My rating was perfect. I was working normally. My account was suddenly banned without notice the day before my payment, and they never paid the almost $1000. I filed a complaint with my country's authorities and am now awaiting their decision; if they do not receive a response from the outlier, I will send them a court notice. I'm not leaving them.

I was contributing for 6 months, then I was flagged by the system for using autotyping or copy-pasting, and my account was banned. Outlier suggests you can appeal this decision. However, it doesn’t matter what you write in your appeal, you will get the same automated response as you can get from their chatbot. They treat their AI trainers, aka “contributors”, as fraudsters by default and do not really make any effort to investigate anything. So, if you are flagged, you are flagged, and I didn’t see it coming, as I was working fairly. Sometimes these restrictions are completely absurd, as even if you mistake the field and copy-paste the text into the correct one, you may be banned. So Outlier is completely unreliable.

I strongly advise people to stay away from Outlier.

My account was permanently banned without a clear explanation, despite the time and effort I invested in completing tasks on the platform. Even worse, I still have approximately $28 in earnings that I have not received.

The support experience has been extremely frustrating. I contacted support multiple times and received generic responses that did not address my concerns or explain why my account was banned. A professional company should provide transparency, fair reviews, and timely payments for completed work.

Being banned without a proper explanation while having unpaid earnings left me feeling that contributors are not treated fairly. Until this issue is resolved and my earnings are paid, I cannot recommend Outlier to anyone looking for reliable online work.

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience on this platform. After working honestly and in good faith as a remote contractor on the "Multimango" project queue for around ten days, my account was suddenly placed under review and deactivated by a support representative, citing a generic and completely unjustified violation of Community Guidelines.

The automated flag system is deeply flawed. It completely misidentified legitimate behavior as a violation, ignoring the evidence I sent (clear screenshots of technical errors and bugs on their own website that disrupted my sessions)

Worse look, the company has explicitly refused to process my pending earnings for the hours of work already completed and submitted. They are withholding approximately $90.00 of my hard-earned money, completely blocking my access to the user dashboard so I cannot even download the final breakdown of my active labor. This is an unacceptable breach of trust and a direct withholding of funds for completed labor.

I have already filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and I demand the immediate release and payout of all my frozen earnings. Avoid this platform if you value your time and honest work. Before I applied I was reading these reviews and I made the mistake of trying despite all the negative ones, they only answer to try and save face but they do NOT give your money back, it's a scam.
UPDATE: I have already contacted your support team at that email address TWICE, and all I received were two identical robotic replies in which you state you won't give me the money you owe me.

I am writing this to warn other freelancers. I worked diligently on Outlier and accumulated $117 in pending earnings for tasks that were successfully completed and approved. Suddenly, my account was placed "Under Review."

Ironically, I received an email from their support team confirming my account was in "good standing." Yet, just days later, I received an automated message stating my account was permanently deactivated for vaguely violating "Community Guidelines" with absolutely zero evidence or specific explanation provided.

The worst part? They explicitly stated they will not process my pending earnings. This is blatant wage theft. They use automated systems and vague guidelines as a loophole to avoid paying contributors for work that Outlier has already accepted and benefited from. Unethical practices and terrible support. Avoid working here unless you are willing to work for free.

Update after Outlier's reply:
The business replied with a generic, automated message claiming I violated the Terms of Use, which is completely false. As I mentioned, their own support confirmed my account was in good standing via a phone call and email just before the ban.

Ironically, they are telling me to discuss this "through my Outlier account"—the very same account they unjustly banned and locked me out of! How can I contact support through an account I cannot log into?

Stop hiding behind automated responses, provide actual evidence, and release my pending ~$117 for the approved tasks I successfully completed on the Ather project.

The same auditor does not do their job correctly and the only auditor who gave me a low score. The auditor accused model of giving unverified information, but only with a simple google search of that information can be seen there is a news about it from the government.

Not only that, the same auditor accused me of not trying my best and making conversation too short, even though I have completed all the task required and it exceed the minimum minutes that is required for me to talk to the model.

In another incident, the auditor accused me of not doing my job even though it is the site that is bugged and my beginning audio from my end didn't appear on the site, yet the model responded and completed the task that I given. It does not make sense, if I didn't feed any information to the model, then how can the model respond and complete the task correctly

I don't have problem with other auditors, other auditors on average give me 4.0 score before this particular auditor showed up.

This tanked my QA Score from 4 to 2.88 just because of this single auditor. Avoid this company at all cost, this shitty ass company doesn't give a shit.

After complaining to outlier support, my account is suspended without any reason. When I asked why I was terminated or suspended, outlier simply said I broke the term and condition. After the suspension, I ask for the specific on why I was suspended, however outlier support is unable to give me the detail on why because they don't have any proof on what rule that I broke. This is a scummy company, just stay away from this company as far as possible

Am I being scammed?

I literally just registered less than a week ago, and my account was deactivated right after I filled out all of my personal information. What???

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about their accounts being shut down while they were already working on tasks without any formal notice, but in my case, I didn’t even start working on anything. I was planning to take the Aether assessment this weekend and start working on tasks, but when I finally logged into my account after multiple attempts (their website sucks btw), I saw a “Failed” status on the project page. And I just asked the chatbot about the issue, but it failed to respond. I asked again, and after about 5 minutes of “thinking” time, it finally generated a response saying that my account had been banned due to a violation of the community guidelines.
Literally, what?
I did not even started anything, ANYTHING except filling out my information.

Can anyone tell me what exactly happened???

Edition: they’re claiming that I was “cheating (copying and pasting).” But I did not even work on a task. Can you even understand what I’m saying? I did not work on anything, I haven’t even start earning and my account was banned already. Do you guys even know what you’re doing…

Absolutely disappointing. I spent a long time learning the guidelines and making sure my assessment answers were correct (for Aether). I was happy with my responses and felt I had learnt something. Then "ineligible" and account blocked. I asked why and a chatbot told me I had used AI and cheated. I absolutely hadn't. Account deleted. Avoid.

The pay rate is excellent, not a top in the market, but appreciable. However, sometimes the platform lacks project for days at a time, that is quite frustrating.

Outlier.ai is a great platform to earn extra income during my free time while working flexibly. It has been financially helpful by providing a reliable source of additional earnings. The tasks also help me learn about the latest developments and trends in AI, keeping me up to date with the industry. Overall, it is a rewarding opportunity for both earning money and expanding my knowledge of artificial intelligence.

I joined the Aether project on Outlier and completed multiple tasks. After I reported a technical glitch with video submissions on the Multimango site, instead of looking into it, I was suddenly removed from the project and marked as 'Unapproved Annotator' without any explanation. I still haven't received the $75 I earned, and they also completely removed the remaining $75 after when I provided my details to their supported team from my dashboard which was previously showing. This is a biggest scam company.

Very bad experience. You can not count on them giving you decent reliable work. There is no help if the stop giving you projects for no reason. I got a project and work on it then when the changed the site somehow my skills like my native language got disabled for no reason. There no one who can and will help or dive into whats wrong. And nothing can be restored. It looks like they rely completely on their AI chatbot for helping and fixing issues. After months nothing have been solved.

Tentato due volte l'onboarding per il progetto "Aether". Mi ero registrato come utente italiano e in italiano ho acquisito la mia prima skill. Mi hanno proposto solo prove d'ingresso in inglese C1 (in cui in realtà so destreggiarmi) e entrambi le volte l'ho fallito dopo aver studiato ore le loro linee guida. I test d'ingresso, oltre a non essere tarati sulle skill selezionate, sono estremamente complessi e non rispettano le reali conoscenze dell'individuo. Non iscrivetevi, non fatevi sfruttare e non perdete tempo.

Outlier put me on a project and I was actively working on it for less than a week. I was earning good money and finally felt like I had found a decent source of income.

Then they introduced a new quality assessment for the project. Despite already passing the original onboarding assessment and already completing work on the project, I was required to take another qualification test. I spent over 2.5 hours carefully reviewing every question and providing detailed answers.

The moment I finished, I received an instant failure message saying I did not meet the quality threshold and should find a project better suited to my skills. No detailed feedback was provided, and I lost access to the project immediately.

What makes this especially frustrating is that contributors are already monitored and reviewed while working. If my work quality was genuinely poor, that should have been reflected in my task reviews. Instead, I was removed based on an automated assessment despite putting significant time and effort into completing it.

I'm extremely disappointed with how this was handled. After investing hours into the assessment and working a lot on the project, being removed instantly without meaningful feedback feels unfair and disrespectful to contributors' time.

I started using outlier in December of last year, for the first 2 weeks it was great, decent money, flexible, and plenty of work to do but there was a bug right at the beginning that I reported to the ai help tool and said that it would pass it on the team. The problem with the bug was that it didn't seem to always register my hours, so I went on for a couple of weeks until they removed me of the platform because of it, I tried telling them that I reported the bug straight away and that the ai said to continue my work as usual and I struggle to understand how it was my fault, this didn't seem to matter much though, because they just didn't really take it into consideration and still left my account banned.

So it's great at the beginning but don't expect to be on for too long as they may remove you from the platform for a simple bug that isn't even your fault. Your experience may be different though.
