Promising tech ruined by awful support, aggressive account wipes, and zero communication

I joined OpenArt with high expectations and genuine optimism. The underlying technology, especially tools like Director AI, has serious potential and is capable of great work. Unfortunately, the customer support, billing logic, and account management surrounding the product make it an absolute nightmare for creators.

Here is how my experience went down:

1. Misleading Credit Scaling: The credit consumption on advanced tools is so aggressive that a standard monthly subscription allocation wasn't even enough to finish and export a single complete project.

2. Unilateral Account Termination: When I raised this issue with support asking for a solution or escalation, instead of working with me, the agent unilaterally issued a full refund and terminated my subscription. They used a full refund as a lazy shortcut to close the support ticket, instantly locking me out of my active project.

3. Ghosted & Deleted: I replied immediately, begging them not to delete my work. I explicitly stated that I was ready to pay again and just wanted my project preserved and escalated to a manager to sort out the credit issue. They completely ghosted me. Zero response to multiple follow-ups, while my account was left to time out and my project was permanently deleted.

Getting my money back doesn't compensate for lost weeks of work and destroyed expectations. OpenArt treats refunds as an escape hatch to avoid solving real product support issues, even if it means throwing away loyal, paying users.

Great tool with immense potential, but catastrophically bad support operations. Use it with extreme caution if you care about keeping your work safe.

Generation Errors Waste My Credits — The App Is Full of Mistakes

Honestly, I’m not very happy with the app. It makes a lot of mistakes, and even when you try to fix or correct something, it often gives you another incorrect result. On top of that, it still uses up your credits for these attempts, which is really frustrating.

To be honest, it sometimes feels like the app is designed more to take money from subscribers than to provide a good-quality service. I’ve been using the app for more than 6 months, and I paid for a one-year subscription, but honestly, I don’t think it’s worth the money.

I haven’t seen enough improvements during this time. I expected the app to become much more accurate and reliable, especially after being a subscriber for so long.

I hope you take users’ feedback seriously and make significant improvements, because at the moment, I don’t feel that I’m getting good value for what I paid.

AMAZING PLATFORM ❤️

IT'S AN AWESOME PLATFORM SPECIALLY FOR CREATING '' SPECIFIC '' (DIFFICULT) VIDEOS USING THEIR DIRECTOR MODE, AS WELL AS WITH SEEDANCE 2.0 (WHICH SEEDANCE 2.0 BY ITSELF, IS ALSO ANOTHER AMAZING TOOL ALL BY ITSELF SO-TO-SPEAK).

ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THEIR PLATFORM.

THE ABILITY TO CREATE/RECREATE VOICE OVERS FROM A SMALL SAMPLE, IS ALSO GROUND BREAKING !

I HAD SOME ISSUES ALSO WITH MY BILLING AND THE SUPPORT TEAM PROMPTLY RESOLVED AFTER A FEW EMAILS BACK X FORTH.

SO LOVE YOU GUYS MAN THANKS A LOT FOR EVERYTHING/FOR AN AMAZING PLATFORM AND FOR ALL THE HELP ❤️ !

OpenArt has been awesome to use

OpenArt has been awesome to use. I've been using them for several years, and haven't found much better for all-in-one and for the price. Of course, I wish the old price tiers were still in effect, but everything has gone up.

Too expensive for the output quality

Too expensive for the output quality. High hallucination rate. Horrible Lip Sync. Decent areas are motion sync and short film. Director mode should be listed as Beta and free to use until the bugs are worked out. 80,000 credits and an entire day lost for a 3 minute video, with pre-existing assets. Had to use other tools to assemble the wreckage produced into something halfway usable. At $240 per month not including tax, you'd think you could get decent output.

Still had to use other AI tools, definitely not an all in one as marketed; many free tools still perform better.

Maybe useful if you don't already have a direction in mind.

System overcharged me credits, they told me both the AI and I were wrong. Then, on the day before the billing cycle ended, 3 weeks later, they refunded 25,000 credits. Keep in mind credits do NOT roll over. What a scam!

Only giving 2 stars because I did get some great usable clips I can put together to make a decent project. Would not recommend for anyone with a clear visual direction and existing assets.

I would stay away. Completely unacceptable billing and cancellation experience

I strongly recommend staying away from OpenArt. There are plenty of alternatives for AI creative work and vibe directing, and after this experience I see no reason to trust this company with my payment details.

On September 3, I was charged for TWO separate renewals: my OpenArt subscription and an additional credits package.

The credits package is particularly concerning. I did not understand when purchasing additional credits that I was signing up for another recurring payment on top of an already recurring subscription that itself includes credits. If an additional purchase is going to create a second recurring charge, that should be impossible to miss at the moment of purchase.

I contacted OpenArt immediately on Thursday, the same day I was charged. I attached the receipts, explained exactly what happened and requested a refund. I have not used the renewed subscription or the newly charged credits.

It is now Saturday. No refund, no resolution and not even a response from support.

Then there is the cancellation process, which was honestly one of the worst I have experienced with a subscription service.

I had to go through what felt like around eight steps, repeated confirmation requests, provide a reason for leaving, navigate different pages and interfaces, and then seemingly repeat parts of the process again. After ALL of that, I was still left wondering whether cancelling my subscription had actually cancelled the separate recurring credits package too.

Think about that for a moment. Taking recurring payments is easy, but after going through an exhausting cancellation flow, I still could not confidently determine whether they could charge me again.

That is unacceptable.

My issue is not that OpenArt charges money or uses subscriptions. I pay for multiple AI services. My issue is the complete lack of transparency I experienced around what was recurring, the separate additional charge, the deliberately difficult-feeling cancellation experience, and then the complete silence from customer support when I contacted them immediately.

At a time when people are trusting relatively new AI companies with their cards and recurring payments, transparency should be the absolute minimum. The customer should NEVER have to wonder: “What exactly am I subscribed to?”, “Why was I charged this?”, or “Did I actually cancel everything?”

With OpenArt, I was left asking all three.

There are too many AI tools available today with better and more transparent customer experiences for me to recommend taking this risk.

My advice is simple: stay away.

And if you already use OpenArt, I strongly suggest checking your account carefully to understand exactly which subscriptions and recurring credit packages are active.

I am now waiting for OpenArt to refund both unused charges and confirm that ALL recurring payments have been cancelled. If they continue to ignore my request, I will dispute the charges through my card provider.

I will update this review if and when OpenArt responds. Until then, this is easily one of the worst subscription and billing experiences I have had with an online service.

This thing it’s a joke.

This thing it’s a joke.. keep asking questions and keep using your credit for no reason and with no results. Never make the video just keep updating and updating until you need to buy more credit.. worst investment ever..

No product received after paying $48 for a video

If you are reading this you probably already know what I'm going to say: I paid for a video I never received.

As mentioned in their own terms and policies: credits are used to generate output on OpenArt.

I purchased the basic plan for $14 and started making my video. The prompt asked me what quality of video and I said 1080, it quoted me about 300 credits. As it was "thinking and interacting with me" for a while I noticed my account balance of 4000 credits was nearly 0. It prompted me to upgrade the account to finish the task. Fine. I upgraded and spent another $34 dollars.

So then I returned to my computer and saw that it wanted another 40000 credits in order to "complete the task". What in the... So I reached out to the support, no response. I read in the arbitration agreement and tried to email their legal team... it bounced back. NO RESPONSE. NO PRODUCT.

How is this legal to charge paying customers for things they don't receive? Well, its not legal. No reasonable person would think they have to pay $48 to talk to a chatbot and still have to pay an extra $130 to get the video. Shame and unethical.

**CRITICAL CREDIT REFUND REQUEST

**CRITICAL CREDIT REFUND REQUEST: Corrupted Generation & Broken Model Response**

Hi Support Team,

I am posting here because I am incredibly frustrated with back-to-back system failures that just burned through a massive amount of my credits with zero usable output. I have already emailed support with the Asset IDs, but have had absolutely no response from you. I need visibility on this immediately as my paid resources were completely wasted.

**Issue 1: Seedance 2.0 (Corrupted Generation)**

* **Problem:** I spent a massive **3,500 credits** on an image-to-video generation using Seedance 2.0. I used the enhanced prompt feature to ensure the prompt structure was completely optimized. Once it finished processing, the system threw a "Corrupted" error. The video is completely broken, but my 3,500 credits are gone.
* **Asset ID:** [sYg8O8qB8ZrQd222HbEu]

**Issue 2: Kling (Ignored Prompts / Broken Output)**

* **Problem:** Right after, I tried a different image-to-video generation using Kling. Again, I used the enhanced prompt feature to ensure professional, clear instructions. The finished video completely ignored the basic movement prompts, rendering the final file entirely useless. More credits wasted on a broken generation.
* **Asset ID:** [ d92hj6UsBPS2X6ZkiJd3]

I did everything right on my end, used your own enhancement tools, and got hit with system glitches and broken outputs. I am down thousands of credits for absolutely nothing.

Can a moderator or admin please look into these Asset IDs and refund my lost credits to my account as soon as possible? I am really peeved that you do not respond to multiple email attempts.

Thank you.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience with OpenArt.ai. I spent approximately 2,400 credits trying to create a video, but I still did not receive a usable video. Even asking a simple question cost another 100 credits, and then the platform continued asking me to purchase more credits to complete the video.

The credit system feels unclear and extremely expensive, especially when failed attempts still consume credits without producing a satisfactory result. After spending so many credits, I expected either a completed video, a clear explanation, or a refund—not another request to buy more credits.

I hope OpenArt improves its transparency, stops charging users for unsuccessful generations, and provides a fair refund or credit adjustment when the promised output is not delivered.

Terrible support/response to emails

Terrible support. I am now a PRO subscriber and have paid OpenArt quite a lot of money. The actual AI interface and results are good/OK. The features are good. BUT BEWARE of their OFFERS.

A time limited offer persuaded me to upgrade to their next higher tier to access unlimited use for a few days on an engine.

Once they took the money, my plan changed but the unlimited offer failed to ever be available.

I should have had the unlimited use for around 4 days, but even after 4 support emails sent to inform them they had sold me a time limited offer then failed to make it available to me during that time, I then lost the ability, and now many days later, still have no response, even after more support emails being sent after.

I was up against a deadline so had to then BUY even more credits to complete my work.

Some bad trust pilot reviews seem to get quicker responses, so I decided to write this review in the hope of getting some attention to the issue.
