The best dental insurance out there! I’m genuinely impressed by how quickly and smoothly reimbursements are processed. No unnecessary questions, no hassle — just straightforward reimbursements in line with the agreed policy benefits. The entire process is incredibly efficient and hassle-free. My only regret is not having taken out this insurance much sooner. Highly recommended.

Just take the public health insurance
When buying the insurance I was promised a swift and helpful concierge to help me book appointments.
Instead, it takes them 4 days to respond to every message.
I recently had an instance, where I needed to pass some medical history to the doctor before the appointment, when I contacted them with the request, they said they couldn't help me and asked me to directly contact the doctor. When I asked for the contact details, it took them another 4 days just to provide that.
And here is something no private insurance tells you. Every vaccine, every booster dose, you need to buy yourself, store it safely yourself and then take it to the clinic for it to administer it to you. This is a very big hassle.
Meanwhile, publicly insured patients get everything seamlessly. They have vials secured in the clinic for them. A single point of billing and don't need to upload invoices for everything.
The whole idea that privately insured patients get preferential treatment is also a myth.
This post is more abut private vs public in general. But I am mostly disappointed in ottonova because at the checkout they offered me this fast and helpful concierge service which is terrible in reality.

Support is helpful but company suffers from a systemic issue when it comes to claim processing times.
Sometimes I'm out of pocket long before I get reimbursed. Customer service seem to give canned responses about improving etc until you push a little harder to get any kind of turnaround on claims they don't consider basic. I think the basic ones are automated already.
They cite others being more complex but none of my claims are complex. They all fit into categories as per the tariff policies so I honestly don't know why they have such a bottleneck with claims.

I am so unhappy and stressed right now, I'm a young student, and Ottonova took up on the 1st of September, 125.86 euros from my account and then took 629.3 euros, after. I sent a message explaining how long I have been in the country, I sent them the proof like asked, and then was told I would get my refund after 5 working days, and that was last Thursday. My finances have been completely shaken off balance due to that. I have sent messages but nobody responded, this is really problematic.
