k1600b grand america
I bought my k1600b grand america almost 2 years ago. I've had 2 issues in that time and bmw have been amazing. From collection to health report and fixing my problems, the communication throughout the whole process has been 2nd to none. On collection i was greeted with a smile and a handshake. That says a lot to me. They went above and beyond to make sure i was completely satisfied with the work carried out. All this was carried out under the warranty package i have. I highly recommend getting cover, it gives you total peace of mind, and can save you a lot of money if anything should go wrong. They even cleaned it for me! Well done bmw motorrad. I am one very happy customer.
K1600 interface is bad / unreliable / dangerous
Just purchased a brand new K1600GT for £25000 and the interface to the screen, nav, controls is shocking. Wifi drop out to the phone, clunky mapping, poor set up where you have to have the map dowloads to your phone and navigate from the phone. System dropping connections mid ride.
BMW should be absolutely ashamed they have put this rubbish on what is a mechanically lovely machine.
Feel deeply let down by them and a little stupid for not checking the forums before I purchased. Been with Kawasaki for many years and this is my first BMW experience and I hate this part of it. Its actually dangerous because you have to p’ about with it whilst riding. Super distracting and a shocking piece of BMW engineering.
Why they have not just used a carplay interface or similar I’ve no idea.
Sort yourselves out BMW.
Temu is better quality
I purchased the panniers and top box. $4350 of rubbish.
The boxes are all marked , the lock barrel fell out on my way home from the dealer and the topbox mount fitted by the dealer is loose and I do not know how I made it home. Could have got better quality from Temu.
Exactly the right part for my R1200RT…
Exactly the right part for my R1200RT quick delivery, and,(believe it or not), far cheaper than ebay. Wish I'd looked there first
BMW Motorrad customer service.
Having owned several BMW cars and motorcycles over the years I am astonished to find just how low BMW customer service levels have sunk to.
Completely unhelpful and dismissive to customers.
Staff completely bereft of product knowledge and seeking to deflect problems elsewhere rather than deal with them and help solve issues with very expensive products that have failed within a short time.
It makes the decision to never buy a BMW product again a very easy one.
Jokers of the bike world
Bought myself a M1000XR, aged 53 with 3 points, locked garage and 2 trackers and safe small low crime town, could not even get insurance with them, what a complete joke of a company
Premium price, poor product and after care
R1250RT LE Premium price, poor dealerships and non existent customer service.
I have three Motorrad dealers near me. The supplying dealer, Vines, is primarily a car dealership but still Motorrad. When I collected the bike it was handed over in the pouring rain, no indoor hand over and documents handed in a plastic bag. Standing in the pouring rain clutching a plastic bag whilst handing over 22k …. Triumph supply a rucksack and premium portfolio document folder.
When I got it home it was evident that the bike hadn’t been PDI’d and the salesman knew less about the bike than I did. It had paint defects that should have been addressed before hand over. First service and it was handed back, while you wait - 3 hours later - and when I started it the side fairing fell off as it hadn’t been secured. The promised replacement of luggage with paint issues didn’t happen as they had forgotten to order the top box. When I got home I could smell burning oil and found that when they had topped up the oil it had spilt between the rocker cover and a protective cover, it had cooked and stained the paint necessitating a new rocker cover.
I tried the second dealer, Balmer Lawn, a multi franchise set up. I tried them for software warranty work. Never answered the phone or updated me as promised on progress, promised to valet the bike, didn’t. They also refused to reimburse my ferry travel despite being directed to do so by BMW UK. The third dealer was similarly poor. They booked me in for the annual service under the service plan from BMW. When I got there they said I’d have to pay as the bike was still under the mileage despite having all the info at the time of booking. When I did get it re booked they double booked me with another customer. However there has been some reorganising and I had a call from their dealer principal who was keen to sort the problems out and there is an obvious improvement. Finally BMW Customer Care, I’m not sure what its function is. With all the issues I have had and continue to have all they effectively do is refer you to the dealer and reimburse travel costs. I have had a good will gesture but in terms of getting issues resolved they apparently have no influence over the dealers, I have had an email to that effect. This bike could be the best bike I have ever owned but it is let down by poor software, poor dealerships and a lack of desire by BMW UK to address the shortcomings. Three months to get the SOS system fixed, three months to get the turn signals fixed and a Sat Nav system that simply does not work. I haven’t even bothered to recount the number of calls I have made and the ‘computer says no’ attitude of the first line CS operators you have to get through to speak with CS.
BMW are known for their shaft drive bikes, I have now received a letter from BMW that the drive shafts are failing prematurely and that they will inspect it at customer cost and if it’s worn replace it free of charge or replace it at 60k. Of course this is reliant on a BMW service history….
Reading this you may conclude I am a Victor Meldrew, I can assure you I am not. I really want to like the bike and had hoped for a premium owner experience to match the price. Based on this experience, which is still not resolved, I cannot recommend BMW. The illusion of a premium product with unrivalled customer care is simply that - smoke and mirrors.
My bike is coming up to three years old, based on its unreliability to date I enquired about an extended warranty. £1300 for three years, other manufacturers are offering between 6 and 10 free!
Poor BMW customer service TFT dash theft and design flaw
Do not buy a c400x or any bike with a TFT dash unless you are willing to fit an aftermarket security brace. I discovered to my horror a dashless c400x when I turned to my scooter. Seems all you have to do is pull the screen and disconnect the cable and it’s all yours. Replacement is £1500. BMW customer services not interested in the slightest as they only deal with manufactured issues and zero that’s theft related. Their advice was to contact the police. My view is it’s a clear design fault. Imagine if you walk up to any car and remove in seconds a £1500 component??? Scooter in unusable and no offer of support for the interim period. So the answer is please buy our expensive vehicles but tough if any form of theft is involved. Not what you expect from a premium brand… Also interesting that the advice from the dealer including weblink is to buy an aftermarket security brace as this is a well known issue. News to me but confirmed spending a few mins on line…..
BMW Connected Ride
I bought this unit after the 3rd Navigator V1 died in 3 years. I travelled a long ride using it and it was a disaster. It reorganised the WP's into alphabetical order. The software has been corrected but still the display is very unclear especially when NOT navigating a route. Also its address finding capability is lamentable. There are no intermediate stages, town, postcode etc. If it does find it then it takes forever.

Bmw motorad park lane are very good and helpful in selling you a bike for a good price. This is my 2nd bike from them. Not so helpful when your trying to sell the same bike back.
Never use BMW financial services, or suffer the consequences
I made final payment to BMW financial services. Expecting an easy process to receive my title. The worst odyssey of miss information and disappointment has ensued. Terrible does not adequately convey the level of frustration with this company. This is my second BMW and will be my last for many reasons, not the least of horrible customer service.
Jesus wept how shite are this lot??
Jesus wept how shite are this lot??? This is BMW for gods sake, not some dodgy Chinese mob. I bought an R18 2 weeks ago with only one key and no v5 as it was a repo. I took the bike on a touring holiday in Spain an had the keys nicked whilst I was out there. I found out that you could start the bike using the small plastic key (which luckily I had) but you had to lift the seat to do it (not great but at least I had a "solution") I then stalled the bike (yes it does happen to even those who have rode for 32 years!!) in a 6 lane roundabout near Elche and it was TERRIFYING as busses, cars taxis whizzed passed me whilst I tried to start the bike again. When I got to the dealership, they told me that they could only order me a replacement key with the Ok from BMW UK as I did not have the V5 so I contacted BMW UK customer services who asked me to get the dealership in Alicante to email then and they would respond accordingly. Incidentally I gave the Alicante dealer a copy of my passport, driving licence and proof of purchase. I paid 600 euros for 2 replacement keys. This was all on the 30th of July. A few days later, the guys from the dealership in Alicante emailed me to say that they had not had a response from BMW uk and asked me to chase them up. I did this to then be told by an absolute pr##ck called teddy that they now could not authorise the replacement key (which is completely the opposite of what that said on the 30th of July) !!!!!
The factory in Munich is now shut and the earliest I can get a key is EARLY SEPTRMBER!!!
I am now stuck in Spain with no keys and have cancelled my tour costing me thousands and and no help from this absolute shower of s***t
I WILL NEVER BUY A BMW BIKE AGAIN - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Bmw s1000xr
Bmws1000xr
BMW s1000xr
I own a BMW s1000xr that has covered 7392 miles, last week on my way from the Lake district to my home it completely lost all power as I was three quarters past a large wagon and left me in a life threatening situation, I had to brake and then get back in between the rear of the wagon and a car that had left me no room and as I had no power my speed was rapidly diminishing and was in danger of the car running onto the rear of me.
The bike then started and ran but stopped a further 3 times on my way home , the last time it would not run at all ! I had to call BMW recovery and it was taken to Vertu BMW at Shipley they had it for a week and assured me that the bike would be fine, I said I didn't want it back until it as 100% fixed as it put me in a very dangerous situation !
So this morning I picked up the motorcycle and I am now sat at the side of the road waiting for recovery as it has just done exactly the same thing and lost all power again ! I'm furious as I came down from the lake district to work on my house so I can get it rented out and I get very few days off as it is.
I have completely lost all faith in this bike which is a real shame as its my forth S1000xr and I really don't think that this issue is acceptable, someone is going to end up loosing their life because of this fault and I know its a very common one because the BMW technician told me himself !
It's so far cost me a day off work and another wasted day today and then I'll have to come from the lake district again to pick it up when it's next repaired, this really is unacceptable and I am going to write to whoever it may concern about this becoming a recall on the bikes before someone looses their life.
UPDATE!
I've now been without my motorcycle for 8 weeks and I feel BMW should compensate me for the loss of time I've had on my bike and the stress this is causing me !
It's disgraceful.
But I would also like to say that this is not a problem with the dealership but a problem with a major manufacturers fault .
Since this happened the front discs are now warped and have been since before the 12000 miles service but Bmw refuse to replace them under warranty, it's a shame Bmw have started using inferior parts on their motorcycles and refuse to honour the warranty on them .

Sadly BMW customer service suck.
Sadly BMW service have let me down. Customer service deliberately waited until my warranty had expired, on my 2021 F900XR, to let me know the engine paint was delaminating and could not be repaired under the warranty. This was going to be my last bike and now it has to go.
Broken Motorrad!
Not accurate about bike use in adverts...
Not accurate about delivery charges in terms of cost to deliver and need to pay for return journey in delivery fees stated!
Hang up on you when you point out wrong information or inaccurate sales descriptions on bikes of interest leading to terrible sub-standard sales engagements!
Fail to sell or share any ability to secure a sale by cash, HP / PCP offers.
No customer centric abilities in the two sales outlets I engaged when trying to buy a bike from both locations and distance selling!
Incompetent complaints process overseeing issues caused by dealerships whereby HQ BMW don't even bother to read or respond to legitimate complaints when raised.
Lethargic sales staff resulting in customers needing to do all the chasing in the buying / selling process...including securing own delivery and accurate delivery distances to home address... Act like it's a privillage to buy BMW and they doing you a favour (arrogant) when other manufacturers manage distributor sales far better with better aproaches and far more profesdional sales staff actually keen to sell.
If you want to be treated as a valued customer? Serious buyer... buy elsewhere. Motorrad BMW UK under Paulo are very, very, very broken in my experiences. .. Distribution function is broken, sales prevention officers exist at Motorrad in both dealerships I tried to buy bikes from...Conduct by line management at sites engaged on complaints re shoddy sales practice seem to go unchecked and as such poor performing staff are allowed to unchecked, I'll trained or poorly managed
and perpetuate a terrible experience if trying to buy a bike at prices published including delivery. Poor oversight by management including HQ in my experience exists in 100% of all my engagements.... so... sales channels at BMW Motorrad in all my dealings with two sites I was dealing with and HQ complaints are very broken.... All are simply not customer centric in my dealings with BMW Motorrad.
Paul Layzell Not BMWs ex UK MD as he nor I would allow these shoddy standards.
Not the once MD of BMW UK else this shit would not be happening!

Brought a new bike in 2022 from piddocks of long Eaton services and warranty work was always a problem due to demand I even had to park my bike up for 4 weeks because I had done 600miles so it needed its 1st check over but they couldn’t fit it in any sooner if I’d been told about this delay I would have booked it in sooner before 600 miles
It was booked in for a service late 23 piddocks have sadly gone into liquidation I found this out thew social media not bmw they should have written to there customers to assure them that there service and warranty work will continue and were to take your bike however they haven’t I feel that i have been abandoned this is disgraceful from any company but being bmw is profoundly unacceptable
I had to re book my bike in 40 miles away at a non bmw dealership by which time the service schedule was late
I love my bmw and was going to buy a new bmw every two years but because of this experience I brought a new Kawasaki instead £26000 bmw have lost

Not even worth 1star. My husband bought a part which, only after contacting the courier, finds out he has to pay a custom charge. He contacted the company who said ‘not our problem sir’. Please do not order from them!!!!
