Our delivery driver Tony is wonderful. Our propane tank is hidden between numerous shrubs, small palm trees and other landscaping plants. Tony takes great care to weave the filler hose between the plants to avoid damaging them to reach the tank. Great mood, friendly and dedicated to doing an excellent job.

One star is too much for this unprofessional, Unethical and immoral company! BEWARE !
I had to file a complaint with Florida department of agricultural and consumer services. I first tried through my local police department, and they wouldn’t do anything. They are as useless as tits on a bull! Came through my gated yard & removed the tank that had propane in it when I specifically told them to come back for an appointment I never made! I eventually got paid because I involve Florida department, but that just sweeps the BS under the rug!
You’ve been warned!
Shady practice!

What a rip off joint

What a rip off joint . Have had them charge $1.00 more a gallon than other local companies. God forbid you have them out for service. $238 for a half hour to tighten a fitting that they left loose in the first place. Organized crime

Their overpricing is ridiculous

Their overpricing is ridiculous. They charged me $5.99 per gallon when SOS propane charges me $1.99 per gallon. I overpaid Suburban Propane by over $13,000 in 1 year.
Do not use them.

Horrible Customer Service: Suburban Propane

Working with Suburban Propane out of Portland, Maine is horrible. Their phone system automatically hangs up after 10 minutes on hold to prevent a build up of customers. Once you get a human after several tries, they promise to have someone in service call you back and you receive no return call. I've called multiple times during May to schedule a tank removal and they have yet to call me back. I've also read that they take months to remove the tanks from people yards in Maine, which is completely unacceptable. Their prices for propane are also significantly higher than other companies in the area.

I do NOT recommend using Suburban Propane.

After reading all of the negative reviews, we almost decided to not do business with these guys. But the guy who came to our house (Frank) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and after talking to a customer of mine who has been using them for a few years with no complaints, we went ahead. Absolutely no regrets- they showed up on time, did what they said they would do, the workmanship was professional, and just generally good people to work with both field personnel and office people. Frank even came back a few days later just to check up on things. This branch is out of Temple, Pa. Would not hesitate to recommend them- at least out of this branch, I can't speak for other areas.

Same as everybody

Same as everybody, fell for low initial fill rate, once the tank was placed the cost per gallon doubled. Also about twice the market cost of propane around here. Invoice have a bunch of surcharges and fees. They charge $15 for the phone call when you call to order gas! Avoid at all costs.

Big corporate company buying out the little local companies and then imposing their greedy fees and indifferent customer service. Then you are stuck with them and their exorbitant fees because removing their tank is such a drag $. Good customer service is NOT what they care about...

Suburban Propane has terrible reviews…

Suburban propane has terrible reviews for a reason. You may find one positive review out of say 50. In most cases it's not the drivers or customer service staff that fail their customers, it's the executives sitting in their plush board room who don't give a damn except for their ridiculous salaries and bonuses. Drivers and customer service take the heat most of the time because they are on the front line. Every company wants to make a profit, but it shouldn't be at customers' expense. Wake up management and read all the negative reviews. Take care of your customers first by reducing your bonuses and invest more in a few more trucks and drivers at each location so customer service doesn't have to lie about late deliveries, pricing and etc. Customers should never have to run out of propane when it's not their fault. I have horror stories myself about being lied to by Suburban just to get you off the line. I'm sure customer service doesn't want to lie to customers in most cases but it's management that condones it. How the hell does this company stay in business?

I'm not sure how they received a…

I'm not sure how they received a two-star rating. Somebody is being generous. I don't know where to start, but I will say that there has not been a single communication/promise from 4-5 different people (including the new service manager) that has come to fruition. They simply lie. They promise they'll fill your tanks....they forget. They promise they'll get a service rep out when you smell propane...it takes days. They assure you that they'll be back to replace a frozen regulator...they never show up. BUT...they're super helpful to tell me that all I need to do is put a warm washcloth on the regulator if it freezes again. So go out into the frigid cold and bath the regulator? They promise they'll call and address your concerns immediately the next morning. They never do. With all of the issues we've had....Suburban has NEVER called me to apologize for not doing what they promised or for NEVER returning phone calls. THEN...(it gets better) when you absolutely lose it after being lied to by the 5th or 6th person, they hang up on you because you're raising your voice. And yes, I dropped an F-bomb. When you have no heat, you know why, and the people behind the reason why simply ignore you. Literally ignore you. Who wouldn't lose it. STAY AWAY. Within a year they'll be in bankruptcy...if not sooner.

Absolutely terrible company to deal with ever since they bought Down East. They bill inappropriate fees and refuse to make corrections. I have been a customer for 25 years and have to say they are just awful. Stay away from this company if you can.

No propane in Sebago Maine....

Sebago Maine..... I was suppose to be on automatic deliver and that didn't happen. I noticed I haven't been receiving the bill just before Christmas, checked the tank and it was down to 20%. I called for an emergence delivery and all I get is the contracted service call center. They made several failed commitments for delivery's Saturday & Sunday. They guaranteed the Sunday delivery saying I would be first on the list. And now here I sit in the middle of an ice storm with 5% in the tank, will most likely lose power and no fuel to power up my 26K generator. Suburban claims 24 /7/365 fuel delivery and customer satisfaction is #1!! And that if you sign up to automatic fuel delivery, there is no need to ever check the tank!! Its all marketing BS with little actual service. The company is supposedly open today but no one answers the phone.

They are just the worst people

They are just the worst people. I did everything right this year. Paid almost 2000.00 ordered an extra tank and they still wouldn't deliver it. They refuse to come down my lane after the end of October, All propane was paid for by October 3rd. Only brought partial shipment and still have not received my money returned and its December 16, 2025. Last year they left me out here with no propane, so no hot water, no stove no heat and I was ill.

They are high-priced and add "fees" to EVERYTHING, including closing the account. Almost $160 to close an account. Found another gas company that is transparent with their fees/services, unlike Suburban Propane!

They are by far the worst/useless…

They are by far the worst/useless company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with, I feel sorry for their employees. So I thought I smelled gas and I could not see the gauge needle, I called in, the customer service( if one can call what I received as customer service) " said he had a technician somewhere in PA it was going to take sometime, it was raining. so I told the person not to worry and not to send anyone. He reply that because
i "thought" i smelled gas, He had to send a technician. not once in the conversation (10+ minutes). He mentioned that if the tech. was not able to find a leak, they would charge me $100.00. Unfortunately for me no leaks. If the person I've spoken to that day had explained that to me I would have cancel the call and PROHIBIT them from coming into my property. I would have the tank and all removed from my property, if my daughter had not gifted it to me. So I'll fulfill my contract, use just enough to refill the minimum required. which according to the other "customer service" person I spoke with once I received this outrageous bill, that all I need is to purchase $25.00 for the season. It shall be done. I'm also posting in my social media, I'm going to make as much noise as I can. To everyone out there. "Want to be treated like 2nd class? do businesses with SUBURBAN PROPANE.
