The site will lag and the organization is awkward to navigate but I appreciate that is part of the instructors responsibility. Support is excellent.

Feels like half baked AI slop

Feels like half baked AI slop
I was asked to moderate and help with an artist community and after 6 months the recommendation is clear - do not renew. A user cannot self service delete their account, only deactivate it which sends it to avoid where neither the user or admins can see it. If my user has a moderator role why does the artist need to assign me a moderator role to hide me in a live session? That should be opt-out, not opt-in. Users with cupon codes for paywalls loose the value if they change paywalls outside of billing cycles. Users retain access for seemingly arbitraty lengths when paywalls are past due. The lowest business tier is just a gateway drug where you constantly are met with "this feature is available on the enterprise tier" and thats just not financially viable for a smaller community. AI agent for support is absolutely useless and members are outraged seeing circle working on AI features in the community rather than making the user experience better. Users don't want a community where they are served AI slop by an artist who doesnt care.

Circle: Great product with true customer service

Recently, I had to interact with two online subscription providers for annual software renewal. Circle stood heads and shoulders above the other. First, it provided a way to set up an online bank payment in addition to the debit card payment that did not work because the payment exceeded daily security limits. Second, it had a clear way for me to respond to the email alerting me of unsuccessful payment. Third, it gave a clear and complete response to my email response. The other company? AI agent; chat that states that my request to pay them was not included in our support agreement; and a delayed response to emails that was partial and unhelpful.

This is a specific customer service comparison. I would add that the Circle AI supprot for users is great, and the look and feel quite good for the community tool.

Thanks Circle!

The customer service was exceptional…

The customer service was exceptional although if it were easier to delete accounts
or communities then I wouldn’t have needed customer support. I don’t think admins should have the option to allow/not allow members to leave communities. A member should always have the opportunity leave if they wish.

Overall my experience of circle is very good, the problems I’ve had are down to the community admins lack of knowledge.

Best Customer Support

Excellent support team! Every time I've needed help, the Circle support team has been incredibly responsive, friendly, and quick to resolve any issues. Easily one of the best customer support experiences I've had. Highly recommend!

Loved Circle in the early days - but no longer

Loved Circle in the early days. We were an early adopter. Since then, it's become more commercial, more complicated and shiny new things are prioritised over basic functionality. For example, even though we're on the business plan ($199/month), we can't bulk delete members from a space group without upgrading to the Plus plan ($649/month). So each year we're going to have to go through and manually delete hundreds of members. It's basic functionality that you would expect a newly developed app in its beta phase to have. It's a shame - I've asked support to help us out but they say they can't, and there's no complaints email address, so the only recourse I have is this negative review which I'd be happy to revise if they can fix the issue.

Tried Circle years ago

Tried Circle years ago, then again recently. It's near perfect now. What isn't perfect—far from it—is allowing me to pay >$200 to upgrade to a business plan, but not telling me that I can't invite more than 5 members a day for the first 3 days. Because I told a class full of people that I'm going to invite them into the new community I've built on Circle, only to have to then later, after realising the bulk tool isn't working, find your docs that describe this rate limit—but only in terms of the bulk tool—so I then invest another hour manually entering everyone one by one, and of course, that route still doesn't work. Great work on the product, but this is such a mind-bendingly asinine oversight. Support? 48 hour wait (via email). Yours truly, the latest (maybe tiredest) and certainly most frustrated member of Circle. Please fix this.

Reply from Circle

Hi Charles,

Thank you for sharing this so candidly. I’m really sorry for the experience you had here, especially at such an important moment for your class launch. It’s completely understandable that this felt frustrating — you had already upgraded, prepared your community, communicated with your members, and then ran into a limit that was not clear enough upfront.

We’re glad to hear that Circle feels close to what you were hoping for as a product, but this part of the experience clearly fell short. Your use case was a reasonable one, and we understand how confusing it must have been to see the limit described in one context, only to realize it also affected the manual invite path. That is not the kind of surprise we want community owners to run into when they are trying to launch.

Our team has followed up with you directly and adjusted the limit for your community. We’re also taking this feedback back to the team so we can improve how these temporary invite limits are communicated in the product experience and supporting documentation.

Thank you again for giving Circle another try and for taking the time to explain exactly where the experience broke down. We’re sorry for the added stress this caused, and we appreciate the opportunity to make it right.

We migrated our fan community to Circle. Then we migrated back.

The interface looked like a genuine upgrade. A few months in, we'd reversed the entire migration and moved everyone back to our original setup. The data loss was the turning point. Hours of custom page work my co-mod had built disappeared without warning, without a backup option, and without any recovery path through support. That kind of loss is unacceptable for a platform communities are expected to trust their content to. The member opt-out issue compounded it — users had no way to leave sub-groups independently and had to message an admin for manual removal. We watched that erode member trust in real time. Support, when we eventually reached someone on a frozen leaderboard issue, asked us to restart the ticket from scratch after weeks of waiting.

Can't leave without contacting admin

For some reason, Circle has given community admins the ability to prevent members from leaving.

You have to message the admin and ask them to remove you from the community. If they choose not to, or they're unresponsive, you're just stuck in the community.

Hi Seth, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating it can feel to want to leave a community and not have a clear self-service option available.

In some communities, account removal may be managed by the community admin, however we understand how this can feel limiting when you’re trying to take action on your own or  admin is unresponsive. In cases like this, Circle Support, support@circle.so, can help look into what options may be available. Feedback like yours is valuable because it helps us evaluate how these controls impact the member experience across communities.

We appreciate you raising this and will make sure it’s shared with our product team for consideration.

Absolutely awful app and terrible customer service

Absolutely awful app. Keeps crashing and for 4 months, my leader board froze and it took them 4 months to look into it, after which they had no idea of the complaint I made and I had to start all over again. Save your users time and patience and don't sell your course or community through them. They're absolutely shocking!

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience. We completely understand your frustration, having a frozen leaderboard for 4 months and then finding out your complaint wasn’t properly tracked, is genuinely unacceptable.

This is not the standard of support we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologize for falling short. Losing track of an open complaint is something we take seriously and want to make right.

We’d really like the chance to look into this properly. Please reach out to us directly at support@circle.so and reference this review so our team can prioritize your case, review your previous tickets, and make sure it doesn’t fall through the cracks again.

We’re sincerely sorry again for the experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention!

Maturity no barrier.…

Despite being a mature adult and not always that able to find my way easily around online platforms, that wasn't the case this time. I quickly worked out how to get what I needed out of the set up and really enjoyed the 7 week course.
