A340 YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
First of all, i love aviation, so i was glad to be flying on my precious A340. The food service was okay at best, but i was not that hungry. The bathroom was pretty nice on the plane i was on, and the staff were really kind! Keep going edelweiss and don't you dare get rid of the A340.
Great airline!
We flew with this airline for the first time in October to Greece and they were great. Lovely complimentary snacks and drinks, friendly staff and comfortable seats. All flights were on time. 5 stars all round!
Worst Airline, Hands Down!!!
If I could rate them anything less than a one star, I would. I would like to express my displeasure because at the same time Edelweiss was canceling our flight, other airlines were taking off and landing through the process that day and for the next day as well when there were "Volcanic activities".
It was pretty evident that Edelweiss had scheduled and planned a flight without having the airline on deck. We were scheduled for a time at a gate when another plane was boarding which told us that the flight would probably be canceled.
Yes, the volcano influenced some activities, but it was pretty evident, it was a Supply and Demand issue. The delays were very costly to me and my ability to do my job, missed meetings for two days and not be compensated for my hotel charges, uber charges and cost I incurred for the two days of delay in Catania.
Based on my experience, online negative comments and research, Edelweiss is the WORST airline out there!!! Customer service and care can't get any worse. They don’t care about customers and reviews show they don’t. They count on hiding behind “volcanic activities” when they are incapable of being what they advertise. Very disappointing to say the least. I would rate them a negative one if I could!
AVOID
Absolutely aweful online service and dysfunctional website, information is false (for online check in problems it gives the phone number for baggage claim only), online check in opens 23 hrs ahead but says 24 on swiss, and when you try to check in, offers you to select seat, and then does not retain the information. Next time you try, the error on iport server. A different phone number for assistance (not advertised on website!) takes you to assistant who knows nothing, does not know why the system is not functioning. Happens 3rd time!! Useless. The check in staff in Zurich rude, young and incompetent. Learn from Baltic airline, your competitor! They were fantastic, but sadly, no longer fly this same route.
Delayed Bag located immediately, but still not delivered 6 days later
Our baggage did not arrive in Lamezia Terme on August 30 after our Edelweiss flight from Zurich.
The bag was located shortly afterward, so this is not a case of an airline still searching for missing baggage. According to the baggage tracking system, it has been assigned to a courier for delivery since September 3. Today is September 5 and we still do not have it.
For days I have been calling Edelweiss, Lamezia Airport Lost & Found, and the courier trying to find out where the bag is and when it will be delivered. The courier is unreachable and getting through to Lost & Found has been extremely difficult.
What has been most disappointing is Edelweiss's response. I have called repeatedly, explained that the contacts they provide are unreachable, and asked several times for the matter to be escalated to a supervisor. Edelweiss has refused to escalate the case and continues sending me back to the same phone numbers that I have already told them I cannot reach.
We are traveling with two young children and have now spent six days of our family vacation without our belongings. We have had to purchase essential items because of the delay.
Baggage delays can happen. What I find unacceptable is that the bag was located, assigned for delivery, and then left undelivered for days, while nobody at Edelweiss appears willing or able to take ownership of the problem.
I have now submitted a formal written complaint as well as a reimbursement claim. I will update this review when the baggage is finally delivered and based on how Edelweiss responds.
Bad customer service. Delayed and Damaged luggage
Our luggage was delayed for 3 days and returned damaged, despite being a brand-new Delsey Paris suitcase. Edelweiss also refused to deliver the delayed luggage, leaving my spouse and me without our belongings.
We had to spend about €250 on essential items and transportation to the store and another €120 on taxis to and from the airport because of the baggage issue. After all this, we received only $200 in compensation, which was completely inadequate.
Very poor baggage handling and customer service. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend Edelweiss Air.

They've stopped responding to messages 😣😔
Good But Too Much Preference For Business Class Passengers
I thought the price was really good, I appreciated that a carry on suitcase was included in the fare. The staff were nice and the plane was clean.
I did think though that being a regular customer means you are very much treated like a second class citizen compared to the business class passengers. 2 of the 4 toilets are reserved for the maybe 20 or less business class passengers and the remaining 80 or so passengers have to share 2 toilets so there was always a long queue. Boarding was also very very slow because of prioritising the business class passengers.
Terrible airline
Terrible airline. Flew the family to Greece and they managed to delay the plane by more than three hours. Of course they refuse to pay the EUR 400 per person they owe under EU regulations (accepted by Switzerland) hiding behind technicalities and the Swiss courts. They leave customers with the only option to sue them in EU/ Greek courts which is super time consuming and impractical. Also on the flight back, they broke my bag and are impossible to reach over the phone or on email, they try anything they can to avoid their obligation to reimburse the purchase of a new bag despite having followed all the procedures and having reported the damage on the same day of the flight at ZRH airport. Every time I reach them there is a new procedure or form to fill. No wonder these guys have a 2-star rating in TrustPilot. That's way too generous, they should be at 0.5-stars in my view. NEVER FLY WITH THESE CLOWNS

Wife and son both violently sick with food poisoning and this is just the start of this review...
I would give minus stars if it were possible.
Asked for special assistance, received none, been laying awake following a long flight yesterday between Zurich and Vancouver with an absolutely terrible stomach ache as a result of eating scraps of food provided in a meal that was indescribable and I would not have given it to my dog to eat. We still don't know if it was chips(potatoes) or something else provided with chicken not it for human consumption but 2 from 4 on the trip have been sick all night. Sear width terrible (length not so bad) but my wife was sat in a row with 3 strangers and the person in the middle seat through no fault of their own must have weighed 250 pounds was pushing my wife to one side, touched her behind at one point with his hands while sitting but was an accident, sat with his feet up somehow, socks off picking dead skin off his body. However, there was empty seats towards the front of our section assuming for special assistance which again we didn't get.
I've been traveling to Vancouver every year or second year for 20 years using zoom, British Airways, Virgin, Air Transat, Canadian Affair, KLM and Air Canada. The flight yesterday from Edelweiss was far and away the worst.
worst airline ever
worst airline ever. Really impolite, bad customer service, they are almost always late. They claim to be Swiss to charge very expensive prices, but are not, this is a bad Lufthansa service. DO NOT BOOK, go for easy jet, Ryan air, wizz air. much better quality for much less money
Paid for Business Class, completely abandoned after cancellation
I booked a Business Class ticket from Zurich to Las Vegas, with the return leg (WK3) operated by Edelweiss. Edelweiss canceled my return flight from Las Vegas, but never notified me via email or SMS. Even when I checked in at Zurich for the outbound flight, the staff knew my return was canceled but said nothing.
When my return date arrived, Edelweiss provided zero on-the-ground support or rebooking assistance. I had to rely on United Airlines to get me home.
Upon returning, I submitted a claim for my out-of-pocket care expenses (hotel, food, transit) and the statutory €600 compensation. Edelweiss sent standard copy-paste replies, claiming they processed the schedule change in April and therefore owed me nothing. When I asked them to provide basic technical proof (like server logs) that they actually notified me, they completely ignored me.
Customers had negative experiences with customer service, often describing it as unhelpful and unprofessional. I had to escalate this case to the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) for formal enforcement just to get them to fulfill their basic legal obligations.
If you are paying a premium price for a Business Class ticket, expect zero communication and an automated wall of rejections if things go wrong. Avoid.
The worst
Delayed flight, 4 months of ignored claims, €737 still unpaid
Flight WK87 (Cape Town → Zurich, 20 March 2026) departed over 4 hours late, causing me to miss my connection to Milan, spend an unplanned night at Zurich Airport, and forfeit a pre-paid car rental at my destination — a total out-of-pocket loss of €237 on top of €600 in statutory compensation I am legally entitled to under EC Regulation 261/2004.
Edelweiss's response over four months: they reimbursed €100.73 for the hotel and meals, denied the €600 compensation citing "extraordinary circumstances" without ever specifying what those circumstances were, ignored the forfeited car rental entirely, and at one point refused to process a transfer to a fully licensed EU bank (Revolut). Multiple emails have gone unanswered for weeks at a time.
€737.71 remains outstanding. A formal complaint has now been filed with the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (BAZL).
Don’t pay for a later flight
We specifically paid around CHF 600 extra for an afternoon flight because we were travelling with two young children. Unfortunately, our flight was moved almost 10 hours earlier to 6:25 AM, and we were not refunded the additional amount we had paid for the later flight.
We contacted both our travel agency and the airline, but neither was able or willing to offer a solution. The original afternoon flight was not even cancelled, yet we were still moved to the early morning departure. We also weren’t offered any upgrade or compensation.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend paying extra for a later flight, as there seems to be no guarantee you’ll actually get it, and don’t expect much support if your flight is changed.

How they handle food service is a disaster. I will go out of my way to avoid this airline in the future. The customer service on the phone is also categorically unhelpful—she said several times that I would be better served using the website because she didn't know what she was talking about and couldn't even access that information. I suspect she just didn't want to help any further.
