was trying to get them back after the second install to swap out a faulty MCB they had installed.

North Cork Electrical were so easy to deal with. Had solar installed. Delighted with the service. Annie was a joy to deal with and really worked around our schedule for fitting etc. My wife says the lads installing and setting up were lovely and explained everything really well. All the other processes grant, grid application, BER etc were taken care of. I found the whole process really easy and pain free as a customer. Would highly recommend.

I can’t rate North Cork Electrical highly enough from advise on install and what we needed and also did not need , to any follow ups were all dealt with promptly and with no issues i would highly recommend

Got North Cork Electrical to install 13 PV panels on our home in September 2024 nearly 12 months on it’s been a fantastic system over the summer months cutting our electrical bills by over half and ramping up credit of electricity been sold to the grid to receive back off bills different times of the year there crews were a pleasure to deal with and installation was stress free and very Tidy and clean I can without hesitation recommend this company PS when the grant man came to inspect the work before grant was paid he mentioned that this company has one of best names on the list of recommended companies

I bought solar panels and an EV charger from North Cork electrical within the last 2 months. In each case, Richie and his team (from Annie in sales, to Claire in scheduling, Dylan in the office, and the installers) were very friendly, thorough and efficient throughout both of the purchases. I was taken by the slick and professional nature of the business where there are clear steps/processes/controls in place, with each person very capable/knowledgeable in their respective fields. I had many questions and discussed various different options over a few different meetings and calls which Richie and team were happy to address.
I wanted quality of both product and service given the money I was spending, and I got this with North Cork Electrical. I haven't had to avail of any after sales service but based on my experience, I would be confident that this would also be of a high standard. Would highly recommend North Cork Electrical as a vendor.

We had our Solar PV System installed on the 13th June. I found NCE were very professional from start to finish, the administration staff, the fitters and the electricians were a pleasure to deal with. They worked quietly and efficiently, and had the system up and running the same day. I will definitely recommend this company to family and friends
