Awful company please no one ever get a engine from them they’ll send it incorrect, after telling the sales team 10x over the engine code the model and even being reassured it they’ll contact ford to make sure it’s 100% correct they still get it incorrect the engine was sent back in 24 hours or less and received a refund of £500 less then paid even after it being a mistake on there side absolutely disgusting

DO NOT USE THEM

If I could give 0 stars then I would. My son paid for a full rebuild of his engine costing close to £4000. 2 months later the exact same problem occurred and it was not drivable anymore. We had another garage look at it and was told that a lot of the work we were charged for had not been carried out. We have tried to resolve this with the company but they are now ignoring our messages and letter sent so are now taking it further. Absolutely awful company. Do not use them

5 * for new engine 1* customer interaction it’s a shame they let themselves down so badly

Hi Dougald

I’m sorry to read this review as I totally understand why you are frustrated .

I actually looked at your case at the time and sadly weather your garage wish to accept it the damage coursed to the engine was done by your garage as we did outline .

The issue we face is no matter what proof we show garages will always deny as they don’t wish to compensate .

I will happily help in any way I can but what we cannot do is cover costs or damage done by a garage fitting the engine incorrectly

Kind regards

hi rico

i have looked into this in full and in fact a warranty claim was submitted upon our review we found that none of our warranty terms had been followed i have copied the following from our email response of the items not checked or replaced

oil cooler and oil filter
injector test
dpf clean and test
new thermostats
new water pump
egr cooler replacement or test

the following was also offered with no reply from your self

if you wish to have the engine inspected and repaired, you may remove the engine and return it to us. Upon receipt, we will carry out a full inspection and advise you on the necessary repairs and associated costs. if at any point in the inspection we find fault on our behalf we will happily repair free of charge.

i think we offered a valid remedy for this issue with no reply or response from your self and had your garage followed the terms that we supply with the engine . email to you after purchase and that you have to accept before you make payment then i doubt you would be having any issues with the engine .

with the false accusations made we will be issuing proceedings if the review is not removed today.

Very disappointed with this company

Very disappointed with this company. We didnt want to purchase an engine off ebay and decided to use an engine company instead. How wrong was I!!!. Purchased engine and gone confirmation that we had purchased it.Then nothing!
I rang 3 times to chase it was told i would get tracking details, nothing came. Rang a 4th time and was told i would get a call back and it would be a priority, heard nothing then received an email saying the order had been cancelled!!!!.
Phoned again and was told i should have received an email. No emails were sent. Then i got an email explaining the engine had been damaged in transit. I now have a very upset customer. Engine now ordered off ebay and communication was great!!!
Communication is key people!!!!

Fantastic Service until an issue.

Fantastic Service until an issue.
We bought 3 engines in 1 go at a cost of £4593.
The first engine we fitted was fine, the second one has an internal fault. Relates to timing but the timing has been checked 3 times and is perfect. We as a garage, suspect the variable valve timing system is from an old engine and faulty. However, when Adam at Approved Engines was asked for support, he kept ignoring me and I had to keep pushing for help. Unfortunately, I am now £1500 down, no fix to this engine and had to buy another engine for £1800 plus the labour hours commited to taking the faulty one back out and fit another one. Would I use Approved Engine again? Probably not, happy to take all the money but not interested when there is a fault. Could have easily been resolved if they would talk to me.

Hi

Unfortunately disappointing

I bought a remanufactured/new 1.0 EcoBoost engine with 12 months warranty last August and had problems with the engine management light from the get go. My registered mechanic went back and forth with Approved Engines’ advice but nothing worked. After lots of phone calls and emails (a very difficult Company to get hold of) Approved Engines Ltd agreed to have my car to look at, which luckily my breakdown could take it to them. This was in Jan/Feb 2025. The guys in the garage were friendly however, after paying out £100+ travel costs to collect my car, I drove it for 3 weeks and the same issue came up again with the engine management light, the same diagnostic. Again, lots of emails and phone calls but I’ve heard nothing back since then. I drove my car very little between last August -Jan/Feb due to the issue, but I’ve not been able to drive it at all since March. As well as the stress this is causing, I am at a financial loss. I’ve had no choice but to take this further. Approved Engines, for the money I have paid I would just like a working car please..

Go elsewhere

I purchased a Ford focus ecoboost from a garage ( Approved Motor Group Ltd) owned by the same guy who owns this Company in Nov 2023. I Was told a recon engine had been fitted by this Company as he owned both the garage and Approved engines Ltd. This was confirmed by Company House. The car came with 6 months warranty however all requests for warranty documentation were ignored. Engine loses coolant and has done from day 1 and also engine light has always flagged a emissions issue from Bank 1. Also has an oil leak. All these faults were within the so called 6 months warranty period. Tried calling only to have calls ignored. Sent emails with photos but again all ignored. I even posted a letter to the premises directly for the attention of the director who signed for the letter but once again this was ignored. The engine issues I have certainly seem to reflect other reviews on here as well as the non existing customer service and warranty. Definately avoid these cowboys.

worst service from an engine company i…

worst service from an engine company i had to call them non stop, and i mean non stop hitting redial for a hour to corse them enough hassle to actually put me through to who i needed to talk to. they dragged this out over 4 days costing me £1000 total im a hire van for my customer when it could have resolved in 2 min phone call. as they caused unnecessary costs im now having to issue a court summons in order to cover my costs. as a experienced owner of 2 garages id advise to not use this company for replacement engines.......

we purchased an engine for a ford transit in november 2024 and have had issues since delivery, on delivery we found the engine was different, the hole in the block was missing for the oil pump solenoid. they advised this was normal and that to fit away. i had a call with them as id already confirmed with ford this was the incorrect engine, they assured me its correct and they fit these without the sensor all the time. i advised there is no way this could work but again they assured me it would, following there advice we fitted it and as i said would happen we had a fault for open circuit on the pump solenoid and a engine warning light, so we did not have to remove the engine again i has to then rewire and by bypass this solenoid which i was not happy about but was left with little option. 2 weeks later the van returned for post engine replacement checks and we found the coolant level had dropped around 100ml, we topped up and checked for leaks and non were found so we put this down to possible air in system escaping and advised the customer to keep and eye on the level and advise us if the level drops again, the van was returned to us in january as the customer had to top up the level 2 more times, we inspected once again and found no external leaks but there was soot in the coolant system, a hydrocarbon test confirmed there was exhaust emission getting into coolant system. we put this down to a faulty egr cooler as we believed there is no way the head gasket could be leaking on a newly reconditioned engine. we fitted a new cooler and seent the customer away and once again advised to monitor, now at this point in hindsight we should have carried out the hydrocarbon test again but having confidence that a new engine would not be faulty we didn't. the van came back i march and we found yet again there is carbons in the coolant system, the customer explained there still losing coolant at the same rate as before but they were too pissed off to come back again, after a lot of checks done our end it clear the head gasket is leaking, to prove this we have had to pressurize the system and remove injectors to inspect with a scope, coolant is leaking into cylinder 1, although the leak is very small this should not be a happening and has clearly been an issue since day one. this van has now cost me a fortune due to the issued cause by approved engines.

after leaving this review which is a honest description of my experience with this company i have now received this from them threating to take me to court.

hi steven

i contacted you via email with in a very fast period and even attempted to start a warranty claim process .

you repeatedly called and abused staff members on the telephone and when i did call it was near on pointless as there was clearly no conversation to be had .

we are more than willing to help our customers if they are willing to communicate which you wasn't only by the means you chose .this matter was clearly very simple an email more than fairly would have rectified.

if you do not remove your review we will take this further the engine has been fitted for over 6 months you accepted the engine at the time and continued to fit the engine .

and clearly the egr cooler has been replaced which could of been the issue in the first place we have had no contact since fitment at all .

please remove the review or we will hand this to our solicitor monday morning as its totally unfounded and untrue .

regards

Adam culwick

hi steven

as per my email, this engine is over six months old and has been in the vehicle running for most of that time ,in those six months we have not been contacted once with regards to an issue relating to the coolant loss .

what you have confirmed is that you changed the egr cooler but it didn't help with the issues . thats very common once the damage has already been coursed .. and the egr cooler should have been checked at the time of fitment and or replaced .

today for staff has been totally unacceptable we have had a vast day of calls over 150 and i have contacted you twice via email which this situation would have been dealt with but you decided that wasn't good enough .

and whilst shouting at staff and being rude to them you informed them that you would repeatedly call until you got your own way .

i would expect more from someone who owns two garages i expect your very busy and cannot be expected to be available at all times. you had every opportunity to solve this issue via email had you not spent repeated time being rude to our girls in the office on the telephone .

This review needs to be removed other wise we will take legal action asap on this matter we work very hard to get good reviews and like your current manner today , it was to get your own way you cannot expect to leave such a poor review and expect the same .

in any event we always try to work with our customers this hasn't been able to happen at all today because we have not been given chance to have a reasonable conversation .

please remove the review asap or you will here from our solicitor . our staff are not employed to be spoken to so poorly

Found these guys online and decided to drive the 100 miles from my home in East Sussex up to Sudbury to have the wetbelt changed on my 1.0 ecoboost. Adam and team were very helpful and responded to my online queries promptly. Job completed in 24 hours - kept me informed of the progress of the job throughout the day. Considerably cheaper than ANY garage quoting near my home. Would highly recommend and will be visiting them again in 4-5 years to get wetbelt done again!
