September has us thinking about the people who teach us, shape how we see the world and leave us with lessons that stay long after the moment has passed. Sometimes, they’re mentors who challenge us to think differently. Sometimes, they’re friends who show us a new perspective. And sometimes, they’re characters in a story that teach us life’s valuable lessons.  We’ve curated five films that explore the many ways we learn - from the people we meet to the experiences that change us. Because some of life’s best lessons aren’t taught. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱. From being the world’s largest ticketing platform by volume, with 300 Mn+ tickets sold annually, to becoming a full-stack promoter, producer and curator of global artist tours and festivals, 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗠𝘆𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄’𝘀 evolution reflects how India’s live entertainment economy has transformed. At All About Music X, Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer - Live Events, BookMyShow, outlined how building live entertainment is a long game. Around the world, promoters build businesses—and audiences—over time. In India, that journey comes with its own complexities: navigating an evolving market, working closely with government stakeholders and regulatory bodies, and orchestrating hundreds of moving parts to deliver world-class live experiences to a very diverse audience. Few examples capture this journey better than 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗼𝘇𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮. What began as an ambitious proposition has now scaled to its landmark fifth year—bringing together global artists, Indian talent, fans, partners and an increasingly sophisticated live ecosystem. Naman shared that behind the spectacle is a mix of instinct, data, ambition and, above all, global talent making a beeline for India. As a promoter, it is also about knowing when to take a bet, understanding what audiences want, building the right ecosystem around it, and having the conviction to keep investing for the long term.

As we enter our next phase of growth, we’re excited to announce KKR’s investment in BookMyShow, while we continue to expand our presence across India’s fast-growing live entertainment landscape. Over the years, BookMyShow has evolved from a pioneering ticketing platform to bringing global artists and marquee experiences to audiences, to building capabilities across the live entertainment value chain — from talent and IP acquisition to production, promotion, partnerships and audience development. With KKR on board, we look forward to taking this journey even further and creating more unforgettable experiences for audiences across India. Welcoming KKR as an investor, BookMyShow Founder & CEO Ashish Hemrajani, said, “Their global perspective, deep expertise and strong understanding of consumer businesses will be invaluable as we enter the next phase of our journey. The timing of this investment is particularly exciting, as we have significantly expanded our presence across the live entertainment landscape and see the opportunity for India’s entertainment economy to grow like never before." #BookMyShow #KKR #LiveEntertainment #Entertainment #Growth #FundingAnnouncement #Fundraising

  • A national holiday. A long weekend. And, more often than not, a movie plan. The Independence Day weekend has become a cinema tradition of its own, with audiences turning up for stories that bring emotion, nostalgia and scale to the big screen. This year, Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 are adding to the lineup. Looks like the holiday plans are sorted. #ItAllStartsHere #LifeAtBookMyShow #WorkAtBookMyShow #Cinema #IndependenceDay #BoxOffice

𝑨 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝑨 𝑪𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒂 𝑯𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒕 The Independence Day weekend is upon us, and the celebrations are infectious. A flag hoisted at every corner, the tricolour flying on car dashboards, and patriotic songs drifting in from loudspeakers elevate the nation’s mood around this time. Over the years, we have observed that this joyousness is also reflected in the box office. This is also the time when two or more films commonly clash in theatres. Independence Day weekend has grown into one of the biggest advance booking windows in our annual film calendar; distributors watch it closely, tracking how fast shows fill up before a release. Genre and holiday timings shape that number as much as star power, and audience curiosity often turns into commitment. Unlike Diwali and Christmas, which are traditionally associated with family gatherings and a preference for light-hearted comedies and wholesome entertainers, the Independence Day weekend offers filmmakers a distinct opportunity to tap into patriotic sentiment and more serious, emotionally driven storytelling. The significance of the occasion creates a natural audience appetite for films rooted in patriotism, drama, history and stories of national pride, making it a particularly strong window for such releases. Over the years, this weekend has therefore emerged as a differentiated release period where content-led, patriotic and high-emotion films can find a receptive audience, alongside mainstream commercial cinema. And this year’s no different. With Bollywood lining up two major releases, audiences are raring to go. While Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam, the anti-hero from the 2007 cult favourite Awarapan, in 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏 2, Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi team up for 𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒂 1947, a large-scale Partition-era drama produced by Aamir Khan. Both releases have given fans enough reason to lock in showtimes early as they both cater to their unique audience profile. This variety will also ensure that audiences want to watch both films as they bridge the class-mass divide effectively. After a strong run of event films and the blockbuster performance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, audiences have shown that they always turn up for scale, emotion, nostalgia and a shared big-screen experience. That, to me, has been the real story of 2026—the return of audiences to the theatres. And now, families choosing cinema-going as part of their national holiday celebrations is just the cherry on top. • Samradha Tibrewala, Head - Partnerships & Revenue at BookMyShow has spent years sitting across the table from brands trying to figure out how to show up at live events, and this post is a distillation of what that work has taught her. Read on to understand her vivid insights on what it means for fans to now buy their identities from experiences and not just products. #ItAllStartsHere #LifeAtBookMyShow #WorkAtBookMyShow #ExperientialEconomy #Insights

Fans don’t buy tickets. They buy identity. Think about the last show you booked. The artist you chose. The festival you saved up for months together. The outfit you planned weeks in advance. None of it was accidental. Every one of those decisions said something deliberate about who you are, and who you want to be seen as. There was a time when identity was expressed through what you owned. Increasingly, it's expressed through where you choose to show up. According to BookMyShow and EY-Parthenon's Beyond Attention. Into Immersion report, 78 percent of Indian consumers now prefer spending on experiences over products. That's more than a spending shift. It's a reflection of how people increasingly define identity through participation rather than possession. 70 percent of live event attendees in India are under 35. For this generation, a festival is a cultural identity marker, a deliberate choice about how they want to be seen. For brands, this changes the entry point entirely. You are no longer buying media in front of an audience. You are joining a community, one with its own codes, its own standards, and a sharp instinct for who genuinely belongs. The most telling shift I've seen up close: logo placement has quietly become a footnote in partnership conversations. What brands ask for now is a role in the experience itself. That role is earned through relevance. It comes from understanding what this community values and showing up in ways that add to the experience rather than interrupt it. Our report found that 63 percent of attendees felt brands enhanced their event experience, while 59 percent recalled brands they engaged with on-ground. That tells us relevance creates memory far more effectively than visibility alone. Presale access that makes a fan feel chosen. A space people want to spend time in. A moment they'll still be talking about till next year. Get that right, and the brand becomes a part of how someone remembers their best night of the year. So, here is a question worth sitting with: do we understand the identity of the community we want to join? Because the audience has already answered their half of the personality test - they booked the ticket.

There's a night every venue operator dreams of. The line moves, the show opens on time, nobody remembers the systems working because nothing went wrong. As part of our #ThinkingOutLoud series, CTO - BookMyShow, Noel Curtis, discusses his observation that this used to come down to luck. Today, he argues, it's engineering, and the AI doing that engineering is designed to be invisible by nature. If it's working, you won't be able to point to it. The piece traces what that looks like in practice: gate scans, crowd density, point-of-sale activity and staffing feeding into a single live view, so a team can catch pressure building at one entrance before it becomes the story of the night. Discover more insights on tackling the assumption that AI in live events starts and ends with the ticket by reading his latest article! #ItAllStartsHere #LifeAtBookMyShow #WorkAtBookMyShow #LiveEvents #Insights

  • India didn't always have music arenas, and for a long time, nobody could prove that an international artist could reliably sell tickets here. On the Bob Lefsetz Podcast, Ashish Hemrajani, Founder and CEO - BookMyShow, talks about how the company ended up solving these problems, along with the journey across twenty seven years. The conversation gets into the physical, unglamorous side of the business that most people never see: the stages, the barricading, the sound systems, all built and owned because the market simply didn't offer any alternative. It also gets into what happens when a global artist decides to trust that infrastructure completely, and what that trust can turn into. A few moments worth listening for: → The stadium show that quietly set a 21st century world record, and what it took to get the ground playable again two weeks later → Why one major international artist asked to leave the biggest, safest show behind and go deeper into the country instead → The specific reason India doesn't have a secondary ticket market, and why that might not stay true forever → How touring routes through the Middle East and Southeast Asia are quietly reshaping which artists come to India, and when For more detailed insights on how BookMyShow has lifted up and continues to shape the live concert economy, check out the full conversation on the Bob Lefsetz Podcast below: http://bit.ly/3RKddAZ
