Our 4th time of 15 days in a month on the mobile pass over the last 7 years, so this review is from experiences from UK to Athens. We’ve managed to go where we needed each time with brilliant experiences, scenery, culture and diverse travel companions along the way. As much as possible we reserve in advance (through International Rail in Australia or through agents recommended by The Man in Seat 61 website which is brilliant in assisting planning the trips. Some things have become more difficult over the years: 1. The contracting out of services can mean that attractive looking direct, regional and suburban trains are no longer covered by Eurail.(The app is really useful on this); 2. There is massive upgrading of rail lines and stations across Europe, especially in the Balkans, so give yourself 45 minutes or more for what were once reliable 12 minute transfers between trans; 3 The Rail Planner app has an annoying habit of crashing at inopportune times - we’ve missed critical connections and been scolded by several conductors we we couldn’t show our ticket. To fix problems you need excellent wifi: you may need to update the app or wait for wifi to kick in before seeking online assistance for a fix. If you are travelling in an e-sim, the app can be problematic when crossing borders and changing telco providers. This was particularly bad entering Austria from Slovenia. If possible, print out reservations: this saved us in some countries if the app was being difficult… 4. High speed trains are usually packed, and in some countries this includes many standing passengers and baggage in the aisles due to unreserved passengers just climbing in: especially bad in Poland and Austria. We started using the slower Regional trains where possible. They are comfortable, slower to enjoy the scenery and local colour, byo food and generally un crowded (except for Fridays and weekends). Often high speed isn’t worth the hassle and it ain’t glamorous in 2nd class. 5. Google translate was very useful to make reservations in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia (print in advance if you can)… with sometimes hilarious responses in Bulgaria and Romania ( but we got our tix!). 6. Hotels are easy to find around traditional city main stations … but often remote from TGV and other high speed stations (and especially Belgrade’s “Central” station which is NOT “central” and has lacked services like currency changes or clear local transit information). eSIMs and Apple/Google maps are crucial at times like these. BUT, overall the Eurail experience is still brilliant, but be prepared to be flexible-with-a-smile when stuff happens due to trackwork or the demolition of your station for an upgrade!

The Customer service team is very fast and helpful! I had two issues and both were resolved favourably for me.
1: I accidently made a reservation for the days after I wanted to travel; only 8 minutes after I sent an e-mail about this, I got a reply and the reservation for the day I wanted.
2: Only 12 hours before we wanted to travel back home, my 87-year old mother fell and was unable to continute our train trips. Although reservations for two trains were non-refundable, Eurail reviewed the possibility of an exceptional refund in light of the circumstances, and only 3,5 hours after sending the doctor's declaration, we were fully compensated.
The only reason I did not rate 5 stars, is that the process of making reservations should be improved, e.g. by the possibility of choosing a seat. We needed three first class seats, which were unavailable in quite a number of trains we wanted to book online, almost three months prior to departure.

We are from Australia and have used eurail several times and once again excellent.

The booking process is simple. I would purchase this pass anytime I’m planning long visits.

I had a first class pass. First wasn’t available on one of my days travel. First class was available on another day and I booked a seat. However, when I boarded the train, I had been bumped to a second class seat. I talked to the train manager and was promptly told get in my allocated seat.

Excellent service and easy to use. Great value too

Good service that makes travel in Europe way simpler. The company is ethical too, however there have been some issues of data leaks recently.
It is very expensive though, and I wonder if it would be cheaper to just buy the 1 or 2 tickets per day than take the pass. Finally, the seat reservation is based on luck, sometimes you'll get a good seat, sometimes, you'll be facing the opposite direction for hours with no window.

The application process is straightforward. The App works very well. Also prompt response and assistance when I needed help to correct an error I made with my passport number.

Experience was good but few Italy routes are not covered in this pass but its shown available on the app.
Example: Como s Giovani to Milan airport terminal 1

The app worked for seats most of the time and helped with planning a great deal. All on two of the nine trains the bathrooms were really pretty clean...

It's a good and ecological way to travel and visit more than one place. The app is comfortable. Booking seats was not always possible via the app. There a link to the right homepage would be helpful.
The app-team was very helpful when there was a problem. We could find a very good solution.

If I had written this review in the winter of 2023 I would have been very praising. I did a 2 month Interrail and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I paid less than £1000 for 2 months travel on the majority of trains.
However, it is now nearly May 2026 and we are coming down from the abysmal treatment of our sensitive information by Eurail. They allowed the leaking of much of my personal data, including the very sensitive passport data.
Not only did it take Eurail nearly a month after they started to let people know before they emailed me, but the final conclusion took them about four months. That's 4 months in which people are worried about being a victim of identity fraud. Why was my passport information still stored in their databases over 2 years after I used their service? Was it not even encrypted?
At the end of the day, Eurail have not even offered compensation to those affected by this breach.
As I said, in 2023 I would have recommended Eurail to so many people, but this gross failing of our trust means I can no longer do that. It pains me to say that I thought one day I might use the company again. I don't think I can do that anymore.
Yes, this is a world in which there are unscrupulous people doing unscrupulous things to get ahold of our personal data. But why does it take this big a breach for the company to tighten up security? Those responsible for this massive failing of trust should be jailed.
The basic concept of Eurail works but the major flaw is that you cannot (generally) book your specific seats on most legs through Eurail. Seat reservations are generally mandatory. You are directed to go to third-party sites to buy seat reservations, greatly increasing the cost of the actual trip. In Portugal you can only book seats in-country at stations. We found that the first-class seats that we were entitled to were sometimes not available, probably because we couldn't pre-book.

Totally disappointed! No customer service chatbots only.
Tried to book my European holiday Trail route reservation site said all destinations where unavailable 3 weeks prior to my departure.
Arrived in Amsterdam signed up for NSInterail, no problem.
Customer service (no chat bots) went above and beyond beyond.
Trying to get a refund from EURAIL and they are trying to give me a voucher even though I never booked anything through their platform. I would not use recommend them at all!!!

App is terrible and a disservice to the Eurail concept and program, Next time will just pay as I go rather than wasting so much time fiddling with poorly designed unintuitive cumbersom App,

Really good app and great concept, but I am raging about their ineptitude of losing very sensitive information of 308,000 accounts including the following detail. All they can advise is to change the password on every Internet account I use. Utter clowns!...

Passport number (including country of issuance and expiration date)
