Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 62 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many reported poorly maintained machines that frequently broke down, often after payment, resulting in wasted money and time. Customers also faced significant frustration with payment systems, including internet issues and difficulty obtaining refunds for failed services. The quality of wash and dry cycles was often disappointing, with clothes remaining dirty or damp, and machines sometimes leaving pet hair, all for a price many deemed excessively high for the unreliable service and poor results. However, some customers noted satisfaction with the machines' performance when operational, especially for large items like duvets. They appreciated effective spin cycles.

  1. Laundry Service

Written by the company

Wash Me UK is redefining the laundry experience. As of 2020, there are less than 600 launderettes throughout the entirety of the UK. Answering the market’s ongoing need for convenience and control over washing larger bulks and bigger items, Wash Me is the only laundry service that is able to put the power of washing back in the customer’s hands. Wash Me offer rapid solutions for customers on the go, delivering consistently perfect washes through its 9kg and 20kg drums; perfect for clothes, duvets and cushions. Every machine provides eco-friendly solutions through optional solar panels, automatic light sensors that turn off and on depending on customer vicinity, and free eco-friendly detergent included in each wash. As well as washing, the dryer provides options for your laundry depending on temperature and material type. Aligned with the company’s wider mission of Making Easy work of everyday tasks, Wash Me machines are designed to automate as much of the process as possible. If a customer leaves their laundry unattended, the machine will remain locked until the time has elapsed. A free of charge text reminder is also sent to the customer’s device a few minutes before the wash has finished, and payments are easier than ever with machines now accepting contactless payment.

Royal Wootton Bassett location — mattress protector came out covered in pet hair

Washed a kingsize mattress protector at the Royal Wootton Bassett machine and it came out covered in someone else's pet hair. Clearly the drum hadn't been cleaned between washes — disgusting to pay for a "clean" wash and end up with a protector dirtier than when it went in.
Looking at other reviews here, I'm not the first person to report this exact problem — seems the machines aren't being properly cleaned or maintained between customers. For a service that's meant to save you a trip to the launderette, this defeats the entire point. Would not recommend and won't be using again until there's some visible standard of hygiene between washes.

Disappointing across the board

If I could give zero stars, I would. I’m travelling in the UK and have discovered the Wash.me machines. It’s a brilliant idea and a great alternative to traditional laundrettes. I’ve now used the machines three times during my trip. Every single time, the machines were absolutely filthy and full of pet hair. All the machines were located on petrol station premises. On some occasions, I even had to clear shopping trolleys and cardboard boxes left by the petrol station staff from around the machines. When I used the last machine, the 20kg washing machine didn’t wash properly and my laundry was only half wet. After that, the machine couldn’t be used any more and an error message appeared on the display. As I needed to wash my laundry, I split the large load into two and did two 9kg loads. I then put both loads into the tumble dryer. Luckily, I had no plans that afternoon… I informed the petrol station staff member that the 20kg washing machine wasn’t working. He thanked me for letting him know, but at the same time made it clear that it wasn’t his problem and that I should contact customer services.
It was a Sunday afternoon, so I sent an email. Which turned out to be incredibly complicated. I specified the location, attached photos as evidence, and photographed all the signs and the machine’s serial number, yet the reply I received was, that I should look up the location and the device number on the website.
Then I was told to explain the problem again. Then I was asked to send a bank statement showing the £11 debit as proof. Then I was asked to provide a bank account number.
Just to remind you… I’m not a UK citizen. It took days to get hold of the bank statement, only to be told that the £11 for the failed wash cycle could only be transferred to a UK bank account. There’s no option for a voucher or anything similar. And with that, the matter was closed as far as the three different staff members I’d been allowed to communicate with via email were concerned.
My conclusion is: I’d rather spend a bit more money and go to a laundrette, where my washing is actually washed and not just made wet, so I don’t end up walking around with someone else’s pet hair on my black cardigan...

Great results for a reasonable outlay

I needed to wash a duvet and very large (expensive) sofa throw. It cost £20 to wash and dry them and they came up beautifully. It does sound expensive but both items cost well over £100 so I feel it was worth it. The added conditioner has a lovely scent. I found the machines quite easy to use - I read all the instructions carefully. The machines were clean and working. Overall I was very pleased.

Not the best dryer scent but very good customer service

I had a bulk load of clothes and sheets that needed a wash so decided to take it to the wash me machines as they are huge, managed to get it all washed and they smelled fresh and clean out of the washer however once i put them in the dryer and took them out they had a smell of cannabis on them which would have no reason to so I wasn’t very happy with this as it’s not very pleasant, I got into contact with the customer services and they have promptly issued a refund and apologised, they are pricey but does the job you want, just be wary of the scent of the washers and dryers before use.

Using the wash.me at Stafford services

Using the wash.me at Stafford services. The washing came out absolutely dripping wet £13.

I have it currently in the dryer for 30 minutes £7, knowing full well I'll need to do it again just to dry it.

There is no way to contact anyone. Can't get logged into the app.

The potential of having 5 stars in my…

The potential of having 5 stars in my review was taken away because of the app. As confirmed by other reviewers the app is only available in Arabic, seems all others who have commented on this in their reviews have not been responded to even ones left over a year ago so seems the company are not worried about catering for the country in which they are making money from, sure there maybe a demographic in the UK who could probably read it and use it but not British people with a UK phone number.

All that aside, the other comments I read were quite off putting as I stood with my laundry in the machines, but gladly I didn't experience the same issues as some others seem to have had.

I used the 20 kilo machine twice and the 9 kilo machine 3 times and the dryer twice for 30 mins a time.

I washed lots of towels, jeans, bedding and general t-shirts etc all except one white t-shirt (my sons, with orange stain on) came out suitably clean and done in a cycle that was around 40mins on the large machine and 30 on the smaller one, using the setting which included softener and some anti-bacterial thing too.
The total I paid for all of this was around £63. I did have one basket load which I took home to dry as it had lighter items in which will dry quickly on the washing line.

I used the machines by Cresswells Garage on Finchampstead Road, Wokingham.

So weighing up the pros and cons:-
Pros -
*laundry done and dusted much quicker than in my home.
*What would've taken me 3 days to battle through took about 3 hours in this machine
*Convenient location with shops nearby
*Spin cycle was effective enough that you could bypass the dryer and dry fairly fast on your line at home.

Cons-
*The cost is fairly high.
*You don't have the option to use your own preferred laundry detergents or softeners so who know what is actually used.
*The app is not usable so you don't get the benefits of offers and money off they claim to have for you.

Summary - I would probably use this service again but not as a regular thing and will probably just do towels to get through the big heavy items quicker and do general laundry at home.

What a surprise I had....

So, this morning I decided that my duvet needed to go in the bin or get a wash.
My local petrol station has one of those ..Wash Me stations, but before I went I had a look at the reviews.
Wow, they were not very good to be honest and nearly put me off, but the alternative was a new duvet, which would cost about £75 to replace the quality that I have.
So I bit the bullet and off I went.
Now, I know it was not going to be cheap, but, I feel a bit on the pricy side, but pops it in and off it goes.
Now I have seen the reviews where people are concerned about the water not being enough and I can understand where they are coming form, as the water level seemed to be low.
So, 45 minutes later, to my surprise, my washing was ready to be inspected.
Wow, I can say , I was NOT disappointed. It was cleaner and smelt lovely.
Then it was time for the dryer, again, £7 for 30 minutes, with the weather nice today, decided to just do 30 minutes and then put on the line, but, again, to my surprise, it was dry after the 30 minutes.
So, to round up my experience, I would say it was very positive and has saved me a few quid.
If there's a negative, that would be the price, I would of loved to gone back and done all my pillows, but £18 for my bedding was enough for today.
But deffo go back and do my pillows another day

You wanted my personal information for a refund, have this review instead

There’s about a 50% chance that any given machine will not be working, or will fail at some point in the payment or wash or drying process, necessitating contacting their customer services. Previously they would refund directly to your card, but now want a bunch of personal information before they will issue a refund. Keep your £3.50, and have this review instead.

Don't bother

not sure what's happening and why all your machines seem to be falling apart, but just tried a 20kg wash in Bolton, at BL26HP, no site code on the machine again, first up the was failed with 22 mins left, but left my clothes sitting in a pool of water, so have spent another 2*30 minutes in the dryer, but I'm not sure that's working correctly either as it didn't get anything more than slightly warm to the touch and my clothes are still sopping. So, I'm down £30, got a pile of half washed, still soaking clothes and have wasted 2 hours of my life, plus I still need to wash my clothes......Honestly, the service used to be good, but everything seems to be falling apart at the moment

Expensive, poor customer service, poor washing performance

Expensive! Duvet didn’t even smell like it had been washed, unfortunately I accidentally dropped my phone while loading the machine and it went into the casing surrounding the machine, was a lock at the front so I called wash.me customer services to help me, got told someone would be in the area in the next couple of weeks and would get my phone out then for me! Maybe give whoever you rent the space from (in my case Morrisons store) a spare key incase of emergencies so the casing can be opened! (someone else using the machine almost dropped her car keys down the same gap)

I'll start with....

I'll start with....
I didn't even get past the starting gate.
The App is "having an update"
When was this initiated and when will it be ready "don't know. It's another department "
That doesn't leave me with much confidence.
"It's entirely up to you."
So you won't placate my concern in having confidence in your products?
"No"
I left...would not recommend on the grounds of:
1. Customer Service
2. IT technical issues
3. Disregard for any inconvenience to customers
4. Nothing on their website is helpful

Machine broke terrible customer service and help

Machine broke locking my washing in the machine rang the "help line" and told an engineer would be dispatched urgently after waiting an hour rang back as the car park closed soon only to find out that the office shuts at I guess 4pm. Managed to get someone via WhatsApp of all things only to be told the call out is 24hr and I shouldn't of waited and the engineer will call me or leave my clothes at the local shop where it's situated. So now I have no work clothes no idea when I'll actually get them back and I'm furious at the suggestion at my clothes being left with some random shop. Wasn't even offered the price of the wash back as a token of good faith. Only had to use it as Currys have taken over 4 weeks to fix my washer which is still under warranty and this kinda feels like the icing on the cake.
