Had a large group of 33 people traveling to Japan for a special occasion. Elie was very communicative with me and helped plan a day trip from Tokyo to Hakone for us with himself and 3 different guides. All the guides were really both helpful and genuinely nice/pleasant people and had a lot of patience dealing with our large group from ages 3 to 70.. would highly recommend them for any family trips

We just had an absolutely fabulous day with JP! He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, personable, and thoughtful to keep our day flowing magically despite rain and clouds in Hakone. His knowledge of the history, geography, architecture, and customs/norms is outstanding. The vehicle was exceptionally comfortable. JP had relationships with several of the vendors along the way who made our experience even more rich. He had plenty of recommendations for all of the things we were thinking of doing outside of the tour scope. This is now the gold standard for our tours. Highly recommend!

Spent the day with JP. Checked out Mt Fuji. Great experience and JP took care of everything. Incredibly helpful and did a great job telling us the history and importance of what we were seeing. Fun times.

My experience with Haven Japan was beyond excellent. I’ve travelled extensively and used guide services in multiple countries, and the two days I utilized Haven’s services was up there with the best. There was clear communication with the company from the beginning and they worked with me to tailor my trip. JP, my guide, was so nice, easy to hang out with, flexible, extremely knowledgeable, and really worked to make my two days in Japan with him special both inside and outside of Tokyo. I would highly recommend, and when I return to Japan with my family so they can experience this wonderful country, I will most definitely use their service again :)

We had a private Mt. Fuji area tour in July 2026. Despite the rain and no views of Mt Fuji we still had a great time. We stopped at an area with a few hot springs and vendors selling food and giant peaches. Other fun stops included ice caves, a music box museum on a beautiful lake, and a temple in a forest with ancient trees. Lunch was an amazing Japanese curry at an upscale, chic hostel! And we topped it off with a visit to an authentic osen.
Our driver was a Canadian who has been living in Tokyo for 8 years so there were no language issues. He was very friendly and open to adjusting our schedule based on the weather. Overall, it was a great day!

We booked a full day private tour to Mount Fuji along with a 2 hour stop at an onsen. Our tour guide JP helped to make our day exceptional! In addition to giving us information about all the points of interest along the way he told us about the history of Japan which we all found extremely interesting. He brought us to all the infamous stops around Mount Fuji and was an excellent photographer for our group photos! In addition to being an excellent guide, JP went above and beyond sharing information with us that would be useful for the rest of our stay in Tokyo. I would highly recommend this tour as it was our favorite excursion hands-down. If you’re lucky enough to have JP as your guide, it would be the cherry on top!

Elie and JP were great hosts! We had the tour personalized…including changing our minds throughout the day. Will definitely book again when we visit Toyko again. Thank you!

We had an amazing trip to Hakone with JP! He speaks perfect English (I thought he was American with his accent) and he was a kind and interesting person to spend a day with. He tailored our Hakone trip to our interests including seeing the red torii gates, the Open Air Museum, and even a cup of Amazake at a very old tea house. JP added context and history to our visit to the shrine which enhanced our experience. The car was clean a spacious. We can't recommend this tour highly enough!

Amazing experience! This was the best day of our trip. JP arrived on time and went over the itinerary with us while giving us plenty of options to make sure the day was customized for our family’s interests. JP offered great suggestions, and we saw so many amazing things and learned so much about Japan’s history. JP was very knowledgeable and a great guide to have with our family for the day. Would highly recommend this experience to everyone!

Great experience visiting Hakone with Joshua!

During our recent visit to Tokyo we booked the tour to see Mt Fuji and Hakone. Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from getting a good view of Mt Fuji, but the trip to Hakone was well worth it. Joshua helped us make the best of the experience, in spite of the weather not cooperating.

Our driver, Alexis was amazing! He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very likable. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him.
I would recommend his services without hesitation. Thank you for such an enjoyable day.

My family and I recently had the most wonderful tour of Hakone and an overall great day with JP as our guide. He was super accommodating and patient with our family of 7 (which included a few tweens/teens). He shared lots of great Japanese history and insight along the way. He also took us to a local spot for lunch where we (hands down) had the best ramen of our lives. We ended the day at a local onsen (highly recommend not skipping!). Thank you Haven Japan and JP for playing a part in making our first trip to Japan absolutely amazing. ☺️

Our guide Evan was truly excellent. As a native English speaker, he spoke very clearly and understandably, and provided us with many fascinating historical and social insights about Japan, both during the journey and at the individual sights. It was especially positive that he always made sure to involve the entire group.

Due to logistical issues, he arrived about 20 minutes late, but more than made up for it: as an apology, he treated the whole group to coffee and fully made up for the lost time at the end of the tour, even adding a bit of extra time.

His flexibility and helpfulness also deserve special mention: since we had a vegan in our group, he immediately arranged a suitable restaurant for us without hesitation. He even went the extra mile by calling ahead to check whether they accepted card payments or only cash — a truly very thoughtful service.

The tour to Nikko itself is truly impressive. Anyone looking for a mix of nature, history, and a special, almost idyllic atmosphere in Japan should definitely book this excursion.

I took my four young daughters on a wonderful tour with Evan Stutt. Who is an extremely nice Canadian man that has lived here in Japan for about 10 years. First off, the pick up (and eventual drop off) process was incredibly easy. We communicated through text messaging initially and it went very well throughout the day. We set off to see Mt. Fuji and the mountain town of Hakone in the morning. After the drive up the mountain we stopped by the Mt. Fuji viewing area. Unfortunately we experienced some heavy rain during this portion of the trip so our Fuji views were minimal. However, the reality of viewing Mt. Fuji is a bit of a coin flip anyway. We then visited multiple shrines around Hakone and Evan provided insight to everything we saw. He took us to a 400 year old tea house/rest stop that travelers would visit when they traversed from Kyoto to Edo (now Tokyo). We drank a semi sweet drink called Amazake that warmed us up and gave us a boost of energy for the rest of the day. Much like the travelers would experience on the Old Tokaido Highway. Which was the dirt road that connected Kyoto and Edo. That immersive experience was very special. Our favorite part of the day though was the Onsen in Hakone. The rainy day made in difficult to see Fuji but the feeling of being in an authentic Hakone Onsen with rain falling on your head is otherworldly! It cannot be fully described. Only felt…. In general, I cannot recommend this entire experience enough! Enjoy every second of it. Thanks again Evan!!

We had a full private day trip to Mount Fuji and surrounding areas with Evan.
From start to finish the communication and organisation was brilliant. The vehicle was modern and clean. Evan was really friendly and relaxed with what our family group wanted to do. We went at our own pace, and saw some amazing things. Evan gave us a great insight into local activity and some history keeping it interesting and fun which really worked well with our 3 teenage kids.
I would totally recommend
