Bringing our communities closer to wind energy in creative ways…   Impofu is the largest wind project under construction by Enel Green Power globally, with 57 turbines that will soon deliver renewable electricity to support South Africa’s energy transition.   In our first of its kind, under the theme “People are Energy,” three celebrated South African artists, Falko, Motel, and Bushy, painted colourful murals on the lower sections of selected turbines, bringing heritage and imagination to life.   Discover more 👇

The journey of Open Africa Power 2025 comes to an end, marking another significant step in supporting the next generation of African energy leaders. Since its launch in 2018, the program has brought together talented students and young professionals from across the continent to enhance their skills in renewable energy, policy, and sustainable energy access. Through academic training, technical modules, field visits, and hands-on learning, participants acquire the tools to accelerate a fair and inclusive energy transition. The Italian Module has now wrapped up with a closing event hosted at the UNDP Rome Centre—an opportunity to reflect on the role of youth, international cooperation, and innovation in shaping Africa’s energy future. As this edition concludes, participants return home with new knowledge, stronger networks, and a shared commitment to expanding sustainable energy solutions in their communities. The new 30 kWp Hybrid Solar Mini-Grid at the St. Kizito Vocational Training Institute in Nairobi represents a concrete step toward empowering the next generation of energy professionals in Kenya. Launched together with Italian institutions and carried out as part of the Private Sector and Innovative Energy Technologies Development in Kenya Project, this project was developed by RES4Africa Foundation and AVSI Foundation and co-financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation - Nairobi Office. The project falls within the framework of the Technical & Vocational School, a key initiative sustained by Enel Foundation. In addition to providing technical expertise, we donated the PV modules produced at our 3SUN Gigafactory in Catania, Italy. The hybrid renewable plant powers classrooms and workshops, and serves as a live training lab for students, enabling them to develop the skills needed to work with decentralized renewable energy systems and helping build a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable energy future for the region. #RenewableEnergy #Training #PeopleForDevelopment #YouthEmpowerment

🍃Clean energy, community involvement, and a long-term vision for Colombia’s energy future. The Guayepo I & II solar park supplies 865 GWh of renewable energy each year—enough to power 1.5 million people and support production at the Colombian Bavaria brewery. But the value of Guayepo goes beyond electricity generation. During the construction phase, the project created over 3,000 jobs, trained 383 workers through the National Apprenticeship Service (SENA), improved school infrastructure for 1,565 students, and supported community spaces and local development programs across the Atlántico department. A solar park that provides energy— and lasting, meaningful value for local communities. Discover the full story!👉https://lnkd.in/ebkBiq_B #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability #Colombia

Open Africa Power is helping shape a new generation of African energy leaders. Since 2018, the program— initiated by Enel Foundation, co-organized with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) since 2020, and supported by world-class academic partners—has trained hundreds of talented graduates in clean energy, innovation, and system transformation. The 2025 edition brings together 80 participants from 25 countries, with more than half being women. Today, the participants had the chance to visit one of the world’s most iconic renewable energy sites: Larderello. The group explored the Geothermal Museum, a demonstration well, the Valle Secolo power plant, and the unique geothermal landscapes of Sasso Pisano—an immersive journey into Italy’s geothermal heritage and technological excellence. Through initiatives like these, we contribute to skills development and foster international collaboration, empowering the next generation to drive Africa’s clean energy transition.
