Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 128 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people encountered significant issues with product quality and manufacturing flaws, such as cars breaking down prematurely, corroding wheels, and various repeated mechanical failures. Customers frequently reported extremely poor customer service, including unhelpful staff, lack of communication, and long waits for roadside assistance or recovery. This often led to frustration with unresolved problems and a feeling of being disregarded by the company. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with individual staff members, describing them as professional, friendly, and helpful. These reviewers appreciated specific instances of good service, such as prompt assistance with punctures, efficient handovers for new cars, or attentive communication during service updates.

brand new F70 keyless entry not working

I bought a brand new F70 2 months ago. From Marshalls BMW in Salisbury.
I upgraded the tec pack so the car included keyless entry. I had to buy a new phone as my old phone was not compatible. The car is fabulous but the keyless entry was not working everytime I approached the car as it should. I went to Marshalls and they had the car back for and I had a courtesy car while they looked into it. Whe. I got the car back it did tbe same thing. I have had it back 3 times now and it's still the same. I have tried to speak to a manager and I spoke on the phone to Jamie tbe service manager who said he had worked with Bmw for 10 years and they have never failed to fix a problem!!! He then told me how great it is in almost the BMW 's that he has had!!! I just said that's what I want!!! I spoke to them today after it not working as it should again and said I will be happy with just another key as you only get supplied with one key now. They have refused to give me this and I'm certainly not paying £500 for one!!
The car is booked in again next month but I'm not expecting them to fix it and then I am going to keep going back until they get totally sick of me!!
Im so disappointed with the service that I have had from BMW Salisbury. I will never buy another car from them.

My husbands car was recalled due to the car bag. His car went in and when collected he noticed the steering wheel wasn’t lined correctly. He was asked to take it back and when collected it was the same with the same fault. A further call was made to be informed that the fault was not an error by BMW and if I wanted them to look at it again third time I would be charged. My car is my pride and joy and is well cared for and the steering wheel did not have this problem prior to going in. Disgusting after care . I will be making a formal complaint.

Abominable customer service from 'escalations' team

So bad. After dealing with and speaking to bereavement department they suggested they complain on my behalf. First email after several days from 'escalations' was on 9 June. I replied that day, on 12 June, 19 June and 14 July. Rang them today, 20 July after 20 minutes got cut off. Rang back given direct number, after 20 minutes I'm giving up. Absolutely abominable, this is the complaints team!

My car was called in for a recall which should have taken a day, it turns out they had the car for a month. I had no updates from them and couldn't get a straight answer. Customer service was nil, i even asked for the service manager to call me but he obviously thought he was to important to make the call so passed it to the service desk. As I wasn't a paying customer and I had an older car the work for my vehicle was put on the back burner. Will never use BMW again. Thought they were a good company to deal with but apparently not.

The reviews speak for themselves

The reviews speak for themselves. Absolutely appalling customer service, worse than a back street garage. 4 emails, 5 phone calls, and still no one gets back to you.

Williams Manchester.

My last email to them raising an official complaint.

——
Official Complaint: Severe Lack of Communication Regarding Appointment this Friday (Reg: k- BMW
To Customer Service Management,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the abysmal level of communication I have experienced over the last six weeks. Despite making 10 phone calls with repeated promises of a callback, I have received absolutely no response.

Key Issues
Broken Promises:

Yesterday morning, I was explicitly promised both a phone call and an email. True to form, neither arrived.

Unresolved Insurance Query:

My vehicle is booked in for service this Friday at 8:00 am. I have called four times since last Wednesday specifically to confirm if the insurance policy I purchased through BMW covers these repair costs. I still have no answer.

Systemic Failures:

Your call centre system is broken. Representatives fail to pass on messages or follow up. I strongly suggest bypassing these detached call centres and implementing a direct line to the service team.

Conclusion

For a self-proclaimed prestige brand, this level of service is appalling. I have experienced better customer care from budget manufacturers.

I expect a text or email today to confirm the status of my insurance coverage ahead of Friday's appointment. I work in the defence industry, and as I’m on shift today, I can’t answer phone calls.

———-

No phone call back after 4- days.

Absolutely the worse organisation I have ever experienced.

Zero out of five.

WARNING BMW MIS SOLD

WARNING, WARNING I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a BMW iX3 50 from Stratstone BMW Bury St Edmunds to think very carefully before doing so.

Our experience has been nothing short of frustrating from start to finish.

The main issue is that we believe this vehicle was mis-sold to us. The advertised range was around 500 miles, but in reality, the car is only achieving just over 400 miles on a full charge. Stratstone BMW carried out their own testing and confirmed that the vehicle should be displaying at least 450 miles when fully charged, yet it does not.

We were then told there was a recall relating to the vehicle, which may have been connected to the battery issue, and were asked to wait two weeks. It has now been over four weeks with no update, no communication, and no resolution. We feel we have simply been given excuses rather than answers.

BMW UK has also failed to provide any meaningful assistance, despite the dealer acknowledging there is an issue. Since then, communication from both the dealership and BMW has been extremely poor.

As if that wasn't enough, we have also experienced problems with the BMW app not connecting to the vehicle, meaning features such as the digital key cannot be used and the car cannot be started without the physical key.

The problems actually began before we even took delivery. Communication throughout the purchase process was poor, and when the car finally arrived, it had a cracked windscreen.

For a premium brand, this level of customer service and after-sales support is completely unacceptable. We purchased this vehicle expecting the quality and reliability associated with BMW, but instead have been left with a car that does not perform as represented and a manufacturer and dealership that have failed to resolve the issues.

Based on our experience, I would not recommend purchasing a BMW iX3 50 until these issues have been addressed. We have now requested a full refund because we do not believe the vehicle is fit for purpose.

Extremely disappointing from both Stratstone BMW Bury St Edmunds and BMW.

The worst and most incompetent company

A matter that has been handled so poorly and with such disregard that it now requires the direct attention of BMW’s senior leadership. My experience with BMW — both in terms of the vehicle I purchased and the customer service I have received — has been nothing short of unacceptable for a brand that positions itself as a premium manufacturer.

I purchased a brand‑new BMW with the expectation of reliability, quality, and professional support. Instead, within three to four months, the vehicle developed major faults that raised serious concerns about both safety and manufacturing standards. These included:

• Digital display failures while driving
• Engine management warnings
• Additional electrical and operational issues that should never occur on a new vehicle

These faults resulted in the car being in and out of dealerships repeatedly, to the point where I completely lost confidence in the vehicle. The ongoing issues led me to begin the vehicle rejection process, expecting BMW to handle the matter with professionalism and urgency.

What followed was a complete breakdown in communication and customer care.

For 5–6 months, I made countless phone calls, sent multiple emails, and repeatedly chased BMW for updates. Every interaction resulted in the same scripted response: “We will investigate and get back to you.” Yet BMW did not get back to me. Not once. The only progress made was the progress I forced through persistent chasing.

After half a year of silence and no resolution, my case was dismissed, and I was offered £150 compensation — a gesture I did not request and one that trivialises the scale of the issues, the time wasted, and the complete failure in service. This token amount was not only inappropriate, it was insulting.

Following this dismissal, BMW ceased all communication entirely. I have sent an email every two weeks, and I have not received a single reply. No acknowledgement, no update, no explanation. This level of disregard is not only unprofessional, it is wholly inconsistent with the standards BMW claims to uphold.

The situation I have endured reflects:

• A failure in product quality
• A failure in customer service
• A failure in communication
• A failure in accountability

It is deeply concerning that a brand of BMW’s stature would allow a customer to be treated in this manner, especially when the issues relate to a brand‑new vehicle with clear safety implications.

I am requesting:

1. A full CEO‑level review of my case
2. A formal explanation for the failures in communication and process
3. A clear and immediate plan outlining how BMW intends to rectify this situation
4. Confirmation of who will be personally responsible for overseeing the resolution

I expect a response within a reasonable timeframe, given the extensive delays and complete lack of communication I have already endured. This matter has now escalated beyond standard customer service channels due to BMW’s repeated failures to act.

Yours ,
Christopher

BMW have an awful service and attitude…

BMW have an awful service and attitude to customers.

Which is a worrying trend.

This must come down from head office, which could be fixed easily with ne management up top.

An example- booked my car in last week as BMW Swansea Sytner for an MOT and oil service.

Picked my car up. Total cost £280.

Fair value.

I use the government service for MOT reminder.

2 days after taking my car to BMW Swansea I have a warning from Government MOT reminder - overdue.

I check the paperwork received from BMW after my car was returned ( and there was no mention of the MOT) and my e-mail I sent to BMW when booking in, which clearly stated ‘oil service required and MOT required’.

I contacted BMW, hoping they would say an error their side and the MOT had been completed.

But no. An e-mail with no apology was received. Asking me to take my car back in for an MOT, additional cost and stating that they could not complete the MOT at BMW and this would be outsourced.

I responded stating as my car now past its MOT due date, could they pick up and sort. Car insurance not covering a car with no MOT.

No response from BMW.

The customer service is shocking. I deal with other car companies on behalf of my family and past cars I.e. Ford, Mercedes, Nissan and Citroen.

Never have these issues previously that I now have with owning a BMW.

Not sure if staff don’t care or whether targets make after sales service not worth it.

But something needs to change with BMW Swansea for sure.

***Williams Manchester BMW***
Disgusting dealership. Bought BMW X3 IN July 2022. Ex BMWs employee's car. We now know why they wanted to get rid of it! Only driven around the city. Very very low mileage. Catalogue of faults in the car since day one. Floor got flooded and I mean flooded!!! All BMW garages said they had not seen this extreme fault in a car before. Took is months to resolve. The car was ripped apart and reconstructed to find the fault. Cost £ 7000 to resolve. Both sensors gone now costing another £1200. Today the car broke down with every warning light flashing. Currently in garage. Absolutely avoid purchasing a BMW from this dealership in particular. We spent £ 45k on apremium car to be left with a heap of junk!!! The garage responded in an intimidating and unhelpful manner. BMW UK are unprofessional. You can not even speak to a human without them intimidating you and shutting you down.

Actually, I have Mini Cooper has a very good condition and I went to William agent to evaluate my car to buy BMW but they evaluated my car very low price which was unexpected at all since they know I am interested to have BMW to do trade up
In spite of all car check up was at same Williams, no any other agent had touch it before , so This low price evaluation made me change my mind to think to sell it outside and go to other car brands like audi or Mercedes

**An Extremely Frustrating Ownership…

**An Extremely Frustrating Ownership Experience**

Unfortunately, my experience with this car [ X1] has been nothing short of disappointing. It has been plagued by persistent faults since I purchased it, and despite multiple visits to the dealer and providing extensive evidence (including photos and videos), the issues remain unresolved.

Here are the main problems I have experienced:

1. **Charging Inconsistencies**
The estimated range after a full charge is highly inconsistent, varying anywhere between **190 miles and 270 miles**. On several occasions, I have also seen the estimated range suddenly drop by around **20 miles before even driving half a mile**, which raises serious concerns about the battery management system.

2. **Bluetooth Connectivity Issues**
Bluetooth fails to connect in approximately **3 out of every 10 attempts**. Even when it does connect successfully, it frequently disconnects during the middle of a journey, making hands-free communication and media playback unreliable.

3. **Sudden Speed Restriction**
This has happened twice while driving in traffic. The vehicle suddenly displays a **"Speed Restricted"** warning and limits the speed to approximately **10–15 mph**. The only way to resolve the issue is to stop and completely restart the car, which is both inconvenient and potentially dangerous.

4. **Reverse Mode Warning While Driving**
On multiple occasions, the vehicle has incorrectly displayed a **reverse mode** warning while I was driving forward. The message repeatedly appears and disappears without any apparent reason.

5. **Display Screen Going Blank**
The infotainment/display screen has gone completely blank several times, including while driving in central London. Losing access to essential vehicle information while driving is extremely frustrating and raises safety concerns.

6. **Unreliable Overnight Charging**
The scheduled overnight charging feature continues to be unreliable. More often than not, the car fails to charge as scheduled, and I receive an error notification through the mobile app.

7. **Poor Compatibility with Public Charging Stations**
In my hometown, I have attempted to charge the vehicle at approximately **18 different public charging stations**, and only **one** has worked successfully. The charging stations themselves are not faulty, as I have witnessed other electric vehicles charging without any issues.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed with this vehicle. I have visited the dealer on **three separate occasions**, submitted photographs and videos demonstrating each of these problems, and yet the faults remain unresolved.

At this stage, I have completely lost confidence in the vehicle. My only remaining option appears to be returning the car and choosing a different manufacturer that offers a more reliable product and better customer support.

BMW Customer Service Centre UK

BMW Customer Service Centre have been very poor in dealing with issues I raised following an airbag recall. They just concluded there is no correlation to this work and the electrical system. Worryingly they were more than happy and encouraging me to write to the CEO of BMW and Motoring Ombudsman to escalate instead of handling this matter in a reasonable and professional manner.

I have a 24 plate 1 series that made a terrible noise on the passenger side. Tried many times to contact Wolverhampton for support as needed car to be inspected! Terrible customer service never returned calls. WhatsApp message answered after 2 days. After going round in circles leaving messages with no reply managed to get through to reception and they put me in touch with service dept who said if I wanted a courtesy car I had to wait 6 weeks what a joke that was!!! But then said I would have to wait a week even thought roadside assistance came to me within 20 minutes and sent them a report. I needed my car so paid an approved garage to do the work those guys were great. Now fixed and I will be complaining to Wolverhampton because what is the warranty for!!!

Poor value for money

We have found from numerous purchases of the BMW marque in the past, that their product was a pleasure to own in every respect, but that is sadly no longer the case. They have cut costs by eliminating button controls for screen access, non leather interiors on many BMW variants, creating expensive packs that consist of many items that are unwanted with no ability to select chosen options on their own, popular options that used to be in packs are now only available as single expensive options, items that should be standard in their flagship variants are now a paid option. The M135 has a Tech + pack of 10 individual items priced at £2750, but this identical 10 item Tech + pack is available for the lesser variants of the 1 series for £1990. This is nothing short of financial mugging. I do not consider BMW value for money any longer when compared to rival manufacurers for equivalent vehicles, who also allow the customer to choose desired
options without packs full of unwanted items, and have real leather interiors.

MY DOOR FELL OFF BMW

MY DOOR FELL OFF BMW

I know this it's hard to believe, but it's true. In all my years of using top end vehicles, this has to be the worst. My car was repaired by BMW registered centre, that's fine. Months later, I opened my drivers side door, and it FELL OFF.

The whole process from there using roadside assistance was poor, constant phone calls, nothing got sorted, they were meant to give me a car, equal or above, that never happened.

The repair centre contacted me, who gave me a MG puddle Jumper car. Repaired it and said it was their fault.

As you can imagine, a 55K car, a BMW car, this should never happen. The service has been awful, time consuming, constant back and forward, battling, with a car that I have lost faith in driving, what else could fall off a wheel!!!!

Never buy a car from this lot, shocking, shoddy, poor service and product, you should be ashamed, but you just don't care!

Unacceptable customer service - NEVER BUY BMW

Bought a BMW car in 2020. The service history is kept in the car's iDrive system. In 2026 the entire service history VANISHED from the iDrive. I am not responsible for this - BMW are the custodians of that information which exists on their servers. Long story short, they could not recover it for me, and they could not confirm if there is a fix for this either. All they asked me to do is to go PHYSICALLY to each garage that I visited for them to write the history line by line again. Over the last 6 years I moved from Scotland to London and this "fix" is totally unworkable. BMW have completely ignored this fact and they are not willing to do anything else to help me. I was actually considering buying the new electric X3 but I thank my bad luck for having this happening to me right now, so that I don't do the same mistake (buy a BMW) twice.
