I wanted to try out Diamond Art and bought a Diamond Dotz one in the stores last summer. In my youth I made lots of paint by color pictures so I had a good grasp on what to expect.
My decision fell on a squared one, pink lotus shutterstock image "Reflections". The quality of the picture and of the diamonds are atrociously bad. The print is extremely blurry which makes reading the symbols very hard to the point, that you can't really differentiate between some of them. For example ) was used for a purple shade while a symbol similar to this ⍿ was used for another purple shade. It was nearly impossible to tell them apart.
The quality of the diamonds was just bad. Lots of chipped one, uneven ones, fused ones, some with air bubbles and basically all colors have random plastic droplets mixed into the package.
On top of that they were all sealed in plastic bags which had to be cut open. However once they were open, there was no way to reseal them. The little equipment kit was not nearly enough with 5 resealable packs for over 30 colors.
The kit in general was lacking. The pen (totally not from Ali Express and Co.) could be used for one single diamond at a time. The very clearly open end on the other side for a very clearly multiple diamonds head to be sticked in, was missing said head.
So I had to go out and buy more little resealable packages and another pen with a multiple diamonds head.
The only good thing was the wax which came in a small round resealable container. One star for that.
So since the quality was rather what I would expect from Ali Express and co, I tried and bought a kit for a fraction of that price. And behold, the print was crisp and everything was readable, the exact same pen that was included in the DD kit came with two additional add on heads for various sizes, the colors are all sorted into their own resealable bag and two trays were provided.
Price does not equal quality and that product is definitely not worth the price.
I’ve only bought diamond dotz kits in stores, but ordered one online for Black Friday, product came earlier than they said and quality seems good
