AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! Car broke down during our holiday and there was NO help from them at all, not answering phones, emails, finally after 12h of calling they responded!! We had to ask strangers for help and were advised to fix car ourselves and bring the broken car to them to change it ! Then we got a car that shouldnt even be allowed to be rented .. flat tires, broken wipers and car radio not working.. Everything was a disaster..We had to pay extra€ 360 for full insurance as the cheaper option would cost extra even at the smallest scratch.
And to add to it all the staff were extremely RUDE in person and on the phones. They just dont care about anything.
Avoid Green Motion Florence
Dishonest and Predatory and Fraudulent!
Booking a mid-sized automatic with GPS was a disaster. They tried giving us a manual, then "found" an automatic with no GPS, leaving us to pay for phone roaming.
They insisted that the insurance we had purchased through the broker was not good enough and we should pay for their insurance. When we refused their aggressive high-pressure insurance sales, staff turned hostile.
The car was dirty on the outside with mud on the bodywork and windscreen and there was trash inside. The screenwash reservoir was empty so we couldn't immediately clean it to improve visibility.
At drop-off, an incredibly rude agent tried to falsely charge us for a tiny pre-existing scratch and tire blemish.
PROTECT YOURSELF: Take detailed videos at pick-up, including the tires! We only escaped this scam because we had time-stamped video proof of the pre-existing damage, which the agent refused to even look at once he realised that we weren't falling for his scam.
It also helped that we decided to return the car a day early as we predicted they would try to scam us when we were under pressure to get to the airport.
They openly admitted they don't care about customer reviews. They clearly prey on travellers rushing to flights. Never again.
Terrible company, AVOID.
Terrible company, terrible people. Used the Bari outlet for a car hire via Carla.
Both managers, at pick up and drop off were rude, aggressive and arrogant. One even locked customers out of the air-condition office while it was 35c outside.
Waited an hour at Bari Airport for pick up.
Got scammed by them when collecting the car with them saying my credit card (that I’ve used for 20 years) was a debit card and thus I had to take full insurance, at triple the cost.
Avoid at all costs.

Totally crap service booked with Doyouitaly in November 2025 for holiday in August 26 arrived at Airport call number as instructed for full hour no reply no pick up bus instruction. Ended up get taxi to surprice pickup yard €18. When we got through queue of pissed off clients waiting to get car. Two hour queue argument with staff regarding insurance which I had taken out with youdoitaly which covers everything. Finally got car pile of junk AC not working and car was due service. Got an upgrade to working car dirty when picked up and needed Adblue which I had to pay to put in or car stops at 800km never never use this company again big con. Use Dryye at airport pickup and drop of at airport my brother did he was out of airport and on his way 30mins
Scammers
Scammers, I don’t recommend them, they will rip you off, they didn’t consider my insurance at all and made me buy their insurance for €722 more because an excuse of not having international driving license this is bullshit, I’ve rented before in Italy and this was never an issue. My recommendation don’t rent from them.
The biggest problem is the staff
The biggest problem is the staff, they don't have any consideration for the clients and they are very slow in dealing with the paperwork (close to 45 minutes in my case and 30 minutes for the couple ahead of me). When the car was returned, the receptionist picked on a scratch on the driver side mirror and I was charged for that an extra €94. The fact is that they had no proof that the scratch was not there when I collected the car since nothing was documented at that time (the comment of the employee was "take a video of the car, we do not mark anything on right now, I have my own video for our office". I strongly advise you to look for another rental company if you are in Cagliari Airport - you will not have a pleasant experience with Autoone.it (aka GreenMotion). They don't deserve your business - usually I am a very forgiving person :-(
AVOID Surprice and Auto One
AVOID renting cars from Surprice and Auto One. Don't be fooled by the cheap price, it'll cost you more than other rental companies. The transfer from the airport to the rental office took 45 minutes to get a driver. The rental office is a shed that is very hot, no places to sit or facilities. Many customers were waiting to pick up cars, the process takes around an hour per customer. Once its your turn, you learn why! They use tactics to make you pay full insurance even if you have your own travel insurance for rental cars, fuel security deposit and they dictate which bank card you can use. Popular cards like Revolut, AMEX and others are not accepted, forcing you into more expensive options. The staff are also rude and clearly under pressure from management to screw extra money out of customers. Because you have paid the initial rental fee upfront and tourists need to get somewhere it's not easy to away from the booking. Don't be fooled. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Every customer was having the same problems and complaining. We have never experienced anything like this in Italy or other European countries.
Worst experience ever
Worst experience ever. Never use this company. They are proper scammers. We rented a van through VIP cars, which apparently was a broker for this company.
When they showed us the van it was all damaged, scratched. Because it was almost dark outside, I couldn't take a video and photos properly. They said to not worry because everything is already in the contract.
All good. With 2 days before dropping off the car they released us the deposit 1500 euro. Brought the car back, a very rude lady from their company came out and started filming the car, and taking pictures with the damages already done from the previous driver, and started asking for proofs from our side. I mentioned that was already in the contract and she was very rude and asked us to pay 481 euro. I asked for invoice and she rushed us that we will receive everything on the email. One day later they took our deposit again 1500euro.
No one answered or replied any emails from the Auto one. Scammers.
I managed to raise a dispute with my bank in the UK and finally got my deposit back.
Horrible people.
Cleaning charge scam
This company appears to be connected to Surprice Car Rentals. Car I rented was from Surprice but had a AutoOne decal.
Car was dirty internally on pick up. Delivered back in same condition and was subsequently charged for cleaning the car. Car also had a bad front end noise.
Doggy operation. Avoid.
My credit card was charged months later…
My credit card was charged months later in excess of the deductible.
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company. I had slow puncture and I had to change the tyre when I have taken wheel off I found bold tyre with wires exposed, car was not road worthy! Also take plenty of photos as they will try to charge you for existing scratches
Scam company
Scam company, together with Addcar. Never again.
Received the car with 461 fuel autonomy.
Returned it with 456 fuel autonomy. They told me I have to pay. Also claimed the car was ‘dirty’, without giving any proof what so ever.
BAD !
We were absolutely surprised and disappointed to be charged a cleaning fee for returning the rental car. In 10 years of renting cars, this has never happened to us before — and what makes it even worse is that there was absolutely no warning or prior information about this charge. They simply deducted the amount from our deposit.
This is completely unacceptable, especially considering that the car was already dirty when we picked it up!
Honestly, we feel completely ripped off. We can now understand all the negative reviews about this company. Definitely never again. A complete rip-off — stay away!
Surprise Car Rental / AutoOne.it: Pay upfront, get nothing, then pay again
DoYouItaly & Surprise Car Rental / AutoOne.it: Pay upfront, get nothing, then pay again
This is by far one of the most bizarre experiences I have ever had with a car rental company.
Through DoYouItaly, I booked a car from Surprise Car Rental in Cagliari, also operating as AutoOne.it, for no less than 21 days. The entire amount was paid upfront, 100%. Including additional insurance. You would therefore assume that you had actually rented a car.
Apparently not.
When booking through DoYouItaly, an automatic pick-up time of 10:30 AM is entered. However, the rental office is open throughout the day. My flight landed at around 3:00 PM and I arrived at the rental desk at approximately 4:00 PM.
Well within their opening hours.
But Surprise Car Rental / AutoOne.it had a surprise for me.
“You are too late.”
And apparently that meant that my fully prepaid 21-day rental had been cancelled.
No car.
No refund.
No reasonable cancellation fee.
Just €1,000+ gone.
Why? Because I did not show up within a few hours of the automatically entered 10:30 AM pick-up time.
The fact that this time was automatically generated by the booking system, and that the rental office was still open for several hours, apparently made no difference whatsoever.
But here comes the best part.
I could simply rent the exact same car again.
If I paid again.
So, apparently, the business model works something like this:
1. Make the customer pay the full rental amount upfront.
2. Give them an automatically generated pick-up time.
3. Let them arrive within the office's opening hours, but a few hours later.
4. Declare the fully paid rental invalid.
5. Keep the money.
6. Offer the exact same car again.
7. Ask the customer to pay all over again.
What could possibly go wrong?
I have serious concerns about the legality of this arrangement. A no-show provision for an unpaid reservation is one thing. But in this case, the entire 21-day rental had already been paid for upfront. The car was ultimately not provided to me, while the rental company nevertheless kept the entire rental amount.
In my view, such a contractual provision is at the very least highly questionable under European consumer law, particularly regarding transparency and the possibility of a significant imbalance between the consumer and the business.
And then there is DoYouItaly.
They facilitated the booking and payment. I have contacted them several times to raise my complaint.
No response. Nothing.
Apparently, their responsibility ends once they have your money.
I will therefore be taking this matter to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and asking them to assess whether this practice and the relevant contractual provision are actually compatible with European and Italian consumer law.
My advice?
Only book with DoYouItaly, Surprise Car Rental or AutoOne.it if you are comfortable with the risk that a fully prepaid 21-day rental can simply disappear because you arrive a few hours later than an automatically generated pick-up time.
And make sure you bring a credit card.
Not for the deposit.
But perhaps for the second rental.
DoYouItaly, Surprise Car Rental and AutoOne.it: never again for me.
A horrible, awful scam of a company
I don't usually write reviews, but I want to urgently warn others about this scam! This is a truly horrible company and we had a rental experience we hope to never repeat. First, it was a 3-hour wait to get our car—not at the airport as described but a 10-minute drive away in a shuttle van that was not marked as belonging to SurPrice/AutoOne. Then we were given a car with threadbare tires. One front tire literally exploded on the highway two days from the end of our 5-day trip. We were extremely lucky to avoid a serious accident. It caused significant damage to the front of the car. We were shaken, but thankful to be safe. When we tried to call multiple help lines, no one picked up for hours. Some numbers didn't work at all. Others rang forever without an answer. When we finally got through, there was no concern or urgency to help. The agent told us our rental was not covered by insurance, despite our contract clearly stating that it was. We had paid extra, in fact, against our better judgment, for their “platinum” coverage. They didn’t care. They hung up. When we finally reached a second agent, they told us our insurance was expired. Again we outlined that we were indeed covered and begged for help, explaining that we were stranded on the side of the highway in 95 degree temperatures with no other options. They told us there was nothing they could do, they only helped people with insurance. We ended up waiting on the side of the highway in the blazing Sardinian sun for 3.5 hours. Finally a representative called us back (from a web form we had filled out pleading for assistance) and agreed to send a tow truck. It would be there in 10 minutes. It took over 30 minutes to arrive. When he arrived, the tow truck driver tried to force us to pay cash ($440), without giving us any kind of invoice. We told him SurPrice/AutoOne would cover it because we had paid for insurance. He reluctantly agreed, and we were driven back the 2.5 hours to the rental agency. At this point, our entire day was wasted, and we were frazzled and exhausted. When we arrived at the agency, the SurPrice/AutoOne rep told us we did indeed have to pay for the tow, even though we had bought their insurance. They would pay us back, he said. Except he quoted us $550 this time. We told him we were not paying, and certainly not without an invoice. Finally, we were forced to climb onto the back of the tow truck, unlock the trunk, and grab all our belongings from the car. Send us an invoice, we said, and we walked away. We’re now trying to get reimbursed for the two days we lost on the rental. I’m not confident we’ll ever see that money, but at least we’re safe, we avoided paying them off, and we learned a lesson: there are insurance scam companies out there posing as rental agencies. Please consider yourself warned: never rent from AutoOne, SurPrice, or any of their scam affiliates!
waiting more than an hour to pick up…
waiting more than an hour to pick up and return the car, totally worn tires in front, they invent a 400Euro "repair"for a so called graffito near the doorgrip, totally not sur if it was there before, abslutely dissatisfied, never ever again
AVOID this rental agency
1) When we checked in for the car, they tried to sell us a supplementary insurance contract, which was not necessary because we had already contracted an insurance with Ryan Air.
2) When we returned the car, it was all clear and neat, but the agent made us sign the check out doc as if there was no problem (he said that everything was OK) without enabling us to read what was written. In fact they had written it was dirty (which was NOT true) and charged 21,09 euros
3) We are lucky not to have had any other problem while both front tires were VERY used
As a conclusion, Ryan Air should NOT go on propose this rental agency at the Bari airport.
Excellent Service kind and professional…
Excellent Service kind and professional thank you and see you next year for another rental car
