HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH POSHMARK
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH POSHMARK — LESS THAN 24 HOURS
I signed up for Poshmark and didn’t even make it 24 hours before deciding to cancel my account because of the experience I had with their customer service.
The ironic part is that within 10 minutes of posting my items, they SOLD. So clearly, selling wasn’t the problem. I was actually excited about using the platform until I needed help.
Poshmark’s system would not accept my Chase debit card. Initially, I was told the issue was with Chase. So I did what any reasonable customer would do — I called Chase myself. Chase confirmed there was nothing wrong with my card or my account.
When I went back to Poshmark, suddenly I was told their system simply doesn’t support Chase.
Okay… so which is it?
First, it’s Chase. Then it’s Poshmark’s system.
When I questioned the conflicting information, this is how their customer service representative responded:
“I’ve already told you 5 times that our system does not support Chase bank, what don’t you understand?”
And then, after I expressed my frustration, the representative actually responded:
“CAN WE BLOCK YOU AND YOUR CARD?”
Let that sink in.
A CUSTOMER is asking questions about why their legitimate bank card isn’t being accepted, and instead of professionally explaining the issue or trying to resolve it, the response is essentially “Can we block you?”
That’s not customer service.
I was also told that I needed $300 available on my debit card in order to accept a sale. Why would a seller need $300 sitting on their debit card just to accept an order for an item that someone purchased?
And here’s another thing I found extremely concerning: the system would accept a prepaid card, yet my legitimate Chase debit card was not supported.
That makes absolutely no sense to me.
The problem wasn’t that I couldn’t sell. My items sold almost immediately. The problem was the confusing payment process, inconsistent explanations, and the extremely disrespectful way I was treated when I asked for help.
And before anyone tries to make this about my response in the screenshot — yes, I was frustrated and I responded out of frustration. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But customers should not have to deal with a representative talking to them like this in the first place.
I have dealt with plenty of companies when I’ve had questions or problems, and there is a professional way to handle frustrated customers. “What don’t you understand?” and “Can we block you and your card?” are not it.
I had been on the platform for less than 24 hours, had already sold items, and was willing to continue using the platform — until the customer service experience made me decide it wasn’t worth it.
A company can have a great selling platform, but if this is how you treat new customers when they need assistance, I’ll gladly take my business somewhere else.
My items sold in 10 minutes. Your customer service lost me in less than 24 hours.
That says everything.
