I’m so frustrated with this company…

I’m so frustrated with this company whose products I have bought throughout my long life.

I’m simply trying to purchase this item below through their website Sony.ie. It does not allow me to do this. I rang a number in England customer support. Agent told me that I could purchase through the Irish website but this is not the case, there is no basket and no checkout, just details of the product I want which is (but no means of purchasing it)

Sony radio Portable DAB/DAB+ Radio XDRS41DL.CEK. In blue or red

What is going on? Local supplier, by the way (in my area) doesn’t have it.

If I want to buy a phone for example, I can go on Apple site and buy it. What is Sony doing?

I expect a response here. Just not good enough to waste people’s time like this.

Bad business Sony. sony.ie is not a retail site.

I still want this product.

Purchased a Sony DVP-NS30

Purchased a Sony DVP-NS30, and it stopped working shortly after plugging it in. After some research, I found out it was a known fault with this product, but it was never recalled, and the parts to fix the problem had been used up. Sony Ireland will not address or resolve the problem.

Customer pays for Sony issue!

I bought a pair of WF-1000XM4 headphones in 2023. Great headphones but a firmware update caused damage to the batteries in 2025 that rendered the headphones unusable. You would imagine a "reputable" company would then own up and pay for the repair - not a chance - they did collect the headphones by courier but basically told me that if I didn't pay €40 for the repair, they would return them to me unfixed. I will never buy Sony products again, their customer service is appalling.

Love our Sony TV

Love our Sony TV. In fact our second, the first is still going strong after buying it from Comet in 2005!

Our current full-array LED TV is amazing. Comparing it in the shop to OLED the only difference seemed to be the price.

The only negative is the satellite tuner isn't Freesat, so cannot use the record facility for the future as no EPG for anything more than 'now and next', but its a small negative and not to be marked down on as it wasn't advertised as a Freesat tuner.

Sony quality shines.

Bought a PS5 for our Grandson just over…

Bought a PS5 for our Grandson just over 2 years ago, ended up burning on the inside, only detected due to overpowering smell of burning and smoke emanating from unit in his bedroom. Could have been the cause of a house fire, very worrying as our Grandchildren were present. Very alarmed to think what could have happened if smell/smoke had not been detected. Sony Irl. contacted but to put it bluntly were not the slightest bit bothered, no help whatsoever. Typical big corporation reaction, deny at all costs that their product was at fault and not even concerned enough to check the unit to find out the cause of the fire. Would counsel intending purchasers of this product to be very alert and cautious

Bought a playstation 5 2 and a half…

Bought a playstation 5 2 and a half years ago. Gets used maybe twice a week. My son was playing and shouted out that there was a smell of smoke in his room, came down to get me and when I went up the smell had become stronger and filled his room and playstation had switched off and wouldn't go back on. I brought it to get fixed and the technician explained that something had exploded on the circuit board inside and melted right through the insides, and he had never seen anything like it. Completely unfixable. We're extremely lucky it didnt end in a fire in our home.
Contacted Sony and was told they have not had any faults within playstation. Paying nearly €600 for a playstation only a little over 2yrs ago and this happens, seems a waste of money!!

Don't Buy From Sony

I purchased a pair of headphones worth 300 euro 3 years ago, I recently had a faulty issue with my headphones the Bluetooth isn't working however the aux wire does which made me believe it wasn't something I did rather the company,

I then sought to a repair shop in my local area and they had said to me this is a major outage within sony itself

Now that my warranty is out as it is 3 years later I have to pay 100 euro for a fault on their part to get my product repaired RIDICULOUS

I'll never buy another Sony product again

Don’t seem to be interested in Customers

I was looking for a wall mount for a sound bar. Their help line had an abrupt message to contact another company. When I went onto their site it transpires that they are a trade only supplier (remember I contacted the customer help number). A person there referred me to an EU website which didn’t have the part. It feels like Sony’s view of the customer is purely transactional… get the money…that’s the end of it…

DONT BUY SONY FROM CURRYS!!!!!!!!

I contacted Currys insurance tech department on the 3rd of August to explain the remote control for my TV was no longer working and needed replacing. In brief I was advised a new one would be posted to me. I received a text on the 4th of August which stated that the item was on the way.

Today the 1st of September I contacted Currys again to advise that no replacement product has been received and the treatment I received was nothing short of degrading and disgusting.

I was advised that I'm now expected to pay for the product myself and then chase currys after 5 days for a refund. I am 9 months pregnant and do not have the funds to purchase the product upfront, upfront his if I did have the funds I still would not find this acceptable. This was not what I was told when I purchased the insurance for €230 nor is it what I was told when I called on the 3rd of August. I had to speak to 4 different people to receive this information and one of whom hung up on me. The manner in which I was spoken to was beyond unprofessional and unhelpful and its seems that all you wanted was the €230 policy price from us for absolutely nothing in return expect to treat us like absolute dopes.

Furthermore, the T&C's on your tech insurance policy do not state that this is how your insurance policy works. Can this be dealt with before I take it further, as of now and how I was treated today it is a matter of principle. I am not quite sure what customers your staff are used to dealing with but I am not an uneducated simpleton who will let things go until a suitable resolution is received.

I can't trust this company, wasted my time and money

As a long term Minolta/Sony A mount user. I spent a lot of time and money building up a system. Sony rewards their loyal customers, for A Mount by "ghosting" them. They silently discontinued the entire range, and didn't even put out a press release informing users of this. Even though it was widely reported.
Of course you can use their sub par ergonomics E mount bodies, with adapters (the LAEA5 doesn't work with most bodies with screw drive lenses either and has no video AF at all)
I've decided to sell my entire investment, and move to another brand, this just isn't a company I can trust. What a way to treat your own customers, shocking. I won't be buying any Sony products ever again

No Saorview radio on new Sony Bravia TV (with update)

I just bought a Sony Bravia TV from Currys. It is model KDL 32WD752.
I use Saorview and it also connects to my home Internet. The digital scan scans in 22 channels which represent the Saorview mix of TV and local radio channels. However the guide only shows the TV channels and I cannot access the radio channels. I have tried every button on the remote and in the settings. There is no way to access the radio channels. Currys support was hopeless. They told me to call Sony which is now closed. I sincerely hope that there is some way to get my Lyric radio.
UPDATE
I finally found out how to acess the radio channels, no thanks to Sony or to Currys, so I will give my updated review 4 stars.
Here's how to get to them:
Get a program on HDMI 1 running (eg. BBC news).
Press the tv/radio button:
3 options are shown, (no hint as to what they do). Click the bottom one.
Click the down arrow to bring up the radio channels.
(I still could not get them through the Saorview signal, but I suppose that does not matter.)
I hope this helps someone.

My Sony TV broke down after 4 years

My Sony TV broke down after 4 years. I contacted Sony who messed me around for months before confirming that they only stand over their products for one year. This shows that they have no confidence in the quality of their own products. Additionally according to Citizens Advice they are required to cover products for 6 years under European regulations but they completely ignore this.
Motto of story is never buy Sony

Quick and easy resolution to my problem

My Sony TV was delivered with a part missing. I was unable to get any help from the retailer. Eventually I contacted Sony directly. They quickly arranged to send the part by courier and sent me the tracking details. The whole thing was done over email and was very easy. They even followed up to make sure I received the part. Very impressed.

Overall impersonal Customer service however my query was dealt with...

I purchased a Ps5 back in December had it ordered in July. It was a Christmas present so it has only been used since the 26th of December, on the 14th of February the controller stopped working and it wouldn't charge. As the shop I purchased it in was closed due to COVID I was directed to contact the company directly. So I contacted the customer service team. I found it difficult and impersonal to communicate with the customer service team. Every email I received from the customer service team, I was dealing with a different representative. Eventually, when I was replying to any of the emails I included the previous emails in the new email I sent to try and make sure whoever was going to email me back knew what I was talking about. After emailing back and forth for a month, I was issued a return label to send back the broken controller. which I did. And I was pleasantly surprised to receive a repaired controller a week later and that is why I gave it a 4-star rating. Although the customer service team was difficult to deal with in the end I received a repaired controller very quickly and was satisfied that my query was dealt with.

Sony Only want your money!!

I’m in my 4th month trying to get Sony to fix my Soundbar. And it was within warranty when the issue arose.
I spent a small fortune to get one “good” sound system for once in my life and Sony have destroyed any faith I had in it.
Abysmal assistance with everyone passing it to someone else.

So disappointed with Sony WF1000XM3 ear buds

I was delighted with an Xmas gift of Sony WF-1000XM3 ear buds.
At €200 + I was expecting great sound quality. To my great disappointment, they are useless for phone calls while out walking. Traffic and weather noise is carried and makes calls impossible.
I contacted Sony about this problem, and to my dismay, Sony responded saying that....

“the microphone is located in the headshell and not in the cable. Based on this, the ambient noise may disrupt the call quality. In other words, this is within specification”

Disappointingly, despite carrying out quite extensive research before choosing which ear buds I would buy, this information did not come to light.
I now use a cheap pair of (€9.99) wired ear buds to listen to my audiobooks and make phone calls while walking.
