Do not use this company we were ripped off, we had pre-booked a car online through the Ryan Air website, when we arrived at Gdansk airport we were caught up with the Polish authorities trying to get through passport control, we knew we had 1 hour to collect the car so called customer service, the agent said don’t worry just go to the kiosk when you are through, we eventually got to the kiosk and were told by the agent our booking had been cancelled, it was all the agent could do to stop smiling, our only option was to rebook there & then, we were charged 3 times as much as the original booking and guess what, it was a Renault Clio that we booked originally, we also asked not to be charged all the insurances that load the cost, at this point the agent suddenly didn’t speak good English & hey presto when we finally had the invoice translated on our return we had paid for everything, we have sought compensation with this shower of a company and again they don’t want to know, they are disgraceful and spoiled our first trip to Poland, avoid at all costs, wish we’d booked a taxi, dreadful uncaring customer service who clearly tell lies !
From the moment I arrived to the CarFree desk the people there were very helpful and provided me great service !!!
Renting the car from CarFree was a delight !!

I would not rent from CarFree again.
I have rented cars many times from different companies across Europe, and this is the first time I have ever been told that a credit card must display my full first name instead of an initial. This requirement was not clearly disclosed during the booking process and was only raised at the rental desk after midnight.
I was then told I had to pay an extra 480 PLN for additional insurance or I would not get the car. I had no realistic alternative at that time.
In my opinion, this unusual requirement appears to create unnecessary obstacles that result in customers paying for expensive additional insurance. I have never experienced anything similar with any other car rental company.
I cannot recommend CarFree based on this experience.
Good car and easy to hire. Nevertheless, I tried to contact them on Sunday but I didn't get an answer.

Everything went smoothly, with no issues, fines, or delays. The staff were polite and efficient. I had my own insurance, and there were no unexpected charges. The car was almost brand new, with only a few thousand kilometers on it. Everything was excellent!

Warning: Be very careful with their fuel policy! I felt completely ripped off.
The car was in good condition, but unfortunately my experience with the rental process was disappointing. I made an honest mistake regarding the fuel level. On the morning of the return, I even added fuel before bringing the car back, but I relied on the remaining driving range displayed on the dashboard instead of checking the fuel gauge.
When I picked up the car, the dashboard showed a remaining range of 187 km. After adding fuel on the morning of the return, it showed 199 km. I was therefore convinced that I had returned the car with enough fuel. In reality, according to the fuel gauge, only about 3 to 4 liters were missing. Despite this, I was charged 170 PLN and was simply told that I had signed the terms and conditions, so I had to pay. I even asked whether I had really had any choice but to sign those terms if I wanted to rent the car.
If I had known that only a few liters were missing, I would have gladly added them immediately, or even more. What disappointed me was not having to pay for the missing fuel, but not being given the opportunity to top it up before being charged a penalty.
I even suggested that a “full-to-full” fuel policy would be much simpler, more transparent, and fairer for customers. It would avoid situations like this and prevent misunderstandings.
I paid the 170 PLN without arguing, but I believe this fuel policy and the associated penalty are excessive and not customer-friendly. This experience left me feeling that the process was unfair. I hope the company will make its fuel policy clearer, more transparent, and fairer for future customers.
POLAND! ABSOLUTE SCAM!Avoid Free Car at the Poland airport at all costs! They are running a textbook tourist trap scam. Here is exactly why this company should be avoided:Unjustified Charges: They apply undocumented fees and withdraw funds from your card without valid explanation or consent.Unprofessional Conduct: The staff is confrontational, dismissive, and shows a complete lack of respect for customers.Exploitative Practices: They target vulnerable travelers at the airport with predatory terms and zero transparency.Protect your finances and your peace of mind by choosing a reputable provider instead. You have been warned.

I had a very good experience with Car Free Rent a Car. I received a Toyota Yaris Hybrid for a short trip in eastern Poland, and the car was clean, comfortable, economical, and perfect for my needs.
The service was excellent: the team was very friendly, showed me the car, explained everything clearly, and even helped me set up Apple CarPlay quickly. The value for money is perfect, with very competitive prices compared to other providers.
I had purchased additional insurance through Booking.com, but in hindsight it would probably have been easier to buy it directly from Car Free Rent a Car, especially in case of any possible damage, as the process would likely be simpler.
One thing that was new for me was that the car needs to be cleaned before returning it, so this is good to know in advance.
Overall, I can highly recommend this company: friendly young people, a good car, very competitive prices, and a reliable local provider. Thank you very much!

This was my first time renting a car while traveling abroad, and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. I booked my rental only a week in advance, and because of that, this company had several restrictions and additional requirements that ended up costing me a lot more money than I expected. As someone who was new to renting a car internationally, I found the process confusing and not very customer-friendly. Because of this experience, I won't be using this company again, and I wouldn't recommend it to others.

I've rented cars from CarFree multiple times. It's always been great service, cars are new and clean. Once I got a class upgrade for free, which is nice. Recommend

Never rent from this company! Worst experience ever. Low prices, a huge deposit, and they keep your deposit after you return the rental. Avoid!

I prefer to give 0* sadly cannot.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Rented a car in January for our 2 weeks trip in June. Upon arrival, the Carfree refused to give us the car. Reason, my husbands credit card had not full name printed on the credit card. Who does?
They said they can give us the car if we buy insurance with them. So they could accept the card regardless.
We had UK insurance so did not need it. We could show bank statement showing prove of address, full name but it was refused.
Also we wanted to go to Czech Republic for 1 day, cost of that was given 2300zl.
Sadly, we had to go to different car rentals on the airport and they (CarNet) charged us 149zl to go to Czech Republic.
When they heard what CarFree wanted to charge us, we both LAUGHED.
DO NOT USE CARFREE!!
RECOMMEND instead CAR NET.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, especially if you travel from the UK with children! I booked a car via Ryanair and fully pre-paid for the rental and insurance. Upon arrival at the airport, after a long flight, the staff at the desk refused to release the vehicle unless I paid an extra 839.99 PLN for their internal insurance. The reason? They claimed they could not process the security deposit because my UK credit card displays my initials and last name (e.g., J. Smith) instead of my full first name. However, this was clearly a scam to force an upsell, because they had absolutely no technical or legal issues using that EXACT SAME credit card displayed my first initials to charge me the 839.99 PLN fee and a debit card (with my initials only) for 1 PLN deposit. If the card was invalid for a deposit, it should be invalid for a payment. They held my family hostage at the airport with tired kids, knowing I had no choice but to pay. Their customer service completely rejected my complaint, hiding behind anti-consumer clauses. This is an absolute scam and predatory practice. I have escalated this to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and initiated a chargeback with my UK bank. Avoid Car Free at all costs, use reputable international companies instead!
