It used to be affordable and unreliable...now, just unreliable
We started using homeit's services some two years ago. Back then, it seemed like great value for money, as you would only have a one off payment, and no monthly fee. What wasn't made clear to us was that the product was still in development, and we would take an active part in helping to improve it, through beta testing... And so we did, holding on to our hopes of a service that would improve over time, and accepting our fate as assistants of a young, yet promising (?) company.
Enthusiasm is definitely a requirement, if you plan to subscribe to homeit's services: you will need plenty of it in order to bear the pure disdain with which you will be treated. The (now gone ?) "attendant" Filipa was truely one of a kind: she had the undeniable ability to argue that you were yourself the only cause of your problems, whatever the reason you called.
And there were many calls: codes not working, boxes going offline, doors opening with delay (guests would then rightfully get frustrated, and call us at all times of day and night), boxes being replaced, codes lost when boxes got replaced, new boxes (replacing the ones malfunctioning) being charged while still under warranty (not to mention shipping costs that we had to pay, against EU law for goods under warranty)....and always the same arrogance, and the same lack of interest in solving your problems, which were really just that: your own problems.
Obviously, this is not the kind of "service" you look for to support your own operations. Recently, features that were included have now become paid, with a monthly fee. If the service had improved, we would probably accept that. But it hasn't. We are now set to find a replacement solution, and would advise anyone that considers subscring: flee, you fool !
