Shout-out to outstanding staff!
I’m a regular customer at your Sheffield City Centre Lidl, and today I’d like to give a special shout-out to one of your team members—Jayant. The standard of service he provides truly makes all the difference.
Having worked in customer service for over 15 years, I know just how much a small interaction can shape someone’s day, for better or worse. Jayant’s smooth, thoughtful service stands out; it’s honestly hard to match even elsewhere. Sadly, it’s all too common these days to feel awkward asking for basic help, but that is never the case with him. He always greets you with a smile and a genuine willingness to assist. It feels like you’re the only customer in the store, even when it’s busy. He moves swiftly between tills, yet is instantly there when you need help—always friendly and professional.
I’m sharing this because I’ve had far too many experiences where staff seem unapproachable or grumpy, making you hesitate to ask even simple questions. It really makes you wonder: should people like Jayant and those who barely engage really be paid the same, when they’re providing such different service?
I truly hope the right people in management read this. Jayant deserves full recognition and reward for his excellent work. He’s an asset to your store—and if you don’t see that, you risk losing someone truly outstanding.
Never to return this store. Awful awful store
What an experience of such bad service and awful staff.
From security, self loader and check out staff - rude, arrogant and totally unprofessional towards customers and management.
Poor Store manager.

Our local store has been lovely
Our local store has been lovely. Nice staff, plenty of parking, good quality food. And, really good prices.
Banning customers for not being happy about being accused of stealing plastic bags
Promote unhealthy American style large sized food in their middle of Lidl campaigns, cheap rip offs of better products and they target women alone to accuse them of stealing bags
40p bags that they are making their customers pay for their EPR and literally treating people like thieves - even if we pay
I had a really upsetting and…
I had a really upsetting and humiliating experience at Lidl in Aldershot today.
I went into the store with my mother-in-law and my baby son, who was in his pram. We were looking for one specific vegetable item and, as Lidl didn’t have what we needed, we hadn’t picked up or touched a single item in the store.
I was already carrying a heavy shopping bag from another shop, so as we were leaving, my mother-in-law suggested that I take my backpack out from underneath the pram, carry that on my back, and put my heavy shopping bag underneath the pram instead.
As we were doing this, the security guard suddenly appeared and began looking into the pram. He then stood directly in front of us as we were trying to leave, effectively blocking our way through the tills.
Because it was so obvious that he was inspecting the pram, I said, “Do you want to check the pram?” I genuinely expected him to say no, particularly considering we had not purchased, picked up or even touched anything in the store. Instead, he said yes.
So there I was, with my baby, having to pull things out of his pram in front of everyone to prove that I hadn’t stolen anything. Unsurprisingly, there was absolutely nothing from Lidl in there.
I found the whole experience incredibly embarrassing and degrading.
Yes, I understand that shops have a responsibility to prevent theft. Yes, I understand the argument that “if you haven’t stolen anything, you have nothing to worry about.” But that completely misses the point.
Why should I have to publicly prove my innocence when I had done absolutely nothing to warrant being treated as suspicious?
As a mum with a baby and a pram, I am so tired of feeling as though the pram automatically makes me a potential thief. Being watched, approached and then expected to empty out my baby’s belongings in public is humiliating. Mothers should not be made to feel like criminals simply because a pram has storage underneath it.
And yes, I technically asked whether he wanted to check the pram, but it was clearly rhetorical. By that point he was already standing in front of us, looking into it and preventing us from simply walking through the tills.
After proving that I had absolutely nothing belonging to Lidl in my pram, we left.
I have contacted Lidl directly about what happened and I am awaiting their response, but I wanted to leave this review because customers should know how this experience made me feel.
Protecting your store from theft is one thing. Making an innocent mother empty her baby’s pram in public when she hasn’t even touched an item in your store is another.
It was embarrassing, upsetting and completely unnecessary. I sincerely hope Lidl reviews how situations like this are handled, because no innocent customer should leave a supermarket feeling like they have just been treated as a criminal.
Used to be great. Not so much any more.
Been using my local Lidl store in for several years, but problems here seem to be getting worse. The store has next to no shopping trolleys, blaming thieves stealing them, but they won't get any new ones. How do they expect to run a supermarket when they have about 3 small trolleys and not many more regular sized ones. They only have awkward to use baskets on small wheels inside the store, meaning if I bring my own bags for life with me I have to carry them under my arm and drag a basket around behind me, not to mention bending down to keep putting items in the basket. Quality of food not great either, with my usual Oaties biscuits seeming overcooked to the point of looking burnt, bread recipes seem to be changing for the worse, they put coffee in plastic jars now, both red and gold blends, and made the Columbian and Costa Rican deluxe weaker and less flavoursome. Prices keep creeping up though. Lidl plus got rid of coupon plus scheme, and introduced Lidl plus points that are much less generous. I go in for sucralose sweeteners and all they have is aspartame ones, because everyone wants the sucralose, they sell out, but rather than order more, they just leave the shelf with nothing but the ones no-one wants. Less staff working on tills now since they installed self serve checkouts, so often only 1 manned till open with long queue, and no spare staff since they are needed to help customers on self service tills. I have to start shopping in Sainsbury's next door more often now to buy the items Lidl are out of stock of. At one time, Lidl used to be great, plenty of shopping trolleys outside, everything I wanted in stock, no queueing at tills, better offers on Lidl plus, better prices, I could go on, but if I didn't know better, I would say, based on my experience of my local store, that Lidl was in financial trouble.
Completely useless.
Completely useless.
They sell gift cards that I regularly purchase (the YELLOW YouChoose gift cards, that can be used at All participating retailers, and not just the garden or entertainment ones). They've run out, so I asked a member of staff about them.
I was told that they were handled by a third party and "nothing to do with us".
I've since engaged with their terrible chatbot on their website.
I've not even received a reply email.
So... I'm moving my weekly shop (over £200) to another retailer.
So I can't give 0 stars.
So I can't give 0 stars.
Lidl Whitfield in Kent what a complete shambles.
I needed a few pizzas for dinner ( not my normal shop) so I decided to nip into Lidl BIG BIG MISTAKE.
After I found what I needed I proceeded to the checkout .
They only had 1 checkout open with at least 5/6 people waiting with huge trolleys. The self service was rammed with more lights flashing red than a street in London red lights district.
No sign of any movement from the staff so I just chucked my frozen on a shelf and walked out as did the couple behind me.
What a crap store and even worse service.
Back to Tesco I go and never again step foot inside a Lidl store.

Wasn't sure if I had gone to visit my local supermarket or if I was at a driving instructors school. Do something about this, can't move for learner drivers. Instructors to blame, take them where they should be, on the road.
Middle of Lidl
Middle of Lidl, do they only cater for fat people when it comes to clothes?? I've never been able to find medium, just masses of large and larger. A frustrating shop at the best of times.

I am a frequent Lidl shopper had recently purchased a dental hygiene flosser and I have to say how impressed I was with the functionality and ease of use. I was so impressed that I recommended it to all my family and friends. Keep up the good work Lidl.
Good prices
We love lidl
We love lidl, the produce is always great, priced fairly and the middle aisles have interesting items.
The staff at normanton and featherstone are super. Always friendly and always helpful.
I do my major shop at lidl, just get the name brands that arent always available there from the big 4, but frankly, the fresh bakery sections bread and cakes are way superior to those of any of the other stores.
Keep up the great work lidl.
Like last week when I shopped at…
Like last week when I shopped at Chessington and today at Hersham, items that were reduced were charged at full price at the till. I only noticed this when I read the receipt at home, Is this how they make their profit?
Lidl Holloway Road
Lidl Holloway Road. Hellish experience where you work on the till, then swipe your receipt to be allowed out of the shop.
No human cashier. The very worst of all Lidl, aldi and other retailers I know.
I had been back after half a year or so and every time it's more painful to shop there.
This is not about their products
THIS IS MY FIRST TRIP TO LIDL IN 13…
THIS IS MY FIRST TRIP TO LIDL IN 13 YEARS AT SQUIRES GATE BLACKPOOL .WONDERFUL SERVICE HELPFUL STAFF. GREAT RANGE OF PRODUCTS. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THEY NEED A YOUNG ASSISTANT WHO WILL REPLACE THE SHELFS AND TAKE AWAY THE EMPTY BOXES. ONE YOUNG MANAGER WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP US FIND PRODUCTS AND EVEN LEFT HIS CHECK OUT STATION TO HELP. RECOMMEND TO ALL FR ANTHONY
What happened to all the power tools?
What happened to all the power tools? Lidl always had a good selection of tools at a sensible price, but I've been looking for the last couple of months and there's nothing. This week not even a drill, although what I need is their multi-tool. It was one of the good reasons for going to Lidl, but nothing for months and the local staff have no idea whether it will ever come back. This is Lidl Castle Bridge Road, Nottingham
If I could give zero stars then I…
If I could give zero stars then I would. Bought the specially selected steaks - the expensive ones in the cardboard boxes. A fillet and a rump. The fillet was riddled with fat throughout and was inedible. The rump had a stick piece of fat (about a third of the steak) hidden underneath it so it couldn't be seen in the package. In my view this looks like underhand selling of substandard produce. Lidl is definitely not to be trusted.
8 year old Lidl Balmuir blended whisky…
8 year old Lidl Balmuir blended whisky increased in price in 1 month by £3+ so a £14.99 BTL is now £18.20 WTF 🤬 what crazy bot/AI thinks this is a fair price increase
