I am writing this review to publicly expose the shocking lack of ethics and unprofessionalism displayed by McAfee customer support, specifically Agent Alvaro, on September 5, 2026.

McAfee automatically charged an annual renewal to my credit card yesterday without prior clear notice. When I tried to log in to manage my subscription, McAfee's system blocked my access, stating that my password had expired and demanding a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to an old email address (ekdns21cnate.com) that had already been permanently deleted.

I contacted live chat support to resolve this issue and request a full refund under McAfee's official 60-day money-back guarantee policy. Here is what Agent Alvaro did:

1. Circular Demands: Despite being repeatedly told that the registered email was permanently inaccessible, Alvaro refused to offer any alternative verification and kept insisting on details only accessible from inside the locked account (order number, exact product name, expiration date).
2. Victim-Blaming: When I explained that I could not retrieve those numbers without logging in, Alvaro condescendingly blamed me, asking: "If you knew your email was connected to McAfee, why did you delete your email account?"
3. Refusal of Payment Verification: I offered standard billing verification data—including my card approval code, cardholder name, exact timestamp, and card digits—which any legitimate billing department uses. Alvaro completely dismissed it.
4. Falsifying Ticket Resolution: To avoid escalating the case or impacting internal metrics, Alvaro unilaterally terminated the chat at 2:58 PM with the statement: "Since you don't have any more queries, I will record the details and close the conversation considering the issue successfully resolved."

Nothing was resolved. My account remains locked, the unauthorized charge has not been refunded, and the representative simply hung up on a paying customer.

I have retained the full transcript of this entire conversation as concrete evidence and can provide it immediately upon request. I am initiating a formal chargeback dispute through my card issuer (NH Card) and filing a complaint with consumer protection agencies.

Veldig frustrerende opplevelse med mc afee ; oppdaget at det ble foretatt automattrekk på bankkontoen min til tross for at det vat ca 7 mndr igjen på abonnemanget . I cancelled my subscription to McAfee more than a year ago. They recently in July 2026 auto renewed my subscription and withdrew $94.94 from my checking account. I had this account listed with an old email address which no longer exists. Called customer service 3 times and no one there could help me. It seems like they want to discourage you from canceling. This company is useless. I had to eat the $94.94. My bank issued me a NEW card so McAfee cannot auto renew anymore in the future. They are a worthless company. The three agents I spoke with barely spoke English. I see a lot of negative reviews with the same issue.

Acquisto un codice prepagato in bundle con Office per eseguire il rinnovo. da qui inizia un incubo, poichè per effettuare la riscossione del codice mi obbligano a impostare un metodo di pagamento per il rinnovo automatico in futuro, cosa che assolutamente non voglio fare. Cerco di procedere comunque pur di riscattare il mio codice ormai già acquistato e mi viene fuori messaggio di errore con conseguente blocco della procedura (tentati più browser, tentati più metodi di pagamento).
contatto assistenza via chat, e ci vogliono 40 minuti perchè l'operatore non risolva, ma anche solo capisca il mio problema.
una volta capito il problema, riesco finalmente a completare la procedura ma attenzione:
finisco per dovere disinstallare e reinstallare la app.a quel punto i due prodotti (vecchio abbonamento e nuovo abbonamento) non si parlano quindi non risulta il rinnovo ma semplicemente un secondo abbonamento.
su entrambi mi viene impostato il rinnovo automatico (follia che però riesco a risolvere e disabilito su entrambi)
colpo di scena finale: il nuovo codice mi viene attivato dalla data di riscossione e non dalla data di scadenza del mio vecchio abbonamento.
faccio presente all'assistenza che si stanno mangiando 26 giorni di abbonamento e chiedo una soluzione, mi rispondono che non possono farci niente.
il tempo totale di interazione con l'assistenza è stato di 1 ora e 20 minuti per finire con un mese di abbonamento in meno.
sicuramente ultima volta con McAfee.

Ich würde gerne minus -3 Sterne an diesen Laden geben. Ich hatte schon einmal ein Abo was vielleicht funktioniert hat, da mein PC aber kaum in Gebrauch war, bin ich mit über den tatsächlichen Schutz nicht vollends sicher. Da ich mittlerweile mit dem PC arbeite, wollte ich den Schutz erneuern und bei der automatischen Eingabe meiner Mail Adresse wurde eine falsche Endung hinzugefügt, was ich aber erst nach Abschluss des Kaufvertrags bemerkt habe. FAZIT: Meine Zugangsdatwn habe ich nie erhalten und ich habe keinerlei Zugriff auf die Dienstleistungen von McAfee. Kein deutscher Kundensupport erreichbar nach 10 Anrufen und keine Kulanz nach schriftlichen Bitte um Widerrufs des Auftrages. Ich hätte nach einer Rückzahlung sofort dasselbe Abo wieder gekauft. Aber so seht ihr mich als Kunden nie mehr und empfehlen werde ich diese Schei... niemandem.

Just one huge scam! They offer free trial, but if you forget to cancel before the free trial is over you're money is lost. Talk about flushing money down the drain!! And they offer no refunds for changing you're mind. That money back guarantee is one huge scam! Save you're money and buy something you actually need instead!

This company no longer supports or values its customers. It's website(s) is terrible to navigate. You can call customer service all day long without reply. AI generated (rubbish) responses are all that are available.
How this firm has declined over the past eight years is appalling.

When I purchased my new HP, it came with McAfee which I did not activiate, nor use in any way. When it expired, I unsubscribed to the notices, waited, but was not removed from their mails. I replied and threatened to start writing nasty reviews. To their credit, a McAfee representative contacted me and told me he had removed my information. But, NO, weeks later I am still getting McAfee solicitations every 2-3 days so I will start writing nasty reviews - this is #1.

I used an online company to do a broadband speed test and somehow inadvertently clicked on an ad or something from Mcafee. Now I have constant pop ups saying my PC is infected with a virus. I did a scan with Windows Defender and nothing was detected but I just can't get rid of the pop ups. I am so sick of this company, surely Trading Standards or someone can do something about this.

This is a top of the constant spam from McAfee when I’m using my brand new laptop which has plenty of free disk space, despite what McAfee pop ups keep telling me.

Mcafeee used to be professional, but now they’re just bloody pains looking for sneaky financial gains…!!

Now cancelled auto renewal. Very cynical to not notify the payment is going to be taken.

Downloaded Mcafee and it has made my laptop unusable with its constant pop ups that will not go away no matter how many times I try to fix my issue. It is awful and I regret wasting my money on it. Nightmare to get rid of

Fik mail om at mit abonnement skulle fornyes. Havde ikke et abonnement men gik for en sikkerheds skyld ind og annullerede det. Fik svar om at det var stoppet men beløbet blev alligevel trukket. Har forgæves forsøgt at kontakte dem - uden held

Ich wurde mittels eines vorgegaukelten Virenbefalls dazu gedrängt, ein weiteres Abo abzuschließen, obwohl ich bereits den McAfee Vollschutz mit 5Geräten habe!
Da ich aus einer Kurzschlußhandlung heraus das Abo abgeschlossen habe, wurde es voll berechnet, und McAfee weigert sich, den Betrag zurückzuerstatten, obwohl der Vertrag unter Einwirkung von gefakten Visusmeldungen zustandekam.
Ein Virenscan direkt nach der Aktion ergab nichts!
Die neue Version wurde auch nie heruntergeladen!
Für mich ist McAfee unten durch.

Regner med det virker.. men fik konstant popups. med extra køb. og køb inden for 5min!!!! skynd dig!! popups til tilkøb, forlængelse. der stopper hvad du er igang med på din computer.. de er utrolig iraterne. plus den automatisk slå din windows beskyttelse fra.
