I had an item sitting in my cart; somehow it was processed on their end. I will not be buying from this place again.
Purchase was easy at a good price point and delivery was seamless and well presented
I bought a voice amplifier. After a few days I realised I didn’t get an order confirmation email. I tried to log in but that wouldn’t work so logged in with Google account. Sent a notification to customer support. They did reply quickly and asked for my other account details and address. I did send it to them. I never heard back. I tried a second time through customer support. Again no response. I then asked for refund, also no response. Don’t buy anything on mighty ape. It feels like a scam very disappointed ☹️
Lodging this formal complaint regarding the unacceptable delays and poor handling of my return request for a faulty item under Order #JXRX6PYW.
I have been trying to resolve this issue for over a week, yet despite multiple interactions, my case remains unresolved, and promised follow-ups from your team have not materialized.
Below is a summary of the timeline of the communication failures I have experienced:
Initial Return Request (Ticket #3070843): I initiated a return for a faulty item and provided all necessary photographic/video evidence as requested by your team.
Thursday, 9 July – Saturday, 11 July: I was forced to repeatedly open chat sessions (including Tickets #3071127, #3071484, #3071804, #3072848, and #3074601) just to get an update, as no one was proactively reaching out to me.
Saturday, 11 July (Chat with Paolo): During this chat, the agent initially claimed that evidence hadn't been received, which was incorrect. After I offered to resend the entire correspondence history, the agent acknowledged that a colleague had already processed the return request.
During that same chat on Saturday morning, I explained that I had borrowed a friend's car specifically that day to drop the faulty item off at your warehouse and pick up a replacement. The agent, Paolo, asked me to wait while he looked into it, assured me the returns team would contact me via email "the soonest," and then abruptly closed and transferred the chat, claiming I wasn't responding—despite the fact that I was actively waiting for his update.
It has now been a full week since this ordeal began. I was told a senior agent from the returns team would contact me within the next business day. No one has reached out, and I am still holding a faulty item with no clear instructions or replacement.
I have acted in good faith, responded promptly, and accommodated your processes. In return, I have experienced disordered support, contradictory information, dropped chat sessions, and broken promises regarding follow-ups.

I WISH I CAN GIVE THEM NEGATIVE 1,000 STARS
DO NOT BUY FROM MIGHTY APE!
Mighty Ape does not have a customer service phone number, so all communication has to be done through online chat.
I purchased a Kogan product from the Mighty Ape website. After using it once, I discovered that it did not perform as advertised. I returned the item to the Mighty Ape warehouse immediately, and they confirmed they had received it.
However, despite having the returned item for several days, my refund has still not been processed. I have repeatedly been told that they are waiting for Kogan to process the refund.
Looking back, I wish I had purchased the product directly from Kogan instead of through Mighty Ape. At least then I would only be dealing with one company. Instead, it feels like I'm being passed back and forth between the retailer and the supplier while my refund remains unresolved.
Based on my experience, I would think carefully before buying through Mighty Ape, especially if the product is supplied by a third party. If something goes wrong, the refund process may take much longer than expected.
How the mighty have fallen. What used to be the best online store in NZ is now one I'll avoid by any means necessary. Website says one thing about shipping and delivery times - reality says something completely different. Completely messed up the order where parts were getting drip fed one by one, getting well over a week after purchase even though it's told next day shipping. The 1 item I received on time is of no use until all of the other parts come which will take well over 7 days longer than I was told. Have canceled the order and gone somewhere else. Also, a previous order I had sent to workplace with a run of the mill usb stick for Xbox controller was sent in a box from 'Sensual pleasures' which looks dodgy asf coming into my work place - this is because they are also outsourcing to cheap labour places.
Temu slop, brought an item took over 3 weeks to get here from. Item straight out of a temu warehouse.
Recent 2026 change. MightyApe don’t disclose that you now have to buy at least one item of over $30 to qualify for free shipping.
Even if you are a primate member for years.
Previously the whole cart total could be over $10. Even $30 would be OK.
Nope even buying 100 things of $20ea won’t get you free primate shipping!!!
You need at least One item over $30
Mightyape also removed price matching.
This Site used to be so good.
Follows the trend of companies getting bigger, selling out and degrading customer service in recent years.

Don't order from them, they lie about shipping times, when they say ships within 2 to 4 days, they just create the label, it is only actually shipped 2 weeks later, dishonest bunch of assholes
UPDATE 25.06.26 - I actually received my package today! Thank you Mighty Ape for actioning this if it was indeed you - or NZ Couriers. I am very happy now however it was still annoying to have had to lodge a complaint about their business acumen which many other Mighty Ape customers have also had to do. Please MA just do better from now on & you will surely get back your customer’s loyalty instead of customer angst!
Shocking business acumen! They advertise goods as being available for shipping the next day followed up by an email after your purchase from them and then you get emails from Mighty Ape and NZ couriers with confusing advice about delivery dates extending way beyond their initial delivery date. Awful experience - not worth buying from this company due to their false advertising!

UPDATE************
This is the explanation received from Mighty ape about their ridiculous shipping fees despite having a Primate Membership:
"Primate item eligibility has changed due to the increased cost of storing, processing, and shipping items.
We understand your concerns about more Mighty Ape items no longer being eligible for Primate free shipping and how this affects the value of your Primate membership." - Not exactly transparent, and certainly not a very convincing explanation for paying customers.
***********
I've been a Mighty Ape customer for years and have had a front-row seat to the decline of what was once one of New Zealand's best online retailers.
The Primate membership was the main reason I continued shopping with Mighty Ape despite watching the service steadily decline over the years. Don't even get me started on the shipping, which used to be reliably overnight and now seems to arrive whenever Mighty Ape gets around to sending it.
The Primate membership has become even worse. The free shipping benefit was the one thing that still made Mighty Ape worth choosing over competitors. Now even that appears to be disappearing. More and more products sold directly by Mighty Ape are excluded from free shipping, yet the membership fee continues to increase.
Mighty Ape still claims that most products sold directly by them are eligible for free shipping. My experience has been the complete opposite. Almost every time I add products to my cart lately, I'm greeted with shipping fees that make me wonder what exactly I'm paying a membership for.
When I raised my concerns, customer service didn't address them. Instead, I received a patronising explanation of how Primate works, as though the issue was that I didn't understand the membership rather than the fact that its value has been steadily eroded.
At this point, Primate feels like a shadow of what it once was. If you're considering signing up, save your money. If you're already a member, take a close look at whether you're actually receiving the benefits you're paying for.
It's genuinely sad to see what Mighty Ape has become.
38 emails back in forth. Being told on the 19th of May that I would get a reply in 1 to 3 days from the seller that they sell on behalf of. Waiting 22 days to get a reply from Heybattery. That can't understand a simple video or instructions / questions on how to get a watch setup.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Totally useless to deal with.
I had to repeat my problem over 8 times to them.
Get rid of your AI Bot and bring back real people to talk with. Or PROVIDE a phone number geee.
Bought an item, which is sold via a 3rd party. MightyApe takes the payment but can't provide you a tax invoice. Get told they will forward your query and someone will get back to you in 3 days time, pathetic

Haven't used it much since it was bought out by Kogan, but finding it ridiculous that I didn't receive a purchase confirmation email, and that I have to fill out a form just to receive a copy of my invoice
My credit card was compromised by Mighty Ape. I never bought anything for a while and my bank canceled my visa card as the fraud team were alerted by a purchase via Mighty Ape

My payment for an item said it failed so I did it again and then it ended up putting through 2 transactions and sending me 2 of the items. They wouldn't let me return the extra item, they wouldn't refund me for it and it cost around $200 per item. Now im stuck with the extra item and I had to pay just over $400 for it. Customer service took 2 weeks to get back in touch with me, they said no failed payment on their end that they could see and to take it up with the supplier. The supplier put it back on Mighty Ape. So much wasted time, shit service, no help. I didn't even open the 2nd item it is still wrapped up same as when it was wrongly delivered to me. Now I have to try and sell it to make back some of my mo ey but it will be at a loss. Cheers Mighty Ape, that's the last product I buy from you pricks.

I think the so called 30,000 good reviews are a lie this company is a 3rd party company selling the same items for different prices from small businesses that you can buy directly from and some you can't and selling refurbished phones without saying they're refurbished and my latest and last purchase have not received a tracking number for. if you want kiwi owned and good prices use kiwibuy. Mighty ape is a shark company.

Mighty Ape is now a giant rip off, everything i used to buy from Mighty Ape now has shipping attached so im paying $10 every time i buy my things monthly this is WITH primate which has actually gone up $20 a year to $89. So to save $2 on a box of gloves i buy monthly the $89 is not worth it. I also buy a lot of other stuff but sadly i have just canceled my membership if im paying full price shipping anyway i may as well buy from elsewhere as the prices are not hat great to begin with! Mighty Ape used to be great now its just a nickel and dime at every turn.
