As a diehard tinkerer, I became aware of Vintage Hifi Nut and, upon suggestion from my brother, sourced their Cardas tonearm re-wiring kit.
The four-prong poles of my Luxman PD-272 were challenging, so I drilled a tiny hole between them and threaded the new cable through, duck soup.
Now, everything is freshly aligned and adjusted, I am a very, very happy camper. Been going through my collection and am simply amazed by what treasures I have (found)!

I ordered a wire kit for my TT and when it arrived it exceeded my expectations and had everything I needed plus it was of great quality. What really impressed me is when I ask for information on my PL 50a I was provided all the help I needed to complete my repair. To be honest without this help I never could have got my turntable up and running. The guys here are so knowledgable and friendly with help. This is my go to site for parts and a little conversation. I recently purchased CARDAS Iridium PHONO cable from Matt at vintagehifinut.com It was a part of upgrade for Thorens TD-135 mk2 turntable I revamped.
Prior to this purchase I used a set of custom phono RCA cables made from vintage industrial SIEMENS 1935 cable. Never was a CARDAS follower before cuz did not believe in any modern cables. Always believed in the magic of true vintage: SIEMENS, good ol’ BELDEN, and others.
CARDAS truly surprised me. Full musical stage was right there in the room. Deep enough, very strong middle and controlled bass. Iridium did it for me and my setup. If you wish to get familiar with CARDAS line of products – do get Iridium.
Yes, it is an introductory cable set.
Yes, there are other “upscale” cables in their product line. But if you are getting to know CARDAS then do try their Iridium line. For me and for my setup this cable gave a very good understanding what to expect from CARDAS in general — excellent sound quality that helps bring the best out of your setup.
I do suggest to consult with Matt prior to purchasing ANY CARDAS cables just to make sure the proper cable is selected specifically for YOUR particular audio system and YOUR sound spectrum needs.
It did help me for sure – very very knowledgable and reliable professional as well as good citizen.
