It's wise to pick a technician you know…

It's wise to pick a technician you know and trust. ARS Technician Toni Nguyen is such a person. Last spring, a less experienced and less competent technician serviced my home's heat pump and broke it. Thankfully, Toni was called in to make the repair and did so expertly. Since then, he is my go-to technician at this service company and I always request him by name when service is needed. He is, by far, the most thorough maintenance and service guy I've ever encountered. Does the job right every time, cleans up perfectly, and makes excellent recommendations for improvements to my system. On top that, he's personable, and takes whatever time is necessary to ease any of my worries about how my system is functioning. I am delighted with his work. A+++!

BEWARE!!

BEWARE!!! I had this company come out for a ‘tune up’. They promptly turned off the gas to my unit and put a ‘do not use’ sticker on the furnace. Yes, the unit is older, but I have never had issues. I was shown pictures of a cracked heat exchanger, roll out on a burner and a moldy a-coil. I was told there was burning due to the roll out, soot, etc. Next a comfort expert was sent out to give me a one hour hard sale and insisting I had to have my install the next day. Very uncomfortable. Well, today I had my furnace pulled by a different company. The pictures I was shown are NOT my furnace. No soot, no burning, no cracked heat exchanger, and nothing wrong with the a-coil besides a little bit of dust. No mold, rust, or anything. And how would you get your phone in there to take a ‘picture’ without taking the whole unit apart. I am beyond upset. This company cost me thousands of dollars for something I didn’t have to fix and caused me stress I really don’t need.

Total scumbags

Total scumbags. This company came out to my mother's house and their tech showed pictures of the furnace showing mold on the a coil, a rollout on one of the burners and the above area completely covered in soot as well as a cracked heat exchanger. She was quoted 12k to replace the furnace and AC. We had went with a cheaper option, another company. Upon pulling the furnace it was apparent that the pictures shown were of an entirely different furnace and none of the issues were present. The HVAC guy from the other company agreed. This company is honestly completely shady and I can't imagine how many people, even those raving with 5 stars reviews, simply had their HVAC systems replaced for make-believe issues. I'm sure there were plenty.

Horrible company

Horrible company. Can't talk to anybody real person. Everybody send messages and nobody can resolve a simple issue about answering when a part will get there. I'm 11 days without heating having paid a third deposit for the job for a pressure valve replacement. Towson MD

MENOPAUSE, HOT DAYS, AND TERRIBLE SERVICE

Description of complaint:
Around mid August 2026, I call ARS for a tune-up in preparation for the winter. Instead, the technician told me that I "HAD" to purchase a new piece for $408. 74, but first told me I can have a major part installed for $1,800.00 and my system would run properly for a lifetime-an African (Moroccan) salesman. About 4 days later, the equipment malfunctioned again. The second technician came (another African-Congo) October 3, 2026 (after waiting a full day, when they never shown up) without proper equipment and wanted to use my electric without paying for it-it's my electric! ARS seems a little discriminatory in their practices, as stated by a receptionist; "all our trucks don't come fully quipped." So why send the un-prepared workers to our home? Especially when the technician expresses his anger because I did not allow him to use my electric. However, after several more phone calls, I requested a "Caucasian-European Persuasion-light-skinned-Brother" - Jordan P. Dean. Although he did an excellent job, he still came without a generator. According to all of what ARS state they they offer in their advertisement turns out to be falsehoods, such as: they are NOT trustworthy, there were NO fast reliable service, they did NOT keep to our satisfaction being guaranteed, deceptive "tune up" and other false advertisement, their contractors do not seem to be competent, there were NO exceptional service for us, and the discriminatory practices . . . i do believe i wated about two days waiting for their arrival

Money paid to business:
408.74

Desired settlement:
Refund; Explanation of charges; Probably some of the hottest days this summer, my wife suffered with menopause, they used our electric without paying for it and the level of stress was unnecessary.

Postpone, postpone, no show

I signed up for a check of my furnace and HVAC and schedule them for the following Monday. After three days of texts reaffirming the appointment, they called 2 hours into the 4 hour window to reschedule. I agreed to reschedule for Wednesday. They called that morning and I gave them a third strike for this morning between 8-12.

No call, no appearance.

How could I possibly trust them now?

ARS Roto-Rooter HVAC

ARS Roto-Rooter HVAC: One of the Worst Customer Service Experiences I've Ever Had

I rarely leave negative reviews. Of my nearly 60 reviews, perhaps one other has been negative. But after spending approximately $20,000 on a new HVAC system, I feel obligated to warn other homeowners about our experience.

Things started well. The salesman was friendly, the price was reasonable, and the installers were polite and hardworking. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended.

Due to what appeared to be poor planning by the initial inspection team, our installers worked from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. the following morning, nearly 18 hours straight. By 11:30 p.m., neighbors were complaining about the noise. I genuinely respect those gentlemen for their hard work, but they should never have been put in that position.

Despite promises to leave our property as they found it, we were left with rust-colored stains splattered across our ceiling, walls, and crown molding, along with fiberglass insulation scattered throughout our home, yard, bushes, and even the street. We're STILL finding debris.

Days later, I received my first-ever HOA complaint because the crew had abandoned an enormous box of installation garbage beside our house. Despite repeated promises to remove it, the trash sat there for nearly THREE WEEKS.

Then, unbelievably, ARS contacted me over a $68 financing shortage. After everything we'd endured, I suggested they could absorb the $68.

Eventually, a manager named James called, apologized, and offered a $100 gift card as compensation. Was $100 reasonable for this experience on a $20,000 installation? Absolutely not. But I accepted because I respected the installers and simply wanted to move on. I even agreed not to leave a negative review.

Two weeks passed. No gift card. I contacted James, who promised to look into it and follow up the next day. He never did. More weeks passed with no communication whatsoever. Eventually, I told them to keep it.

And that's what bothers me most. I wasn't demanding thousands of dollars or trying to get anyone fired. I simply expected a company charging $20,000 to respect my property, clean up its mess, and honor its promises.

Instead, we got poor planning, property left filthy, an HOA warning, weeks of abandoned garbage, and management that couldn't even follow through on a $100 apology.

The installers worked incredibly hard, but hardworking employees cannot make up for incompetent planning, nonexistent accountability, and management that repeatedly fails its customers.

EDIT: Apparently, ARS also enjoys leaving polished public responses to negative reviews to create the illusion that someone is addressing customer concerns. They provided a Quality Assurance email on Trustpilot, which I contacted with ZERO response. They also provided a phone number that goes straight to "Linda's" voicemail, where calls and messages apparently go unanswered. So, when you see their carefully crafted responses promising assistance, don't confuse public relations with actual customer service. In my experience, it's nothing more than performative damage control.

At EVERY turn, this company has failed to follow through. Easily one of the WORST experiences I've ever had with a business.

I will never use the plumbing service…

I will never use the plumbing service again. Was charged over $1500 to replace a plain jane toilet and couldn't even get a cover for the tank because they didn't have one that fit under the counter that was over the area where the toilet was. Giant RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service!
First day they were supposed to come out, the tech shows at my door says he is being forced to work in rain and he is not going to and walks back to his truck. It was sprinkling out and was not thundering or lightning. I call and reschedule for the next day. They were to come from 8-12. 12 rolls around and no tech. I call and here they forgot to put me on schedule. I gave them one last chance to show and rescheduled again and yet again they never showed. Horrible customer service. Go anywhere but here.

Very disappointed

I will start by saying I do not enjoy giving a bad review. I believe everyone deserves a chance and even a second chance to make things right. Sadly, this company continues to disappoint and fail. They are quick to provide a new system and make a lot of promises about what will happen after the sale. In my case, it has been a string of disappointing service calls, and multiple failures of our air-conditioning system. They make it almost impossible to talk to a live person and when you do, they are good at making excuses and apologies for what went wrong. Yet still they cannot seem to follow through. Meanwhile, we are stuck with an air conditioner that does not work, that is a warranty issue, and they will not even communicate with me. All I have asked for is an open line of communication so we know what to expect and honesty and integrity on the part of ARS. I hope I can soon write a review that says they figured out their problems and are finally providing the service they advertise.

Excellent service

Tom, the technology expert, came with Jennifer, the sales representative, and all of my questions were answered between the two of them
Then Branson, by himself, replaced the furnace and air conditioning systems expertly. Branson demonstrated the new thermostat, showed me the new systems, and answered all of my questions.

No empathy for a 2yr old system having a leak, then full price, with no empathy.

After they installed my full air conditioning system in 2024, they have the audacity to come by and say, "Well, it's not a perfect system, so it will cost you $4,500 to replace the inside evaporator coil due to a leak". No mention of a possible discount or any empathy for my situation. Their customer service has gone into the negative over the last few years. This technician was definitely the bottom of the barrel. I'll never do business withe them again and wouldn't recommend anyone even think about it!

The maintenance service I had in place…

The maintenance service I had in place was transferred to ARS/RESCUE when Tarpy sold their business about three years ago.
Monthly fee of $20, covered coming out to hose off the heat pump, check lines and check thermostat and supposedly replace HVAC filter (the latter only happened one time because the tecnician never had the right size filter in the truck).
In May, last technician checked side garage door lock as he passed by and when I declined the need to come into the house to check the thermostat, he just opened the door and said he would just come in and check it out.
I discontinued the service before the next maintenance date but the company has continued to bill me monthly. My last attempt to cancel, the agent contacted billing department and confirmed all my account info and I was promised, again, that the billing was canceled and I would receive an email within 48 hours confirming.
This hasn’t happened so I will have to cancel my credit card and redo all my scheduled payments etc.
Extremely poor customer service and incompetent agents, I would not ever use this company, they can’t figure out how to cancel a simple account in a timely manner don’t let them try to fix anything big.
