Flight was heavily overbooked and I was not able to board my flight from CDMX to Bogota. Without any apologies the only explanation given by Aeromexico staff was that it was normal and legal. I thought that I had been unlucky but after spending 7 hours waiting to board the next flight I realised that overbooking was not only common but actually Aeromexico’s policy. I heard through the airport loudspeakers Aeromexico staff asked in flight after flight for volunteers to accept another flight as flights were overbooked. The compensation offered is in the form of Aeromexico vouchers so worthless to anyone who does not live in Mexico.
